Shot my first wedding hybrid because of you. Here I am having shot 9 hybrid weddings and having 47 booked….hybrid is the way forward my man!

I attempted to shoot video last year a wedding I shot from a family friend. Photography was the main gig and I found it hard to get both video and photos at key moments. Should have had a second shooters 😬

I started to do wedding trailers and even though I'm not charging a ton for them now I feel so comfortable doing it now that I do it even when they don't ask for it and then show them this really nice video which they ultimately love and are totally grateful for it. Also, your work is inspiring to me and I find myself not only doing the wedding trailers because of you but also the behind-the-scenes videos. I'm looking forward to more of your videos!

As a videographer, I’d like to transition into doing more photography and potentially doing hybrid coverage. How would you go about this to get clients to trust you with photography?

I started to do this recently and its an awesome thing to offer! if you set expectations properly its not that hard to make a good highlight reel. Gear note... I guess its the XQD that makes the Z6ii such a hybrid powerhouse. I have a couple Z5's and there is some delay when switching from taking several photos to video, BUT I've started shooting video with my wider lens and photo with my longer lens at the same time for those split second moments. I think I actually like this better. It takes the stress out of switching and choosing which moment to video or photo.

Yeah, I've been doing that now for about 10 years but instead of a highlight clip mines long-form editing. Different ethnicities react differently so just ask in advance or charge more for a highlight clip because it is a lot of work.

I ordered a 5D mk ii on ebay to get back into photography and stumbled across your videos. You’re the GOAT… almost a full day later of your videos I just pulled the trigger on a R6 and RF 85mm f2. I’m gonna shoot for a little to learn the camera and refresh my Lightroom knowledge but after that, I’m gonna join the Patreon and get going with shooting weddings on the side after I saw you had a guide posted. To create the vertical edit, do you need to shoot a bit wider on your video shots so you aren't cropping off too much content? I started hybrid shooting a few weddings as a bonus thank you for my clients, and also for practice, but now at the point where I feel comfortable adding them to a package.

@Taylor Jackson do you think that business could increase if I have a videographer to film and editing? And not to earn on the video?

So, quick question- if you're shooting photography with the album in mind, wouldn't that translate over to shooting video clips with a highlight video in mind?

We are just few technological steps back when videos are going to be major thing.

I’ve done two hybrid weddings so far. It’s pretty hard I feel, BUT if you schedule the wedding day to where you are not rushing and also manage the clients expectations of how many photos they’ll get compared to video then you should be fine! Now I’m trying to figure out the pricing for this service now that I’ve got a couple under my belt.
