@@BearsDenOneinVain a freestyle doesn’t mean “off the top”. This is a HUGE misconception to those outside of being a “rapper”. A freestyle is “you are free to use what ever style you see fit” to flex your lyrical ability with no set message. You can choose off the top, fillers, or written. There is no formula and is open to be a Free-style. 🙏

From what I understand, there are a few meanings to "Freestyle"; Cliff has even talked on this in some videos. You are right that he isn't doing it "Off the top"; growing up, I always heard this was what Freestyle meant. Nowadays, Freestyle is also used to describe when somone doesn't switch from a verse into a hook/chorus, then back to verse. Token is doing this type of Freestyle. I'm not sure when or why this was included in the term freestyle, but this is what I've heard from people over recent years, as I've gotten back into rap.

If you want some great storytelling from a totally different genre, King Park by La Dispute. May or may not need lyrics, it’s a different kinda vocals than you’re used to, but impactful lyricism in every song
