I get the noise complaints as the park expands ot may get noisier, but most people living around there weren't living there before Disneyland was built, so you bought a house near a theme park. What do you expect?

I remember this! Sadly I never got to ride it, but I did get to ride Orange Stinger and I still remember the smell

I think I went to disneyland/C.A. at the perfect time. Before pixar pier and the tower of terror retheme, but after the 1900s asthetic retheme. I feel like that was the sweet spot as far as quality and good theming. Both pixar pier and the guardians reskin just feel kinda emotionless like "lol lets just slap an ip on a previously existing ride". I liked the 1900s era the most for the pier and I miss it!

Maliboomer will always have my heart. It was my first drop tower and it really started my drop tower obsession. I was so mad when they tore it down for no good reason (in my opinion). And they should've at least left the balloon ride as Flik's Flyers. I finally rode supreme scream in 2019 and I have to admit, it was amazing.

They should have made it Monsters Inc themed! It literally captures screams!

I loved it and the space shot concept, a nice contrast to supreme scream

Paradise Pier was the most beautiful part of the park and my favorite. I never rode this ride because I wasn't tall enough. But nearly a decade later I rode Supreme Scream.

The fact that you could see supreme scream from it- It'd mind blowing on how bad Disney was simping for this park

I love when people move to a neighborhood and then complain about the neighbor who was there first.

I was devastated as a 6 year old when they closed this because I was just barely too short to ride it…now it doesn’t seem like I’m missing much

For a brief time when both drop rides were in the California Adventure park, I and my family would nickname them, "The Two Towers", as a sarcastic nod to the second Lord of the Rings film/book.

They should’ve used the Inside Out theme for the Incredicoaster and called it the “Emotional Rollercoaster”

I have no problem with the maliboomer being gone. The last time I rode on it the restraint wouldnt come all the way down and I was left with a pretty good gap. I was screaming my head off the whole ride because I thought I was going to fall out.

I talked to a cast member today. He got to experience the opening year of California Adventure. I asked him why MaliBOOMer closed, and he said that it closed due to lack of parts. When S&S worldwide went out of business, they didn’t have any more spare parts to operate the ride.

With the addition of cars land and the transformation of paradise pier into Pixar pier, the park feels a lot more disney now. It's still in the top three of my favorite Disney parks

The other thing about the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is that it looks to be nothing more than a rethemed version of the same ride in what used to be Bug's Land.

Theme Park Crazy making a Hotel Mario reference. A Surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!

I remember this drop ride I was very young when this came out and was unfortunately not able to ride it

Maybe, to the guests who thought so, the Scream Shields resembling the shame dog cones were supposed to represent shame to park guests for even CONSIDERING going to California Adventure in the first place??? 😆

This is a cursed ride slot in California Adventure. Once it was removed it was replaced by Inside Out: Emotional Whirlwind which was literally just a reskinned version of the balloon ride from A Bug’s Land which was shut down for Avengers Campus. That ride has also subsequently closed, and there’s now nothing operating there. I do wish they had Maliboomer still. Someone in the comments mentioned that it could be Monster’s Inc Themed since it captures screams. Theme the cars as doors. You could even turn that face shield into some sort of AR experience. Imagine having characters interact with you in that space.

Disney Sea in Long Beach was the first Idea for an expansion before California Adventure but the coastal commission said no to the idea ! Tokyo said bring it here and we love you more !

I loved the Maliboomer. I was very upset when they removed it and then didnt even put anything else up in its place! We used to ride it around 5 times a day. The shields never bothered me as they were clear and didn't hinder any view (which was fantastic from the maliboomer, much better view than tower of terror). not cumbersome at all.

I wish this thing never ended up at Disney since it felt out of place, the theme for it was extremely creative imo

7:17 Those aren't to keep the dog from scratching their ears (I mean, maybe that's one of the uses for it) but it's primary use is to keep the dog/cat from licking or gnawing at it's wound/incision etc. To prevent infection and reopening of stiches or whatever.

I remember being SO SAD when I heard maliboomer was going to be taken out. It was one of my first "thrilling" rides.

I liked the concept of California Adventure, and thought they did a good job. The idea of the Boardwalk fit perfectly as a carnival-like attraction more so than a theme park, because that is essentially what the Boardwalk is, a giant carnival! It is similar to Coney Island that way. That is the charm and attraction, being more like an archaic fair.

I remember going to California Adventure on opening day. It was the only time I ever got to ride California Screamin’ multiple times without getting back in line. My father and I sat in the front seat and rode it at least four times.

I loved this ride. It almost always had no line, but also had a single rider lane 😇. I have so so many good memories on this ride.

I just remember the ride because my dad refused to go on it be a it had "Malibu" in the name and an ex girlfriend of his briefly lived in Malibu...

