We look at how much the USMS SOG are paid otherwise known as the Special Operations Group which is a branch of the US Marshals. We also take a look at the full expenditure of USMS SOG.
@@drossi101USMS definitely isn’t the fastest lmao. Capitol police is pretty quick, customs is about a year. Border patrol is about a year as well. Much faster than USMS
@@Jerryleedlelee As far as feds that people actually want to work for. Capital police and customs might as well be security guards, and border patrol pays terrible and the work conditions are terrible. You can get hired with USMS in a year, it took me 8 months and I have a buddy who just finished the academy and it took him 10 months. USMS let’s you choose the state you work in, you can apply to a state, if you are willing to relocate anywhere it doesn’t take nearly as long. Do you even work for them or you’re just making stuff up?
US Marshals are paid at a General Schedule or GS rating from GS-5 to GS-13 including a 25% increase for federal law enforcement pay or LEAP and location pay (living in Los Angeles will pay more than living in Kansas City Missouri. It does not matter what you do in the US Marshals you will be paid at that rate. Also a US Marshal cannot make more than a US Senator who is paid $178,000 per year. These are federal employees maybe their equipment costs that much but they themselves are paid a maximum of $178,000 per year.
It really blows my mind that Delta operators only get paid a tiny fraction of what these guys make per year. Delta probably gets millions more of government funding than MSOG, yet the average Delta guy makes 30-40k a year while these guys make 225k? I get military service is "service," but still...
I know... These guys wouldn't hold a candle to any tier 1 smu... The only capable law enforcement unit that is somewhat on par with a tier 1 smu is the FBI HRT and that's me being generous. I will say though that FBI HRT operators have been augmented to SMU's overseas. But the salary that these marshal's guys get is fucking ridiculous.
These guys only get paid $40-50k a year idk where he found this info. Highest i seen a marshal get paid is a little over 100k with the D.A civilian ranks GS-15
Salary is waayyyyy off. A federal agents salary is capped at no more than a junior congressman. Which is $165,000…..where the crap did this guy get $229,000???
I'm pretty sure that cap only applies to base salary. They can surpass the cap through LEAP pay, locality pay and overtime. Many feds make well over 200k due to overtime.
You’re right. They get their base salary plus LEAP. For a GS-13, which they are, the total is under $200 grand a year even in the high locality areas (Houston, LA, San Fran, New York and Washington) LEAP is the built in OT all 1811’s get. Plus the pay cap will affect their salary. An example of this is Houston. A GS 13-10 in Houston loses money each pay check because of the cap. Any overtime over a 10 hour day has to be scheduled prior to the new work week.
@AndrewRink That's because they don't get a standard GS-13 pay and the info on their pay was taken directly from the "United States Marshals Service FY 2022 Performance Budget President’s Budget Submission" so the figures for their pay are definitely accurate. It's page 85 of that document if you want to fact check
Those guys are awesome. That's the dream job for sure. Don't know if I wanna be SOG but for sure something within the USMS that has to do with law enforcement
Start out as a deputy sheriff (or police officer, either one. One term of military service doesn’t hurt either combined with that)… work custody first, then move up. That’s what my friend did. After a few years as a DS he applied and it’s what they look for.
@@andresc5915 Any chance I could reach out to your friend? I'm interested in this and looking for info. Army MP 5 years, currently a Marine Corps rifleman, have my associates and am working on bachelor's. This is definitely an option I'm looking into and would love to talk to someone in and around it.
@@nathanieljimenez1151 With that bro… be a deputy sheriff at a jail. Custody is a big thing with marshals. My buddy was LASD and they all start out with 1-3 years in the jails working custody. If you already have worked in a custody/jail environment as an MP then go straight for the marshals.
@@andresc5915 As far as law enforcement, as cliche as it could sound the idea of "grabbing the bad guys" is what attracts me the most. The "door kicker" and tracking down the criminals realm of work that draws me in the most. From what I've researched so far, it seems like the Marshalls SOG is a good place for that sort of thing. But joining it or even getting info on how to has been pretty hard, hell, even getting a hold of a recruiter for them has been hard. That's why I'd love to hear from your buddy so that hopefully I can get some real life insight on it.
@@andresc5915 Not that I don't trust your word man. I actually did think about LASD, but my wife and I wanna get out of California when I finish up my time with the Marines.
Any US Government worker thats LE/MIL I CAN GARANTEE does not get paid anywhere remotely close to even $200,000 unless youre a VERY high ranking military officer. Youre not telling me some marshal is making more than a 4 star military General, or Admiral😭
SOG deputies apprehend the worst of the worst violent criminals in the United States. When they are tasked with a mission they are working literally 24 hours a day Deputy sleep off sitting in the backseat of a car or in a van they do surveillance of the most incredibly dangerous people that you have ever seen with little or no recognition that's the way it is. They're trained in Louisiana on a former military installation the work is grueling punishing and up until very recently unrewarding and the fact that they're getting paid with they get is a little comfort to the trauma that they have to endure on a daily basis.
@@firasajoury7813 I just find it incredible how easy it is for certain crimes to carry on in the open without a single word or the blink of an eye of the exact people tasked specifically with stopping those crimes. Just strange, how that works out!
I can’t believe they’re all paid as GS15 Step 10 in literally the highest locality, but they are highly valued federal employees. I’m sure there’s imminent danger pay, LE differential, and other bonuses. If you take into account all the retirement contribution and health care pay, it might equal out to that much, but that seems like way more than it could be. If that were the case, delta force and navy seals would be leaving en masse for rock star salary.
This is completely false and you haven't done any research whatsoever. Federal Agents earn their salary through the GS Scale, which caps off under 200k at the HIGHEST level (as in a supervisor for an entire division)
There’s a reason they call it Super Overtime Group (SOG) lol. I doubt they make over 150K with overtime and cool guy pay but combine the GS’s with the extra pay and it’s not unthinkable to say they make well over 100K at times
Misleading. "All types of pay and benefits" is not the same as salary. Congress members only make about $174k per year in salary. Don't believe what you see online.
Fact check: the Bearcat and MRAPs that come out of military surplus under DoD program 1033 results in "free" military surplus for civilian repurposing. Many law enforcement agencies across the country get their up-armored vehicles (and other gear) via this program. As such, your costing is drastically incorrect.
SOG selection is harder than a lot of SOF selection. I’ve been through both, and I have met multiple Rangers in SOG that would agree Ranger school wasn’t that much harder if at all than SOG selection.
I have a video out on fighter pilots linked below. Pretty much all pilots get paid the same no matter what branch of the military. ru-vid.com_rnbM-gzEG0
@@Rubelesstrue my brother law is a green beret and he don’t get paid enough. I make double what he makes and I’m a 1st class marine painter , makes no sense our hero’s should get paid more .
What’s up with all this US Marshall propaganda on my phone I think my algorithm must need to become a US Marshall and it makes sense. I’d get paid to buy shit. I already buy. 🇺🇸
False just plain wrong. You are reporting what it costs tax payers per sog member not what they make . They are federal government employees they are paid off of a gs rank scale and the dudes on sog are not at the top rank of that scale . They prolly make somewhere between 80-120k tops
