1) Bolo Yeung was born in 1946, making him 45 when this was released. 2) Jalahl Merhi (the guy with the bad hair, aka Beirut's Steven Seagal although he's from Brazil due to his parentage) put up the movie's $2.5M, making this the first movie (technically) for his First One Movies. So it's not so much "vanity project" as "career investment". 3) He's listed at 5'7-3/4", as opposed to her 5'3". 4) Not saying I'm a fan, but I only had to type in "cyn" before Google listed her.

Let's not kid ourselves. Bolo Yeung is the star of this movie, not Cynthia Rothrock.

Rothrock's kicks are real clean, her technique is solid. Also I fucking love Bolo Yeung, ever since Enter the Dragon, I nicknamed him "Asian Hulk" that mans a fucking freak of nature, in my opinion he deserved to be in more movies back then he's awesome! Great video as always!

Fun review! I screened TIGER CLAWS (and sequels) during my HBO/CINEMAX days as a film programmer and we ended up buying these flicks. Jalal Merhi is legit as a martial artist and still produces movies to this day. And he is very pleasant in real life. Queen Cynthia is the best (and pleasant in real life as well). I also studied Tiger Claw Kung-Fu and it is one of the most aggressive fighting systems.

You guys hit your stride on this one and had me belly laughing at your one liners and play off each other's set ups (naturally). Keep up the great work & gracias!

If you all haven't done it yet, you really should check out the old MAD TV sketches with Will Sasso as Steven Seagal. One even includes David Carradine. The best part is that Sasso's size was supposed allude to Seagal being out of shape, but now he really does just look like Steven Segal.

I know this is unrelated to this video, Jason... but I hope you are sitting down for this... Seagal is in pre-production for making "Above the Law 2", reprising his role as Nico Toscani". And even better, he's the sole writer for it! If it gets made, I hope you guys do a SBIG episode on it while it's still new!

Another great gem covered! 90's action films just hit differently and anything with Bolo is for sure a fun watch. Also I just looked up some trivia on the film and the main actor (who is a Brazilian/Lebanese/Canadian-born citizen) dropped 2.5 mil of his own money (after selling his jewelry business to form a film company) into this film, so for sure that side boob dress and tongue-fu final kiss scene were for sure a part of his "creative input". Too bad some of that money couldn't get him some better plugs.😆

The moves they do are real. Tiger Claw, etc., the "wrist fighting" is all useful. It's just they blow it out of proportion. The back and forth with the forearms against each other lets you feel each other out, where someone might leave an opening, you can push off it and strike, they might recover and block. Works on reflexes, curbing patience, and trying to feel out another opponent in close proximity.

15:08 I was hoping the hand conditioning scene in this movie would of had one guy pushing his fingers into hot sand, another gravel and a third scooping turds out of a cat litter box. It's tiger style after all!

Great video, Erin's reactions to Cynthia's books is hilarious, Jason your wisecracks are awesome, I highly recommend checking out Martial Law which has Cynthia Rothrock, Chad McQueen (Steve's son) & David Carradine as the bad guy. For top tier Rothrock Yes Madam with Michelle Yeoh and Righting Wrongs with Yuen Biao Trust me you'll love both these.

Oh boy!!! Jason & Erin...you know how to entertain your viewers!!!😆 The Dill..umm Bill Pickells character, Bill Pickells is his real name. He's a martial arts master in Canada, as I'm sure you could tell that Tiger Claws was made in Canada. There isn't much online about Bill Pickells. In Tiger Claws he basically played an over-the-top version of himself. The point in the video when you asked why Chung was doing all the killing, that had already been assumed. The assumption is that the reason Chung is killing masters is to regain respect for the art of Tiger Claw. I also think another reason that was alluded to more was the scene when Chung and the Tiger Claw master are practicing. It was obvious that the Tiger Claw master didn't think Chung was either not that good or not fulfilling his potential and of course Chung had to prove him wrong. The competition between Tarik and the other guy James while training. That's with anything. But, if you've trained in the martial arts, there's going to be points of time where there there's at least 2 different people who are really good or the best in the class and they are always paired up against each other, and when they spar, there both always get hurt. I haven't had that happened to me with classmates I've trained with in martial arts schools I've trained in because I would have to spar with students who were of a higher belt than me because there would be no classmates that had the same belt as me or would have similar skill as me. But, when I would spar with everyone else, there would be a few students would try to turn the knob up on their skill. But it helped me too because I was never an aggressive fighter, meaning that I was never an offensive fighter-going out of the gate at someone. I was more of a defensive fighter-they come after me and then I respond. It worked for me because of being taller and having long legs, so I could put distance between . But, you always have to know how and when to be on the offense. The scenes where they would put their hands in the hot woks with the hot water and chains, the hot sand, Bolo putting that hot stuff on his face and in his mouth. That is Shaolin body toughening exercises. And it's basically what you would think it does, toughens your hands, fingers, wrists, bones for fighting. Bolo's version of it is on the extreme side. It's basically the same thing that you see in Japanese, Thai kickboxing, etc martial arts movies when the person is hitting/kicking boards and poles that are wrapped in rope or not wrapped in rope.

Ok you ready for this? Sifu Segal haircut guy is Jalal Mehri. He is a Brazilian-born Canadian Actor/Producer/Director who's parents were Lebanese immigrants. He worked as a jewelry salesman until he had enough money to quit and pursue acting/directing/producing....So yeah - definite vanity project 😄. Also, those are hair plugs. He was going bald and did hair transplants. They were still "fresh" back then but looks more natural now that he's aged and not sporting the Sifu Segal hairstyle. BONUS FACT: He also produced/directed a movie with David Carradine in 2001 called "Guaranteed On Delivery".

I looked up Jalal Merhi and his wiki page actually says he is known as "Beirut’s Steven Seagal." because of the amount of B movies he has starred in.
