The current map they are showing isn't that big at first glance but the areas could be, it seems to me that the map is a little bigger than 15. Open world in Final Fantasy games is a must in my opinion.

Honestly this game does not really look next generation to me games like Red Dead Redemption 2, The Last of US2 on last generation or even The Witcher 3 look like 10 times better to me and way more detailed in a lot of places than Final Fantasy 16. I honestly don't get why some people think that FF16 is going to be this showcase game for the power of those current gen consoles.

To be clear: it's not really open-world, but it's a wide open areas that they do in-between dungeons and scripted events. It's not fully open-world in the context we usually think of (i.e., wide open sandbox). So basically FFXIV format. Or if you wanna go even older, FFXII.

Same but the 13 series lasted 3 games and kinda sucked, and 15 wasn’t so good and the remake of 7 had serious flaws but was good. Its been a great franchise overall though and 16 looks better than ever graphically atleast and gameplay looks phenomenal.’

That village in the middle of the bombardment gave me Lindblum flashbacks, the poor industrial district. Also, very glad that characters don’t have the usual anime problem of becoming ancient as soon as they turn 30. Older Clive is hot. Also also - OMG I love the little sprites in the loading menu :)

FF9 is the best, since the story seems to be in part about destroyingor using up the crystals, I would love for them to bring back Necron. I absolutely loved his concept in ff9 as the incarnation of nothingness working towards making everyone feel life is meaningless and end all existence.

One idea I want to see: party members who automatically craft gear and handle busy work. Dragon’s Crown had a thief for instance. Makes me think of how certain party members in D&D might be support party members with minimal combat mode. Expands the adventuring party.

I am bummed that the Pax stream crapped the bed BUT this presentation was amazing! They purposely looked at all the negative feedback and made a presentation around it, amazing! I hope everyone takes a chance to see your video or the actual presentation after it was released because it has the same FF7R questions answered that many had in doubts in. Both Bahamut and Odin seem to have their own unique gauges, Odin’s builds up to Zantetsuken and Bahamut’s to Megaflare. Maybe depending on what level you’re at (1-5) you get access to different finishers?

One of my concerns was also that Clive was just going to be an angry and miserable character the whole game, but this helped alleviate some of that fear. Not only what Yoshi-P said, but also that short scene with Jill in the trailer. He actually looked sparkly-eyed, which is not something we've really seen. So I hope that means we'll get to see different sides of him through his interactions with friends. Also, did anyone else notice that the tune playing in the Hideaway area was a version of the song that played during the previous footage where Cid turns into Ramuh? It took me a minute to catch on, but after humming it to myself, I remembered lol.

I'd be fine with zones if the game was nonlinear. Unfortunately Japanese games are normally very linear and on rails unless they have open world's.

Players selected zones from a map screen in Dragon Age inquisition. Players could normally choose from several main questlines(each in a different Zone) at any point. Zones were large open spaces where players could freely travel to and start any of many main quests or side quests, dungeons or encounters. Dragon Age also has a branching storyline. All story developments, dialogues and cutscenes were interactive for the player, their choices affected the outcomes. Final Fantasy XVI looks like it will linearly guide you through a sequence of locations, quests and zones with lots of non interactive cutscenes.

I'm so excited for this game. Terrified of the action game play but happy that they have a training mode and the accessories that I can customize. For those who are wondering why FF main titles have greadually step away from turn base gameplay, It is important to keep things in perspective and consider the following: Yakuza like a Dragon has sold more than 490,000 copies (as reported on October 2022). Before its launch the total amount of sales the franchise had accumulated was 2.8 million units among all the games. Dragon Quest XI has sold over 6.5 million copies which expand several versions and ports for multiple platforms. Persona 5 has sold 8.3 million units globally but that is including the original version, the Royal version (3.3 million across all platforms), Persona 5 Strikers and P5: Dancing in Starlight. For those series which until now they have a more niche franchise, that is huge and impressive numbers in comparisson. But for a more mainstream series like FF, which FF XV has sold 10 million despite all its problems and beign in way less platforms (like Nintendo Switch) not so much. I am not saying that a turn-based FF game with a AAA budget could be done in the future, but now it may not be the right time.

Well shit.. I take back everything I said about this game. First of all I want to address something and I feel was one of the worst tags to give this game. This is NOTHING like God of war lol (all accept for maybe the eikon battles). But honestly not sure why Yoshi-p even said that, it threw everyone way off. The world can be explored fully, you can return to previous areas, run through dungeons again, grind in area’s to gain powerful lvls and do side content and even explore settlements at your own leisure. It is not set up like a restrictive stage environment with a single direct set path, like god of war is. I guess things aren’t always as they appear when you first see trailers and promotional material on the game, but Yoshi-p really addressed everyone’s concerns. Have to admit, I am a bit more sold now. They didn't even get to the burning last question of taking the RPG out of the game, but hell it looks like they kind of already shown enough rpg elements to satisfy me. I am in!! and I can't wait for more news come april.

Accessories ... For myself the Timely Focus (slows time) accessory sounds like a God send. I'll try it with nothing first off, may not need anything (or later in the game need it). But I'm shit at action games as I have no response time (medication). If that accessory gives me a bit extra time for dodging, etc... Yeah. I'll probably need that. But, I see a difference between accessibility (help with game mechanics), and "Accessibility" (changing color for color blindness, etc...). One you can play the game even if you suck at it (mechanics), the other the game isn't even playable to you. The "accessibility" word has just become muddled to mean both. Help with game mechanics isn't accessibility, it's lowering the difficulty so you can get past it.

A great and funny presentation. I think it's fine that the timely accessories is optional for those that want to use them, but having one that dodges every single attack is weird (you can never fail a battle). As great as this all was, I gotta say I'm disappointed by the party member situation. Seeing Cid and now Jill just standing around attacking every 5-10 seconds for minimal damage and doing nothing is so sad and is a big miss for me. I know a lot don't care, it's just a personal negative for me.

FFXV was open-world. This game (like FFXII, FFXIII and FFXIV) are instanced-based games. They can put more detail into zones that way, as they don't have to load up everything all at once. FFXV was open-world but most of it was just beautiful space with roaming monsters, and a few towns or villages scattered here and there. They can really up the ante with the details using this system.

I Really prefer open interconnected Zones rather than a bland Open world like FFXV, the only JRPG I remember which was able to achieve a good open world was Xenoblade X , but they sacrificed the plot in pro of sidequest content

Sounds like FFXVI will be linear. Not like it will have a free roaming world of interconnected zones like you might have seen in an MMO or classic western cRPGs and dungeon crawlers like Might & Magic, Fallout, Ultima or Baldur's gate.

Sorry dude, I was super excited and didn't want to keep pausing a 1 hour video to make it 2+ hours. I linked the main feed in the description for those who want to check that out. I tried to only talk when Yoshi P spoke because he is speaking Japanese before Koji Fox translates. Either way I hope you guys enjoy it. It's not easy to record a 1+ hour commentary video at 4am THEN edit that same footage until 7am because you essentially have to rewatch it. Especially after just getting home from a outing lol.

@@BltzZ I gotcha! What I mean is, I like your commentary along side the presentation but had to keep upping and lowering the volume depending on who was speaking. Either way, glad you uploaded.

Sadly it’s not open world, but certain parts of the game’s “levels” will have a sandbox aspect not quite open world though

I understand theres no sandbox aspect to Final Fantasy XVI. The world, content and gameplay are static. Like a theme park. Very few dynamic or reactive elements.
