Few thoughts/ideas on why your shaft might be doing that...may not be the answer but..Your bands will react differently in cold water compared to warmer water in Hawaii, usually you'll see a decrease in power, this could somehow contribute to it although I don't really think so. Maybe do some target shots with different band setups, one band vs two bands, on different tabs and see if it changes anything. I used to live/dive in Kona so I know it seems ridiculous but try loading one band at full power and then the second on the rest tab if your shaft has one. Often times you don't need two bands at full power in PNW/West coast diving and it may actually make a difference to have less power. Fish are dumb here and you can get away with a lot more than you would in Hawaii, so sometimes less power and slower shaft is ok. Trial and error. Could also be the way you're loading your bands, I would try pulling the front band through the back band and loading it on the closest tab to your body, and then loading the back band in front of that if that makes sense. It'll allow your bands to sit really nice and parallel with each other and not over top of each other. So basically load your bands in reverse order from what you're doing now. Fish and Dive Hawaii has a video called "how to load a speargun the right way" showing how to do this. I'm not 100% positive that it'll actually make a difference but that's how I do it and maybe I just like the way the bands look when its loaded this way haha. But I'm not saying it's the "right way" it's just one way.
Great stuff man, keep it going, RU-vid needs to include you more in the algorithm… btw I commented on a Hawaii vid, said we should dive together and you might be able to teach me a lot. You were really nice in your reply 👌🏼
Great vid I just got done spearfishing in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. Epic shots I got on my GoPro 8. Just got to keep practicing taking videos. So far I'm impressed with this action cam. How can I send you a clip I'd like to share them with ya. Peace n good vibes your way✌️☮️
I don’t know the scientific differences, but they look quite a bit different (other than both being flat), and halibut grow a lot larger than flounder do.
This new Yazbeck 7.5 mm suit I picked up let’s me stay in pretty much as long as I like! Spent one day in it for a couple hours and stayed warm. Water temp was in the low 50s I believe. I know people dive in these suits all winter long here, but I’m not sure what the spearfishing is like later on (some fish go deep deep).
