I love how Sean is always paying attention so intently as if he's also reacting to the show for the first time 🤣I do sometimes forget he was behind the bar working during all of the episodes lol.
It's what makes him a great companion for a new reactor. Like, he remembers the really high-level stuff, but the details from episode to episode may be fuzzy from bar distractions.
I love how Tyrion's final words to Tywin are so closely drawn from the books. Tywin: "You... you are no... no son of mine." Tyrion: "Now that's where you're wrong, father. Why, I believe I am you writ small." In the end, Tyrion fell back on his lesson to Jon Snow, embracing that he's a dwarf when he gets that final jab at Tywin.
That fight WAS wild when we all first saw it. It was incredibly choreographed and shot, the combat just came across so visceral and real. This show has had rape, bodily mutilation, immolation, defenestration, corpse defiling, baby murdering, poisoning, and the moment that finally made me go, "whoa, guys, come on now, too far" was Brienne getting kicked in the cooch.
The Children is my favorite episode of this show. It's named after the children of the forest but it end up being about the main players children. That was when we finally started to get some win.
Watching Danaerys, the breaker of chains and freer of slaves, chain up her own children is always a hard scene for me. They are all so upset by the choice being made. It makes her seem like a bit of hypocrite in her ideals, even though I understand why she did it.
Hey, this is great. Reaction videos as a significant source of entertainment, over here. I also find that in itself fascinating, as nothing like it has really existed before the millennium. Game of Thrones and these guys started that for me. Its kinda oddly compelling to not only witness everyday people's authentic experiences but to see that everyday people can be real characters themselves. Angel certainly is every bit a character as everyone else on this ensemble cast of renegade misfits who are also just living their lives, being cool and amusing. Look forward to more. I love Angel for caring about Bran’s journey. The fandom is undeservedly mean about Bran. He’s not meant to be a melee fighter like Jon and that’s OK. He literally can’t walk! Most of anything wrong with his storyline is due to the show writers. Fans seem able to recognize that when it comes to issues with other characters, but for some reason Bran just gets blamed when it’s him.
27:40 Interesting that Angel picked up on not trusting Jaime. This was a big departure from the books. In the books, at this point Jaime reveals to Tyrion that his first wife Tasha was actually not a paid whore and she did really love Tyrion. So because the Lannister soldiers gang raped her in front of Tyrion that was a devastating reveal in the story. It also colors the Tywin and Tyrion ending when Tywin keeps referring to Shae as a whore. But for Tyrion he is thinking about the lies about his first wife. I get that it was too much to set up in the show but damn is it tragic in the books.
The books did much better with the Tyrion/Tywin scene. In the books, Jaime, when he frees Tyrion, confesses that the story that Tyrion’s first wife was actually a whore and the scenario was set up by Jaime, was a lie concocted after the fact by Tywin. That she had actually been Tyrion’s true wife. It puts the scene where his wife was given to the Lannister guards, and Tyrion was made to watch, in a whole new and disturbing light. And in the books, after the guards had their go, Tyrion went last, and gave her a gold coin, because Lannisters always pay in gold. Now THAT revelation is true motivation that could drive someone to murder their father. Tyrion suffered Tywin’s insults and slights all his life. He heard Tywin admit that he wanted to toss Tyrion into the sea when he was born. He didn’t act at those points. Only after learning that Tywin manipulated the situation in such a horrid fashion did son seek to murder father.
One interesting background to know is that Tywin was hand of the king before and had tunnel connections made between the tower of the hand and the brotels, so not only Tywin was f'n hoes, he had special arrangements made just so he could do it in a hidden way, all while judging Tyrion very harshly for doing openly what he does in secret, hipocrisy lv 100+
It's the openness of it that made him angry. Tyrion was constantly sloppy drunk and carousing, being embarrassing. Dad was more concerned about the optics and the honor of the family name. I think Tywin fully expected his son to obtain relief from sex workers, since the lords of Westeros weren't jumping to arrange a marriage with their daughters. Tywin himself could've easily remarried, but didn't want to "replace" Lady Joanna, whom he truly loved. He wouldn't have said a word if Tyrion kept his business on the DL.
@@melissablackwood I see what you mean, but I think it has more to do with the way GRRM portrays the lannisters and the concept of pride that surrounds them, wich in many cases takes the form of hubris and hypocrisy (Tyrion included)... Tywin saw his mother get replaced by a commoner wich his dad spoiled with all kinds of wealth, Tywin did not aprove of that, and thought of her as a whore, so the reason he hiddes his own affairs is not only to save political face, it's a deep conflict in his own morality, something he doesn't accept in himself so he projects it out by judging others for doing what he does, it's a whole psychological hotmess, I think that if it was just for saving pride and the image of the family, he wouldn't even dare do it himself, but he's also a devious, lustful little thing, just like he said to his son.

