This is the first story I've seen where the mother is the actual FL (the ML is her son) & the 2FL is the soon-to-be DIL, so that's different than the usual storylines. And there are still the usual snotty bullies to deal with. SPOILER: The conflict is all because she spends most of the movie refusing to let him know her true identity (to protect him), while still challenging everyone who bullies him & his fiancée. So her son thinks his mom is just making trouble. (I get that she wants to protect him, but it doesn't make sense that it would make him safer to be ignorant. People still bully him & his GF anyway, and it just makes him less aware that he should be extra careful. But I also don't get how she hadn't made sure to leave him with protection & care during the 25 yrs. she was gone. That totally sucks & explains his animosity towards someone who may leave again at any moment.)
