As someone in those final years,I find this song gives me more peace than sadness. The belief this old man had was in the words of Jesus in the Bible…the “words written in red” and the comfort in knowing he would see his loved ones again. I am SO counting on that as loving them in my memories is not enough anymore.💔. Taylor, hon,I had a heart connection with you the very first time I saw your eyes fill with tears while listening to a song, because I have always been the same way. And Stephen, you don’t fool anyone,my friend…I’ve seen that “glistening” in your eyes more than once, and,to this old lady;it takes a strong man to show a tender heart! I loved your reactions to this beautiful song!❤️❤️
If you want this. It is open to you too. Pray this prayer from your heart. Dear God, I know that I am a Sinner. I believe that Jesus Christ, your Son, died on the cross for my sin and rose from the dead to be my Lord. God, I now repent of my sin and personally invite Jesus into my life. Thank you, Jesus for giving me the free gift of eternal life. I promise to live for You as You reveal Yourself to me through your Word, the Bible. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen
This is not a "sad" song. It is a song of peace and promise. Those words written in red are the words of Jesus. If you believe in Him, you WILL see those you love (who also believe) again, in Heaven.
No racism. No division. No hate. Besides it being a true story, it reminds us to never underestimate the power of prayer and hope. He went to be with his wife and baby 😇 So powerful! ❤️
You’re never a former marine. Once the marine always the marine. So my friends that served in the core tell me and I lived down at Jacksonville North Carolina for seven years. I’ve seen Marines retired Marines once submarine always ring Semper Fi brother.
Mr. Hard ass 63 year old former marine: ..... you've learned that there's nothing wrong with crying about life experiences. It means that you've gained some. You're supposed to, Marine or not.
True story of Ronnie Dunns life and this wonderful old gentleman led him to God and salvation. So it’s a great song. Sad as he missed the old man but happy in that he now knows he will see him again in eternity. This song is fantastic in message and vocals and music too!❤
Mamma used to send him over with things. He believed and trusted her judgement. He became friends with the old man. He believed, over time, what they shared. The old man passed on his faith in there being something more. It wasn't til the old man died that he had to wrestle with these things himself. The life, the shared experiences all of it together was ALL Belief. I am an older person and I took great comfort in this song. I have buried more friends and family, and I too BELIEVE that it doesn't end in a slow ride in a hearse. It gives me peace.
Craig Wiseman may disagree on that since he is the writer who came up with the story. He drove to Dunn's house at midnight one night and asked him to help finish it. (That is Wiseman's response in an interview from several years ago).
I've heard this song many many times. 48 years old and I cry every single time I hear this song. So very powerful, makes me think of those I've lost. Great reaction!
RIGHT!!?? This song, and Randy Travis song, (He walked on water) tears me up, cus it reminds me of my grandpa💔💔 he pretty much raised me!❤❤❤ RIP Gramps
Same! I found this song when my mother died and I BAWLED with this on repeat 💯 So happy she was in the arms of Jesus but my broken heart missed her and was grieving hard at the time. GEEZ 🙏🏼❤️
Craig Morgan "Father, my son and the Holy Ghost" live at Grand Ole Opry. He wrote it about his son that was killed in an accident. It was the first time he sang it for an audience.
Queen, you are special with a beautiful soul and spirit. I have to tell you that you are an Empathic person and that’s a gift. It can be good and it can be bad. Most of all the blessings of being one is awesome♥️. Loved y’all’s reaction. Every time I’ve seen y’all you have cried. Empath people have a lot of special abilities. Bless y’all and thanks for sharing.
It is sad but hopeful and beautiful at the same time. Sad because of the loss the boy felt, but hopeful because the old man held his belief all those years that he would be reunited with his wife and baby when he passed. It is hard not to be sad listening to this song. I've heard it a multitude of times and it has always been one of my favorite songs by Brooks and Dunn and I cry every time I hear it.
I read a couple of days ago that Ronnie Dunne was going to school to be s preacher. He sang at drinking establishments to pay for school. I don't recall what the circumstances were, but he was introduced to Kik Brookes and they clicked professionally and friendship wise.
