Hello fam, it certainly has been a minute but in this review we are back taking a look at another electric skateboard, that honestly is a bit of a unicorn, of course I'm talking about the Metroboard X22, rocking 6500 watts of combined power and a Lacroix Stormcore 60D+ and a 12s4p battery make the Metroboard more than an adequate contender against Evolve Skateboards, but is the cost of the X22 really worth it?
As always you can keep up to date on my esk8 adventures inbetween episodes on instagram at:

Huge thank you to Jackson and Jeff and the whole team over at Metroboard for giving me the oppertunity to review this board

⚡ *Back with a bang!* ⚡ Nice to see someone go into the updates on the MetX. Build quality on MetroBoards are unreal. I do miss Ilan's videos and banter online though. The DKwan style future edit was a nice touch 😂

For sure, Metro was a king back in the day but Ilan had it in a downslide last few years so stoked to see Jeff come in and start shaking things up. If you liked that DK nod then strap in cause I got some wild bits for the Atlas video coming up 🤣

All my boards have been Metroboard. I ordered this one too, asked them not to send it until everything is ready and connected. My last two Metroboards were top quality and powerful, that is why I do not mind the higher price. Can't wait till I get it.

I don't appreciate your comment about Metroboard being in a downslide in the last few years while I was still owner. Just so you know I officially left the company in April 2021. And we released the initial MetroboardX in April 2019 which took about 2 years of development to design and source parts for a completely new model with 90% custom made parts. That is in fact an impressive development cycle. Compare that to Jeff's track record who even after 19 months having the company in his hands has made only minor incremental improvements to the board. Doesn't even seem clear it's going to be released in 2022 like its name implies. Seems like the 22 stands for 2 little 2 late. How's that for a downslide?
@DredSk8
@DredSk8 Год назад
@@ilan-sabar to be fair the original Metro X was also a bit of a late response to a market that had majorally moved on development wise by the time it arrived, so from an outsiders perspective it did appear that long term success for the brand was not in the cards from a fundamentals standpoint.
@DredSk8
@DredSk8 Год назад
Also please don't misconstrue that as me being a dick just cause, that's just my honest observation from an outsider perspective.

The trucks are so cool. 😎

They are definitely unique in a sea of Evolve clones, so few other manufacturers use precision trucks, so they really pop when you see the X next to other DKP boards 🤙

For a 12s4p that’s about the range I’d expect if the board has decent power, production boards that size getting 40km range regularly are underpowered even with their quick off the line trick that dies off once they hit 20kph
@DredSk8
@DredSk8 Год назад
For sure, thats the main trade off, its a little thirsty but that raw power you get vs something like the Atlas is just chefs kiss so willing to take the hit on range, also that charger can top you off in like hour and a half if your in a GR

I thought Metroboard was out of business and hoyt st took over their inventory ?
@DredSk8
@DredSk8 Год назад
They are essentially selling off the old stock and launching the X22 as a refresh of the original X with more robust internals, at least thats the plan anyways

@@DredSk8 I always look at metroboard as my top 3 if I had crazy money and no worries about 6 months warranty I would have definitely get one, went they put the 1year warranty I was about to pull the trigger but then a bunch of companies started coming out with better specs and cheaper price, so I fell back and just focus on only putting down $2000 max on a New Boards. I think they need to drop the price come out with a display mode, and features that no other board has By the way the board I pull the trigger on was ONSRA CHALLENGER BELT and it was complete garbage that company even stole my money never ship me my accessories or refund me, customer service is the worst and rude, cheap parts on Onsra boards, repairs service makes the Onsra boards Weaker and Slower... I wish I have the money for a Metroboard X22 Now!
@DredSk8
@DredSk8 Год назад
@@wtonph6443 thats unfortunate I've heard mixed thing about Onsra, I'm curious to try their boards but yeah on paper they dont offer much specs wise, its also worth noting with metro that they are generally good and parts and service beyond the initial six month period same as Hoyt in that department which is what the real value add is here IMHO when compares to the evolves and Exways of the esk8 world

@DredSk8 6 месяцев назад
Yup and worth it, what you pay for is the service, component quality and performance with Metro, it really is a different experience from say exway/evolve ect, though there is defo more competition at the mid to.high end these days from like Acedeck etc.
@BN99239

@@DredSk8 I've seen a few riders with Metroboards in the group I ride with and they no doubt look nice. I just didn't expect that price tag for those specs. There's also Mboards here too, great service and I talked to the guy that single handedly puts my board together with pictures and videos along the way. They're based in Las Vegas and their Endurance is much less than $3300 and uses a 12s8p with other high quality components. Not to bash on Mboards, but it just seems a bit over priced compared to other boards that are also made here in the US and fall in the boutique category.
@DredSk8
@DredSk8 6 месяцев назад
@@BN99239 theres defo more boards on the market with competitive specs to cost value since the X22 launched, in the case of mboards I would still tilt towards metro if were talking overall quality, the endurance is more a boutique project board currently, not knocking it of course, but theres a lack of final polish on the endurance and the interstellar in general, though I pin that more to Mboards being in the process of building out their in house manufacturing operations. The X22 imho falls under the luxe board category for sure though.
@BN99239
@BN99239 6 месяцев назад
@@DredSk8 yes I do agree that it looks better and more of a finished product than a DIY, but that's asking a lot of money for that kind of range
