Hi. I'm Botstowo. I live in Fort Leonard Wood. I really like gas masks, chemical warfare, and everything CBRN related. I also consider myself a gas mask connoisseur. Here you'll find a bunch of fun facts about stuff I like. Hope you enjoy! Fun fact: World war 2 was an interesting time in gas mask history. They were experimenting with strange designs (see the Navy Diaphragm Optical Mk.I, the Navy Diaphragm Mk.s II to IV, the M5 Assault Mask, or the M8 Snout Mask) and synthetic rubbers like polystyrene and neoprene. The US Government’s endeavor into developing synthetic rubber gas masks was caused by the Japanese holding a large portion of the world’s rubber. Fun fact: During 2018, a former Russian spy, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter, Yulia, were found poisoned in Salisbury in the UK, in what was called an assassination attempt by Russia. It is believed that they were poisoned using a chemical weapon with a debatable existance called Novichok. The only evidence I have found for its existance is hearsay and includes the statements of a former test subject (since the gas is supposed to be eight times deadlier than VX gas, he would have died if Novichok was tested on him, so I find his account untrustworthy) and a scientist who claimed to work on Novichok. The Czech government also claims to have produced a small example of Novichok but says they destroyed it immediately after so its existance can be doubted. The Czech sample is reportedly the only one produced outside of Russia. Although I believe that the gas exists, I also see that it is easily doubted. Returning to the topic this fun fact opened with, Sergei and Yulia Skripal both survived the attack. This leads me to believe that Novichok was not used against them as the British Government claims, but, instead, a poorly-sythesized batch of VX. Since VX is immensily lethal, killing anyone who gets even small amounts on their skin, and Novichok is supposed to be much more lethal, I find it unlikely that they would survive and attack with such a weapon. As I mentioned earlier, it is much more likely that they were exposed to poorly-synthesized VX or Sarin gas as seen in the 1995 Aum Shinrikyo Tokyo subway attack, which used poorly-synthesized Sarin. For this reason, I find it less likely that the Russians are the perpetrators as is commonly claimed as, with their funding, the Russian government would not create a faulty batch of nerve agent. The Russian government denies involvement. Fun fact: The video game Escape From Tarkov has the Soviet ShM-62 (or possibly ShM-62u) gas mask in the game. This mask, more commonly referred to as the GP-5 (When describing the mask itself, the use of this term is erroneous as GP-5 is the model of the entire kit. The proper names for the facepieces in the kit are the aforementioned ShM-62 and ShM-62u) is the most produced gas mask in history with over two-hundred-million produced. While meant for civilians, some countries, Estonia, for example, issue them to their militaries. This could lead to political issues for these countries in the future as the filters issued in the GP-5 kit (the filters are designated GP-5 as well), contain asbestos. Soldiers using these masks may develop diseases related to the inhalation of asbestos.

I remember the one time I spawned with a labs keycard as a Scav, it was great I was playing with a buddy on Reserve. (I'm still pretty new to the game so I don't know all the ins and outs yet) My friend was on the middle floor that you need to go through the hole to get through, and so I jump into the hole... Turns out it's the wrong hole and I break both my legs. I'm now in the garage and I find a dead body, I got nothing better to do so I might as well loot it, I shit you not the body has a fucking marked room key on it. So now I have a labs keycard, a marked room key and 2 broken legs and I have to hobble my way out and pray for the best with my friend escorting me. He drops me an Ifak, I take some morphine and we somehow manage to not get gunned down and I make it out with both of em.

The nonsensical style of the video had me forgetting the actual point to this journey while providing the best build up to the fabled "labs." 4.5/5 Uber driver, I docced .5 points because he played Tarkov instead of driving.

Lowkey funniest part is when Sam opens the door and says ladies first and then a second later panicks and sprints through the door...first.

Coming back to this video the day they release the new edition for $250 is great. Wonder what this video would look like today
