Hockey you are legit hitting a puck with a stick that can go flying in the air. Also people are smashing each other against the wall. I believe basketball is perceived to not be as wild as other sports. But also, they want money. Fans pay to sit that close. NBA knows what it's doing

@@jay903ster I'm not talking about the players who play it. They get paid a shit ton of money, and they know what they're in for. I'm talking about the safety of spectators. Granted, at this point whoever sits at the sidelines of basketball games should know what the risk is, but the fact of the matter remains - there are not enough safety measures between the game court and the audience. It goes both ways, too. Any crazy jerk can just break into the court in the middle of a game, or just simply overstep the boundaries and interfere. You can't do that in hockey. That if fucking mind blowing. But I guess people don't go to watch sportsmanship, they go to watch potential tragedies (like nascar)

@@roybenari I see what you mean. Then again, the only reason why they can't do that with hockey isn't to protect the players, it to protect the fans. They don't have that up to protect the players at all. Soccer, even though there's a huge space between the field and the stands, people still go and run on the field. Basketball again isn't meant to be a rough game, and a game where balls are flying into the stands. It rarely happens and players running into fans rarely happen as well. It doesn't happen every game. Can a fan get hurt? Yes, for sure. But they aren't going to change it. Fans like it tbh. If they didn't, they wouldn't choose the seats simply put. Volleyball doesn't have it either.

Realistically, if it was very common to get hurt, one must assume they would adjust. I still think it's baffling the little space between the court and the audience. In volleyball, the movement is way less erratic, but yea, it's probably not a real problem. Just fascinating, though
