@@ATZCMinistries it’s enough! You can add other classes as well. You will love it 🥰 yes I have used it for 1st grade and now 2nd grade. I also use the pre- k curriculum for my 4 year old.
@@lovejesus186 I am a single Mom and I homeschool. This is our 2nd year homeschooling. God has been MORE than faithful to me 🙌🏻 I'm not sure what you mean about grants? But I do homeschool in the morning with my daughter & then from 3pm to around 8-9pm I do delivery (Uber Eats, Door Dash, Grub Hub, etc..) My daughter is 9 and does come with me. I am self employed & make about $600-650 a week, only working 4-5 hours an evening & I can work whenever I want & how much I want. I also am a VA (Virtual Assistant) on the side that brings in $ as well. It took much prayer to take the leap but my daughter was dealing with so much bullying at public school & she was also so behind academically & I couldn't get help from the school. I made so many excuses to God on why I couldn't homeschool as a single Mom, and even though it is EXTREMELY hard & I am tired, He gives me His strength EVERY DAY! Plus, I have a son who is 19, who graduated a year ago from public school & I saw first hand what the public school system did to him. Once they hit junior high... ITS OVER. The peer pressure, the drugs, the indoctrination, other kids... Especially as a single Mom w/no Father figure around.. I went through HELL. Literal HELL and then some. So PLEASE take it from a Momma who has been there & done that, TAKE YOUR BABIES OUT OF PUBLIC SCHOOL. God WILL MAKE A WAY. I PROMISE! God Bless you ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I'm a soon-to-be mother of five, residing in Toronto, and currently navigating the world of homeschooling. While I am passionate about personally teaching my children, I often find myself bombarded with unsolicited opinions from others. Your support and the wealth of information you provide for parents like me is truly invaluable. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do. Thank you so much! ❤❤
Oh yeah my husband and I received and still receive the unsolicited opinions from others mainly relatives. They say how will they socialize, get new experiences, meet new people, etc the list goes on. My oldest who’s 4 loves being homeschooled. I personally couldn’t fathom with having her under someone else’s care and not knowing what is going on.
Mom of 4 here, just withdrew my kids and will be homeschooling all 4 of my kids ages 4-13. Most of the naysayers are family and friends. Oh well, I’m gonna do what’s best for my kids, and I feel this is it.
To homeschooling parents in the comments I suggest you look into ESAs for your state. It provides you the funds for schooling that would otherwise be given to the public school if your child was enrolled. In Arizona any child who is homeschooled(but it’s called home education I guess the state made it a difference) qualifies for an ESA. It means Empowerment Scholarship Account.
@@HerHealthyHome you are welcome I think there is less than 10 states that have a similar program but it’ll be worth the look to see if your state has it.
@@crystalwinterland8214 you’re welcome. I stumbled across this back in March (while looking for ways I can get paid to homeschool my kids) by accident but I’m glad I did.
Thanks! Reviewing the info, I just found out FL Gov. DeSantis is a homeschool advocate and earlier this year made it much easier to apply for grants, scholarships, and credit in FL, I’m very pleased.
Amazing video!! I’m a preschool teacher that works outside the home and a mom that homeschools.. and this video.. in fact this whole channel is the answer to my prayers.. such a resource. Thank you so much💕
As a teacher and mom, I love CKLA curriculum as well. My kindergarteners left reading and well prepared for first grade. I will have to check out the Math.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It really helps hearing what you've learned and adivce for us starting out! Ive tried and use a few different ciriculums and never used this one. Plus with a toddler and a preteen your tips have really helped push things along in a more fluid way. Im still learning everyday and I can't describe how much i appriciate these videos. 🙏
Thank you for saying that, "1 on 1". This is the secret to making almost any child succeed. It kills me, as a black father coparenting with my ex wife how this a concept mosy black parents simply don't do.
Stumbled upon your channel while looking for best reading apps for myself - and also for my 7 (soon to be 8 year old), with whom we are working on reading. It took less than a minute to subscribe. This is amazing content that is very valuable to parents! Appreciate you!
I'm incorporating some of the LA, Science, and some of the History and Geography from this program this year. I am also skipping around the grade levels to tailor what my kids will be learning about. Even though I have their core curriculum already, I will be using some of the domains as a unit study. You have covered this curriculum well! There's not much mentioned of this on RU-vid. Thank you!