I can’t believe you think killing Shaye is justified She was a survivor and she was a pawn to all of them. You really feel she should have stuck by a man who literally cast her aside for his political gain??! (He chose kings landing over her) I can’t understand the psychology behind that being okay in the real world- to be so loyal to swim in a pond of poisonous snakes with NO ONE looking out for you- and the person you were there for doesn’t even chose you… Would you really??? Come on now. If you were cast aside and expendable to someone and you are among killers - why would you not do everything to survive. Tyrion wasn’t supposed to be there in that room. She wasn’t saying “my lion” to rub salt in his wounds. She knew he was there with killer instinct when she saw him broken out of jail after wishing death on everyone. The fact that you feel murdering her when he caused the mess up of that moment by not being where he was supposed to be as Varys told him the path to freedom. He was THERE WITH ILL INTENT. Is this peak Thrones? The first four episodes of season 5 was released early on torrent. I think that was a reason for the season 5 hate. But literally the last 3 episodes of season 5 are some of the best.
I remember an article written at this time ranking the episodes and this was number one. It persuaded me at the time because I counted Rains of Castamere as the best episode at that time. Then Hardhome came out and that was my favorite episode. Then The Winds of Winter came out and that ended the argument for me as the best episode.

The thing that bugs me about Shae is they portrayed her as really smart and loyal, but then when Sansa enters the picture she loses all her IQ and loyalty
Btw. I just watched Who Do You Think You Are - the episode with Charles Dance. It was wonderful. He is sweet, classy & so personable & funny. Same laugh he uses for Tywin.
Stannis is f*cking sexy. Silver Fox energy for sure. So I feel ya, Angel. The Brieane and Hound fight tore my soul. Who do you root for? For me it was the Hound. Because he was right. She did nothing for the Stark girls. She appears in the pocket of the Lanasters. Also, how sick was that fight? Also how sick was it was the come from behind victory of Stannis? He came in clutch. Clutch!!!! Also. F*ck Shay. I mean every one else has. I just hate her. Genuinely hate her. She was so upset about the forced Marriage to Sansa that she betrayed us all. Angel. I agree with Angel, I think Shae is playing a role & surviving. I think when Tywin said at the pre-wedding dinner to have Shae "brought to the tower of the hand", I think they got her from the ship, or she got off the ship to go back to the castle. Either way, they got her, made her (with some of her own anger & hurt) testify against Tyrion. I think when she said "I'm a whore, remember " at the trial, I think that was actual hurt. I wonder if when she said 'he made me call him my Lion', if Tywin got back to her in his room & was like "I am the lion!!"

@@MFBloosh I agree those seasons have some great episodes (I love hardhome and the winds of winter), but they have some real stinkers as well. Season 1 and 3 are the consistently best seasons imo.
This episode use kept throwing shock and trauma again and again. You definitely need tissues by the truck full with this show. I had tears watching your reactions (hugs for Angel, as always). Still, a few of happy times at the end though. Also, I love the score for GoT too and always love listening to a lot of tracks from the whole series.
This episode is truly a mic drop of an episode. Lol. The one scene I truly can not rewatch is the Dany isolating her Dragons scene.... I'm a huge animal person.... and it tears me up inside to even have to think doing that. Emilia was just perfect in her performance. For the record, you two have been my favorite GOT pairing since I started watching reactions!!! There is something so charming about both of you and your friendship. You're both relatable & unique. You can tell Sean is truly surprised by some things because he hasn't seen it in so long (or was potentially busy tending bar). And I so agree with Angel that he is doing a great job of watching along with him & genuinely reacting as well to all of these moments while not letting him catch on! This series with you two has been such an unexpected joy & I can't tell you how happy each episode has made me!!! Thank you from the bottom of my GOT loving heart. My own personal favorite episode of the series. Maisie has some outstanding silent acting in the scene where she just watches The Hound. Tywin has an epic death scene when Tyrion gets his revenge. In the commentary the Lannister siblings mess around. When the line the giant went into your tunnel Lena repeats it amusingly and Peter says "But you weren't in that scene? I thought it only happens in the scenes that your in." Lena says "I play the giant"
Been waiting for this one with bated breath. While the death of our lord and savior Oberon was terrible, this episode is a banger and a whole set up for the second half of the series.

This whole season was phenomenal! This Season finale was truly epic! Oh Angel, I wanted to hug you so often during this one. One thing after the other, I was a mess too first time I saw this.