Those of us with a few more years on us, who've by now lost more than a few loved ones we held dear, feel this particular verse deeply: "You know I'm more and more convinced the longer that I live... you know this can't be, no this can't be, no this can't be all there is!"
J D Souther (who wrote many songs that were recorded by the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne etc) once said in an interview, he hated country music when he was younger. Thought to was all nothing but simple, "crying in your beer" corny hillbilly music., But he said once he started actually listening to more of it and studying it and writing more country style music himself, he started to realize just what an art form it actually is and formed a real appreciation for it.
I had heard the song multiple times, but this was my first time seeing the video. 😢 I agree with so many others, I have faith that one day I’ll see my mom and other family again. Thank you for allowing us to watch this beautiful video with you. ❤️🙏🏻❤️
The close connection of a young boy and older guy with an instant bond, is what really pulls at your heartstrings and you never want it to end. So, when it does, your sadness comes because you were emotionally invested in the heart of their friendship. No shame in tears ever guys. Enjoyed your reaction- it was sincere and you were not alone . 🤗💓
I've heard this song before, but I need to hear it today. I lost my cousin recently very tragically in a motorcycle accident. The first cousin of my generation gone. The only son of my grandma's only son. Please pray for my family, people of RU-vid, as we prepare to lay him to rest.
This is one of my favorite songs! I loved your reactions! I cried right along with you! I haven't cried every time I have heard this, but I have cried quite a few. I feel songs deeply as well! I have been singing in church since I was12 years old. Singing means a lot to me, especially songs like this! I think this is a sad but peaceful song! Many blessings! 😊
Enjoyed the reaction by you guys. I also shed a couple tears when I first saw this. This is something many of us can relate to. It is a powerful video. I have this song on my playlist and it does not affect me as much without the video.
I have heard a lot of “sad” songs since I was a teen in the 60s. Usually do not make me cry because the singers are not “feeling” the song themselves. Great voices, great music, great sad lyrics, but still fell short. With or without an MV. I have great respect for singers who put themselves into that vulnerable place while they sing and make me cry. My all time favorite group, S. Korean, made me laugh, cry, angry, heartbroken, rock to the beat, and wish I could give them granny hugs. Including during their live performances and me not understanding a single word.
Please please comfort her when she cries. It means the world to us when you do guys. Rub her back, wipe her tears. It dont take much to make it a little better when we get emotional
In his defense, he used to in videos where I’d get upset like this, but it just made me cry harder, so I asked him to stop 😂 he’s replaced it with being supportive in other ways, he will give me a little leg squeeze, ask if I’m okay, and more importantly… pause when he knows I need to catch my breath. Normally I love the comforting hugs but while recording it just makes it harder because I end up more emotional and then I can hardly talk.
Aunt Emma i miss your love❤ i waited for you 4 busses , i knew the first time i seen you, you opened your arms OH MY BABY gave me the most loving hug i ever had
❤to you. Ronnie sings his heart out (passion and grit) brooks- epic guitar! :) The story .. so sweet and beautiful, and resonates with so many of us. It’s heartbreaking and a true story. Bless you… this is a classic.
It's the voice that brings emotions out. I've heard others sing this song and it's just a song. But Ronnie's voice adds more to this song and there's more but I will leave it at that
My absolute favorite Brooks & Dunn songs! Thank you God for sending your son Jesus to die on the Cross for my sins! I could never do enough to gain my place in Heaven, but now I'm covered by the blood of Christ!
New sub because of your reactions! Don't ever apologize for crying or not crying! Pause as much as you need to, and if people don't like it so be it! They can just move along without being negative! 🤠
Good country is known for its storytelling. Its mantra is 3 chords and the truth.Life spans funny to tragic events so country does too.Laughing and crying during a reaction are both acceptable and a tribute to the artist.Embrace both.
Death doesn't have to be sad. Once you understand we are not our bodies. We are soul that inhabit a human body for the human experience. Souls are pure energy and energy never dies. We live on after the human experience. Lost my mom in 2017. I was sad to some point but I knew she will live on. It helped me so much to not be sad about her death all the time. Live Belive by Brooks and Dunn!