I never got to ride Maliboomer as a kid, but i guess Supreme Scream will have to do.

I miss the Maliboomer. People tended to forget it was there and I never remembered a line up. I thought the plexi glass was a puke shield and people finding them cumbersome puzzle me. It was clear plexi! As for the people complaining about the noise and traffic...I wonder how many people who live there have lived there since 1955. THEY are the only ones who can complain. Everyone else, imagine moving to Anaheim THEN complaining about the noise and the traffic.

i'm so glad that they mentioned people would refer to the shields as 'puke shields' cuz i definitely thought they were 'vomit shields' when i was a kid... but again, i was a kid.

Excuse me, but those Anaheim residents have absolutely no right to complain about theme park noise, they all moved in LONG after Disneyland was built, if they didn’t want the noise, they shouldn’t have moved in right next to it.

I remember getting to go to California adventure right before the Maliboomer closed about. And I was brave enough to ride the Maliboomer but not Tower of Terror for some reason.

I miss that ride! To me it was good way to get kids ready for the Supreme Scream.

I will never forget the maliboomer. While most don't even know it existed. Mainly because of this hilarious experience. My dad has a larger belly and well the restraint wasn't going all the way. The poor young CM was trying so hard and I mean he would jump and push down because he felt so bad and wanted my dad to go. We were all laughing so hard. My dad like I promise it's okay. It was a good time. Fun ride. But that was back when Cal Adv was underwhelming

About time someone covered this drop tower! Honestly I wish it still stayed up as it would be cool to see! It’s a good contrast to Tower Of Terror/Guardians Breakout. Plus imagine the Pixar theme they could apply it today. Maybe the rocket at the end of Toy Story 1 and launch Woody & Buzz to the sky?

Would you ever consider trip to Poland? There is theme park called Energylandia in village of Zator(31m from Kraków) . Its fast growing place which adding new themed area every year. They do have now 17 coasters and most of them are proper large rides. Check the wiki page of it. Take care and keep up with good work :)

Some have Scream shields and then there is Phantasialand with Mystery Castle

You don't seem to have S&S's tower timeline correct. The Space Shot started the company in 1994. Certain models such as the Big Shot in Las Vegas is the FIRST GENERATION. The SECOND GENERATION was made in 1997 and allowed S&S to come up with the Turbo Drop. In 1999, they introduced two more: The Double Shot, a smaller-sized Space Shot with two shots instead of just one, then the Combo Tower, which combined both the Space Shot and Turbo Drop experience in one attraction. By 2014, they had come out with a 20-seat combo tower, with the option of having the seat panel rotate at the top in the middle of the sequence. In 2020, they came out with the Spin Shot, a revolutionary new attraction that combines the Free Spin coaster on the towers and can be retrofit on any existing tower.

I think it would've been cool if Disney re-themed the Maliboomer to Up during the Pixar re-theme. Think about it! The cars could have been the houses with balloons attached to the top. Just a random idea I just had.

Honestly in my opinion, a theme park based on carnivals and a romantic tribute to California itself is a fun idea, if a non Disney park picked up on the concept.

Scream shields if done right can prevent people from losing phones

This might have been the first Theme Park Crazy episode without a food reference. Orange Stinger and the use of the word Cheesy aside.

When I went to DCA for the first time before the renovations, I was just confused to why a theme park themed the state I already live in. I found the park boring right after I walked the entire park to were we left early and not stayed the night. After the renovations plus the carsland. The entrance looks looks better and there's was a little more things to do. But now when they changed tower of terror and paradise pier and now the new marvel land and still being called California Adventures, makes no sense anymore 😑 and the Maliboomer was just odd to me with those shields on when there was Supreme Screem just a few miles away without shields.

I remember these. I didnt like the Maliboomer because of those shields. Was pretty lame not having the wind rush around your face.

PLEASE rank all of the coasters at Dollywood.It is my favorite theme park.

I only to ride Maliboomer once back in 2002. Despite the scream shields, the ride was still fun and way more thrilling than Emotional Whirlwind (Flik's Flyers was the better name and theme, and Balloon Race at Knotts Berry Farm is the better version of that ride model in general).

Rise And Fall Request: Cheetah at Wild Adventures!

California Adventure has become a product pusher of a park. Whatever sells gets a spot. It’s a revolving door of themed lands and merchandising. I don’t view this as much better than the original park. It still has no identity after 2 decades.

I can't say I agree completely with the parks reasoning for removing the Maliboomer. The Orange Stinger, Sun Wheel and Mulholland Madness were off the shelf rides but they were able to make them to fit in the newley rethemed Paradise Pier in the early 2010s so they could've easily made this ride fit into that new area theming as well. Never the less, I don't see why they decided to scrap it rather than sell it to another park that could've desperatly used one of these rides like Michigan's Adventure.
