I definitely believe it’s on purpose. Stardew has plenty of innuendos. From the mayor losing his underwear in a woman’s room to then requesting you bring him truffle oil and telling you not to ask why… there’s already some cause for concern lmao. I don’t know about the other spouses, but I married Shane and he was very eager to talk about our private activities. The ones I remember vividly from him are something along the lines of: “Why don’t you tell me about your day when we are in bed tonight?” Which may not mean anything but probably does. “Wondering why I have this grin on my face? You have a short memory span, don’t you?” Which DEFINITELY means something considering how the game itself lets you know he blushes while saying it. And my personal favorite: “What juices, you ask? Haha you’re weird.”
I think it’s a little of both. The items are randomized for the requests, but the wording of the requests definitely comes off as a cheeky joke from the dev. It’s kind of like Mad Libs where it leaves much to the imagination by making a request for a random object and saying “You know what it’s for!”
Yeah i had her ask me for like Some kind of fish, like a bass or something with that same "GIRLS ONLY: you know what its for..." Request xD ive seen the Super Cucumber one but never a different type of fish 😂😂😂
Don't forget Lewis asks for truffle oil and specifically to not ask him why and when delivered he says "ah yes, nice and slick, this will do" (i did play as male)
The item is randomized every time, it's usually not either of those items. Hailey requests this multiple times throughout the game but it's a different item every time, so it's just coincidence.
@@phasi2182 It’s _possible_ that it’s just dialogue that never got corrected, but as far as anyone can tell from her “liked gift” lines, the girl eats rocks as easily as she likes snacks. To my knowledge, no one has any real world explanation for what the heck that’s about, and there have been enough updates to the game that, if they noticed/it _was_ supposed to get corrected, it hasn’t been.
What about when mayor lewis asks if you can find his "shorts" but they are actually underwear and you find them in Marnie's room and one secret note says to check a bush at 12:00 or 12:40 and you find both in that bush doing something and one of Marnie's secret dialogue bits is if you walk on she has a rare chance to say "for a second I thought you were lewis"
Mayor Lewis asks for you to get his lucky purple shorts from Marnie's room. He gets embarrassed if you wear them, and you can also blackmail him with them to win the prize for the Stardew Valley Fair. He also asks for truffle oil later on after you retrieve them. There's also a secret note that tells you to check the bushes next to the bridge leading to the beach at 11pm at night or so, and I'm not sure which bush it is or what season it has to be (if any) but if you shake the bush at that time, Marnie and Lewis will pop out of the bush and go running off to their respective houses. This is 1000x funnier if you're married to Shane.
Mine was too, until someone described how and Why she may want a super cucumber. But my want of this game being pretty innocent is that the quest item is randomized, she's asked in the same words for some other fish, once a gemstone, and another time i think was a food item so
She is also the most affectionate wife with her daily interactions. The others are pretty distant and lackluster in their interactions. At least when I played a few years ago. Dont know if it has changed.
It’s a coincidence as every item request they give works like this. Haley asks for every item with those lines, some just sound dirtier than others. It’s the same thing that leads to Abigail saying “how did you know I was hungry?” when given quartz
@Meme-man.. She uses the exact same line regardless of what the item is. If it's something phallic like an eggplant is may sound sexual but it's the exact same line when she requests something like milk or flowers

A few of the marriage candidates get out of control. After marriage, you have the option to tell Harvey that his linguini with clams smells like his moustache. That traumatized the fuck out of me.
