Hey there I am interested in this game and appreciate your video. What was that camera thing you used? I assume its what you are recording video with. Is that camera tool available for the Quest 2? I am kind of new to VR and at 51 I am not as spry on picking up things. Much thanks for your video and any direction you can point me.
This game always rules for some sessions while taking a break from DCS. I really think ED could learn alot about correct VR implementation or nice usability of weapon systems in their game from this one. Loving the AH-94 attack helicopter in VTOL.
Yeah man, I forgot how much I can actually enjoy VTOL VR. And now that I know custom missions are stupid simple to find and download, I'll likely be hopping into this game more often
I honestly dont know what ED could learn from VTOL VR. There is so much functionality just on the HOTAS of real aircraft that you cant ever adapt all of it to VR controllers. In the first place, VTOL VR is so comfortable in VR because the entire game was made around that, not the other way around.
I used to test the early VTOL VR versions with you back in the day (InvisibleStrike). I love how far this game has come, and I'm super excited about that new DLC as well. Adding electronic warfare is going to open up a lot of tactics for Coop and PvP.
You can also click the stick to lock anything you are looking at, super useful for switching targets quickly. Also, if the TGP/EOTS is set as the SOI, holding the stick will set it to head mode. You can control the TGP without ever touching the screen
The camera angles on this are great man, i know that this game can be kind of hard to make the camera look good on the exterior and manage to fly a jet at the same time. definitely looking forward to the F-14 in vr! 🤟
Thanks! I tried playing around with a bunch of the available camera modes, but I ended up landing on simply "Random", 10sec, and MSSL. It gave the best variety of shots. I wonder if there's a way to have a choose which shots are available to the random cycler.
Extremely awesome, and exactly when I started playing Vtol VR Again after like a 6 month break. I missed crashing 100 million dollar aircraft into the ground at the speed of sound with both wings either missing or on fire.
i played vtol vr for the first time yesterday, was shown by a friend what to do in the trainer jet easy. i then had laterally no problem flying this jet, took off normally, took off with vtol and the apposite as well.
Not sure if u are aware of some of the capabilities of the weapons and the plane, since u r coming in after a while. The agm-145 are LOAL capable. So u can set a gps mark on the ground near some hostiles and set it as spi and fire the missile. The missile will pick a target and home in. So u can get creative with how you employ it, like firing it behind a hill etc. Good for SEAD/DEAD. The aim-120 D is data link capable, so you dont need to turn ur own radar on to guide the missile. And since the f-45 can get enemy plane position from their emission or from the eots, most cases you never need to turn on the radar.
it sounds like the RWR/ARAD stuff will get toned down in the next update though, so might not be as reliable in the F-45 anymore either... Though datalink from overlord or flight members will still cover lots of cases.
@@LazyBoot I've not heard about any nerfing on the f-45 for ew. But the e-24 steam page does mention that it has the same 5th gen send fusion and DL capabilities as the f-45. I think signal triangulation or some kind of complexity will be introduced and that'll introduce more depth.
@@ShawnF0912 the main change was shown in the of the shorts released a few days ago, and while shown on the FA-26 it wasn't mentioned as being specific to only it. The change that was mentioned showed that you'll only get azimuth and not range from the ARAD systems. As part of the updates to the radar/rwr/ewar systems.
@@WisKy64VT honestly I have both and I play vtol more. The immersion in the cockpit cannot be matched by dcs currently. Plus it’s much easier to get into a session, spend an hour blowing things up, and then jumping off in VTOL VR, and as a father of 4 with limited game time available, that’s a HUGE factor for me.
It's a custom mission made by a community member, but I can't remember the exact name. Something like ... "Open World Combat". Basically, one of the top-voted custom missions for the F-45A.
Quick tip, maybe record completely in first person via the s-cam, it gives a better quality. unless you wanna capture both, it's best to use that. i tend to switch to third person when i want to and switch back to first person when i'm not using it.
Yeah, I was debating on sticking to only 1st person and using only the s-cam for the stabilized view. But I REALLY wanted the varied angles and external shots too. I'm still investigating a better way to handle 1st person while still allowing s-cam to randomize.
@@Tuuvasyeah i would recommend switching to whatever mode you want whenever something epic happens. about to do some sick formation flight? switch to third person. missiles flying at you? switch to either third or first depending on what you prefer. nothing interesting happening? keep it to first person so if something funny and video-worthy happens(eg. somebody takes off from the carrier while someone is landing and the guy landing crashes into the heat deflector) it will be high quality and look good. best thing we can do rn. EDIT: forgot to mention earlier but just wanted to make sure you knew that they added a new g-limit system so if you use it dodging missiles will be easier. also turning off flight controls. the only plane you can do this in was the t-55 but in the f45 if you turn off the main battery the plane will fly but the flight computer will be off so you have essentially supermanueverability, just really uncontrollable and dangerous, will bend the airframe if overused.
@@Tuuvas oh...they had a detailed guide on the site so I figured that was what you had to do...I myself had to do it that way...hmmm...anyways, killer video :)
Yeah, usually VTOL VR is pretty good about figuring out what you were trying to say. I was just a complete dummy who forgot to set my VR headset as the correct microphone input device
Your voice issue was for whatever reason, they don't respond to "Flight" which I agree is absolutely wild trash. The entire flight responds to either "Just command", and you can order your #2 with "wingman" command." Still can't give indovidual flight aircraft orders.
The GBU-53 I dropped does have an optical sensor, allowing it to track moving targets. See here from the VTOL VR wiki: "The most important note about the GBU-53 is that it contains a built-in optical targeting system like the AGM-145 Ballista, giving it full fire-and-forget capabilities against moving targets. Consistent lock is not required for any targeting."
I've generally enjoyed using Oculus/Meta headsets since my first CV1. So that influenced my decision, especially considering I have a bunch of games in the Oculus/Meta library. Another reason is I play DCS in VR for content creation, and even a 4090 has a difficult time keeping up with my recording configuration for DCS. I don't need to add even more pixels to render on top of that with the Aero or Crystal
Next time you boot the game check your radio panel before using voice commands. I almost always have to pull up the oculus virtual desktop and switch focus from steam VR to the game itself (red text over the radio panel will tell you if the game isn't focused) Also I think there are several words for addressing your flight but I always use 'wingmen'. For air traffic control you have to address the carrier or airfield by name/number and I believe the name of that airfield is Akutan. And I prefer to leave the radio hot instead of ptt. Its never interrupted me aside from AWACS
Hi tuuvas it's me panic sorry if I don't come to your dcs streams anymore I can't connect my PS4 controller to ds4 windows(it doesn't recognize the controller) so I can't play dcs. Do you have any tips or a possible solution?
Unfortunately I can't be sure what's up without actually seeing what is happening for you. My only suggestion at this time is to just switch to Steam instead for setting up mouse control
Generally if your are he only airborne aircraft or there are not many friendly aircraft around momentary having the radar on and then back off is generally a bit better for situational awareness since without friendly radars detecting things for you or enemy radars emitting you can often find targets getting within 10 miles before the DAS detects them
