eBay auctions are a roller coaster ride more often than not. And while this one had quite a stomach-dropping moment, the end result was still well worth the ride!

One of my 1st good flips was a NIB Bible. Bought for .50 sold for $50. Been buying them ever since. My MIL suggested I buy them and send to a prison. I suggested she do that for her hobby.😂 I do give not so good ones to our church's children's dept. Kids who don't show up with a Bible can always grab one from there.

I do understand that some people feel if a person wants to read the Bible, then they should be able to do so without incurring a fee. But in my opinion & experience, people looking to buy the Bible online are looking not just to read the Bible, or own a copy of the Bible, but they are looking for a very specific Bible. Maybe it's one with room for them to make notes, or one that comes with notes already present, or they want to find one to replace one that they had lost, or one like a favorite aunt owned, or a great-grandparent, etc. Or maybe they enjoy the artwork in certain copies. And I don't personally see any reason why those people shouldn't be able to go online and find someone selling copies of those specific Bibles that they would like to own. 🙂 Plus, from a genealogy or local history stand point, if you find a Bible that has been written in by previous owners, you're doing a service keeping that from being discarded in some way. 🙂

I sell Bibles all the time! Usually between $15-$100. Haven't found my $760 Bible flip yet, but you never know! This subject always confounds me. Are people mad at books stores for selling Bibles? How is it different? I'm happy to put a Bible in anyone's hands that wants it. Congrats on your super find!

I feel it's better to save them from a landfill and find a home with someone, like your buyer, who was actively searching and willing to pay for that Bible and very happy to have found it.

No problem selling bibles. Always looking for unique or high end looking or old ones in good shape. Best Bible flip for me was a pre-braille copy with raised symbols and text for the blind. From the 1800’s sold for about $200.

People buy Bibles, but frequently they recover the Family Bible which may have no value except to the family. Whatever has value to a person can be sold. I see no reason not to sell Bibles. Love watching you & your interesting Content! Keep up good work..

I sell bibles whenever I find one worth listing, the first few I was like idk, but upon thinking about it, the people who worry about people should get bibles for free, there are a ton of places a person can get a basic Bible for free, so if someone wants a certain Bible and is willing to pay for it, I Don't see the harm in selling them that Bible, I will say I am more open to offers on bibles than I am on other items. My highest Bible sale was around $70 shipped, and I did get it for free.

My grandmother would always say give religious reads or bibles to someone for free. She believed it was bad luck to sell them. I do not believe this though.

No issue with selling bibles or other religious books. If you believe, it's like selling a history book and if you don't, it's like selling any other book. I've sold several 19th century bibles in the $300 range. Another item to look for are older book of Mormon books - my best has been over $300 for an 1891 edition. Nice sales and keep looking for these pieces of literature.

Hope you have time to answer a question as you are the only 1 who will be truthful. I've sold on Ebay for 24 yrs. Recently, I got a VeRo Strike for selling an item that was "Essence of Chanel". Not a Chanel product, not listed as such but got a strike nonetheless. Since then, after talking to an Ebay rep., they told me to NOT list anything on their VeRo list. That VeRo list is 28-29 pages long! I had 958 items on at the time. I now have just around 250 as I took all my items off, ie Nike, Boes, Ray Ban, Kirby, Coach, Fossil, Vera Bradley, Playtex, Any auction with "Red Hat" in the title, regardless if it is Red Hat Society or not, Lee jeans and on and on. I'm afraid of litigation as they say the companies are actually suing blocks of Ebay sellers who use their Intellectual Property Name in their title. Scared me to death. Does any of this bother you? Are they trying to get rid of all resellers? Any info would be helpful. Thank you! (P. S. since removing all my items mostly, I have sold 2 items in the last 19 days). Ready to hang it up. Everyone talks about selling on "What Not". Wonder if they have a list like this VeRo list?

It does unfortunately seem often a roll of the dice when it comes to which listings companies will go after. Some are more militant than others, for sure. But often I find that many of those companies you mention only go after listings that are “new.” They mostly seem to leave preowned alone. There have been some sellers getting pulled into legal cases - and I think Kevin at commonwealth picker talked about that not too long ago.

I'm Christian and don't mind selling Bibles. If someone needs a Bible, pretty much any Church will give them a standard one. But for the nicer, vintage ones, that's different. My favorite thrift store is owned by a Church and they have their Bibles marked high! They know what they got. lol.

We sell them. My mother ( from the dirty 30s) was against it as that seemed to much like the revival salesman that used to come along & take everyone’s money. It wasn’t till we took her to a Christian store and Used bookstore and saw how much some were going for that she said it was ok lol.

I've sold lots of Bibles. I've also given a lot of Bibles away. I even donate to an organization called Open Doors with Brother Andrew. They go into countries where Bibles aren't allowed and give them out.
