Wow! I haven't seen a haul like that since I was a kid! If you've never hauled in more than a thousand at a time, you don't know what you're missing! Very exciting..never could learn pole fishing!
You can do this job if you're into crappy wet weather, no-see-ums, stinging jelly fish, no sleep, a skipper that screams loudly, ( not all) no guarantees for success every season, and barfing until you get your ses legs. These are just a few of a fisherman's favorite things!

Thanks for putting that food on the table 💪💯. Good stuff hard work. Does it pay good? Bet you have to have some sort of experience to work on a ship like that.
It can pay good depending on how many you catch! Seining usually requires some experience but not always. Tendering is a good way to get into the industry.
You filled two and a half tenders, or was it three? Is there any breakdown on total caught in the number of fish? How much did the boat get paid, and what was used for the Kodiak area salmon permit holders? And did the salmon go to food banks, or was it all sold to the market?
I think it was two and a half tenders… I like to stay away from numbers in my videos, but we did really well! Most if not all of this fish was sold on the market.

Cost Recovery is a special season at the hatchery where the hatchery allows the processors to bid on quotas, then the processor selects boat(s) to participate in cost recovery. Boats get paid a fraction of the normal price per pound, but the volume can make up for it.

That’s what all those rings are that come up along the side of the boat-they’re attached to the bottom of the net. This video explains it a little better ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h9K2JLduw_Q.htmlsi=rUUP8jgS-qAinmY1

I’m in California. I don’t think I’ve ever seen pink salmon at the store. Generally we sockeye, silver, and rarely king. Does these just stay up there or are they canned?
They get canned primarily. There are some fresh market sales in Japan. Maybe S. Korea and China by now. Like tuna is usually in a can outside of California and the 5 star restaurants.