I used core knowledge for my eight grader last year. I loved it. The only down side is printing all of the free curriculum….it can get a bit pricey. But there ELA (African-American)for 8th grade was so good I just went and purchased the book on Amazon and read it for myself.
I love this! We are trying to use what we got / do free resources this year and core knowledge worked perfectly with my plan for many subjects! I’m also using Evan Moore’s Daily worksheets for independent work for my 3 kiddos.
I have used this curriculum with my kids since pre-k. My oldest is in 8th grade and it is awesome. I download the books and add them to my kids kindle. We do some of the worksheets and do narrations and test. Because it is made for a classroom setting we don't do all of the worksheets. We mostly use the books and do a few projects. I haven't used their math as they didn't have it when we started. They recommended Singapore Math so we have used that.
Thank for you for being so detailed with this. This has truly been the content review I have been looking for! Right on time and much needed for my family!🎉😊
Thank you Akeeba I do have all of my main curriculum I think for this year but I can certainly see me incorporating some of the science and history from this what a wonderful resource to have. Also thank you for all your very helpful informative videos like this for those of us without teaching backgrounds your really appreciated.
So grateful for this info. I am new to this. I have twin girls (my biological grand daughters (8) by way of adoption) They are full of anxiety in public schooling, completely stressed out. Time to transition to homeschooling as i transition to early retirement ❤
Good Morning Akeeba, I am a homeschool mom. My five year old daughter is using From Phonics to Reading by Sadlier and she is about to complete Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons by Siegfried Engelmann (thank you for both suggestions). I was wondering where should we journey next in developing her ability to read and comprehend literature independently? Should we use Bob Books, Core Knowledge, an internet source, a combination? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
I just watched another of her videos where she mentions Evan-Moor read and understand with leveled texts. The video was titled something like "how to make homeschooling easier" I'll check then edit this comment... Edit: affordable ways to make homeschooling easier
New sub here. I’ve been curious about common core curriculum. Thanks for sharing this thorough review. I also have a channel and right now it’s mainly about homeschooling. It would be fun to be friends and connect here 😊 looking forward to watching more of your content!
This is so perfect! Reading Wind in the Willows with my kiddo and would absolutely love a literature guide to go with it. Thank you!! Such a great resource.
Hi Akeeba, You were explaining why your lessons would take longer. You would read the Why Classis tales; The wind in the willows important. Can you explain you would you typically talk about the author ?
What has been one of your favorite history curriculums that incorporates black history throughout? One that's not super biased one way or another. I would really like to find a balanced curriculum but as far as I can find it doesn't exist.
Hi Everybody my children are in school and I want to pull them out of there what kind of schedule do you guys have idk how to start Im open for any tips I have a 7 and 8 year old.
I have a 5 and 6 yr old. They both read well and know all the phonic rules for reading. Do you think I could just use the 1st grade level for both kiddos (listening and learning strand LA) I want to mainly use that strand for the subjects the units cover. Hope that makes sense. I plan on having them use the “right” grade level for the skills strand.
I'm no homeschooler but i did homeschool during the pandemic and went to my State's government website for homeschooling requirements. I feel like i heard it from one Akeeba's older videos actually. My state required an accredited end of grade test and gave a list of acceptable choices.
Any suggestions on homeschooling for High school students?? My son will be entering 9th grade. We are struggling to find any high school material that is good and affordable.
I live in the UK can I use this as well ? My daughter is 4 , she already reads fluently & such . But she’s goan be 5 early next year so I’m trying to get her in a program . Thank you so much h in advance .
That being said, Since it is a US curriculum, it's more slanted towards US history and teaches US spelling, so you may have to add in more UK history and make changes to some of the spelling lessons.
Is this common-core aligned? Common core is horrible, and many states have already dropped it! It's dumbing down the children with its teaching methods for Math, Reading, etc. Homeschooling is the way to go! 🙂
this is great, Akeeba! Thank you for sharing these resources. I am not homeschooling my children, they attend public school, but i am creating lessons to help them at home. I'm one of those parents who are actively involved with my children and their education. This is so helpful! I am very grateful fir you teachers!!! 🤎 - Tasha
