Sleep paralysis is a crazy thing, it tends to happen for me when on the brink of trying to sleep, like you're still alert and aware, but the body isn't and in full shutdown/sleep mode, once the body actually does go into a sleep state your mind still stays awake, thus causing you to be aware of your surroundings but every ounce of your muscles and movement is in standstill mode, at some points you can and will hear noises that aren't actually happening, thinking your dog is barking or your cat is right next to you, or someone (whoever is living with you or alone) will be in your room or somewhere outside your room. You'll think there is actually things happening around you in the house somewhere or near you, all while you can't move, and sometimes you'll feel like you actually are moving, that you made it to another room or made it to the floor at least to pick yourself up but it's such a struggle because every part of your body can't move, but yet your mind makes you think you are and actually are doing something and making progress, while seeing some things and as a whole scenario plays out, just to realize you'll still in your bed and none of what actually happened really ever happened to begin with To wake up from it I try to jolt the body or move my arms, but you aren't able too, but it feels like you can, if you can time it right and wait for a moment to wake yourself up, whether it's from jolting, taking deep breaths or getting that sense of movements back in your arms and body, you eventually can and your mind just knows you can do it, it'll take numerous tries but you'll be able too eventually. Sometimes when succeeding and you are awake it'll happen again back to back shortly after trying to sleep a few minutes after waking up from it Rarely it'll feel like you actually did wake up and you are fully awake and getting up and doing your normal things just to find out that it never happened and still in sleep paralysis (I guess from how eager the mind was to wake up from it that it played out a whole scenario of acting as if it actually did), eventually though we'll be able to sleep, the cause of this for myself I found out mostly was from staying up too late multiple times in a row with very sporadic sleep schedules and waking up schedules that probably confused the routine of your body and mind was normally used too sleeping, that at times when it would normally be awake is when it's suddenly switch to sleep time because of the sudden difference in sleep pattern, thus causing the mind to wanting to be awake when the body isn't feeling awake at times when normally would be. It's confusing, but I haven't had sleep paralysis for a while now (maybe ever since a year ago or so.)

I still get sleep paralysis from time to time. When it happened super often that usually when I pulled an all-nighter and tries to sleep when the sun is out, mine always happens on the brink of sleeping like yours. I never seen any strange things in my whole life when in sleep paralysis, not even weird sounds. I know my eyes were proper open cause I saw my walls have lights reflecting on it when my neighbour drives off his driveway, so my senses is all right. It's just that the biggest scare factor is the low breathing that my body does in that state, that fear of suffocating is what really made me always try to wake up ASAP. Also my body always felt really weak and powerless when I woke up from it.
@noctis6826
@noctis6826 19 часов назад
@@karkovb1522 Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the breathing too, just like yours, it really does feel suffocating and the after effects of waking up from it that you've experienced is the same too, especially if sleep paralysis happens when your head is too tucked into a pillow or blanket, so the head has to stay in that position feeling like it's blocking up the airway even more, and because of the low breathing it's hard to just accept the paralysis and trying to sleep it off during that state because it feels so suffocating that you'd rather try to wake yourself up from it instead.

Your comment perfectly describes my experience. I had sleep paralysis while i was home alone, as my family had gone on a trip and i stayed behind for work. My dad usually knocks on my door at 5am to get ready, but this time was different. I heard a very loud knock and my dad shouting my name, but i couldn't move, my eyes were wide open, but my body wouldn’t respond, not even my head. It's quite a bizarre experience cause your mind can't even comprehend the situation because of the noise and you can't react to it. Unfortunately, I’ve never experienced sleep paralysis where I could see someone or a figure, i know its scary but i want to have an interesting experience with it.

I've had sleep paralysis twice in my life. The first time I had just woken from a nightmare and when I realized I couldn't move, I saw a lady with no eyes and a very wide smile laying next to me. She laughed and I quickly shut my eyes and waited for her to leave, and it felt like it took forever to go back to normal. I refused to sleep the rest of that night. The second time, more recent, was after another nightmare, it was storming outside and I saw a silhouette of a person in front of the window. They didn't move, but I could hear them breathing, and another person breathing by my ear. Again I closed my eyes and waited for it to stop.

It happened to me twice as well. The first time it happened I saw like two hooded dark figures on top of the ceiling looking at me and I was feeling uneasy the whole time, later I heard some rustle of paper and baby crying, after that I tried my best to move my fingers and it finally stopped and I woke up, I was genuinely scared to go back to sleep as well. I don't really remember the second time but it was some weird looking woman in front of me watching me or something, and I right away told to myself "oh, heck no!" and I did my best to move my legs and it went away. Sleep paralysis is terrifying, ngl.

So if she recognizes that it is sleep paralysis when it is happening, she could try just closing her eyes and ignoring everything, and just relaxing. That's what I do when I realize what it is. Every time I've done that, I've just gone back to sleep and immediately fell into a lucid dream. At this point, I get happy when I get sleep paralysis because I know how to turn it into a lucid dream, which is the best.

A majority of sleep paralysis cases happen when you fall asleep on your back. If you are known to sleep with your eyes open, it's even worse.The dream plays out around your room and you are unable to interact with anything. Of the few times it's happened to me, I was lucid enough to *try* to wake up, but it was impossible. At one point, I somehow managed to "get up" and run to my dad's office to ask him to help me wake up, only to suddenly find myself back in bed paralyzed. This repeated over and over half a dozen times like some sort of Russian Doll/Groundhog's Day scenario. Yeah... I never sleep on my back anymore.

Being on your Back, could make you imagine someone is staring at you, and make you more anxious. From my experience Sleep paralysis happens when you are overly anxious/stress when trying to sleep. Also being cold worsens it. (I'm not a specialist or anything, but i personaly learned those things myself) Things that might help you guys avoid Nightmares or Sleep Paralysis (works for me): - Most importantly find a way to be relaxed when you fall asleep, what helps you relax depends on a person. - If you bed is too close to a wall, don't have your face too close to it when you sleep. - When you're covered in your bed, keep your arms, and neck in your blanket. Mostly to avoid any kind of chill from the cold (when it's too hot, it can lead to nightmares too). - Don't watch Scary/Wierd things before sleep, if you're get terrified later when you sleep. Instead watch something you like before going to bed. - DON'T Have wierd furnitures (ex: Coat Rack) /plushies in your Room, that can make you think there is someone else in your room.

I've had sleep paralysis for years now, but the worst one I've ever had was seeing a pitch black mass standing in the doorway of my room and not being able close my eyes and snap out of it. There was an overwhelming feeling of panic and dread and utter fear as I watched it slowly start to get closer towards me all while there was a voice yelling in my head to wake up and that if I didn't, I was going to die. The entire time all of that was happening, there was an excruciating pain in the left side of my stomach that almost felt like I was being stabbed (just about every time I have sleep paralysis that pain is there just nowhere near as bad as it was that night) and I could hear just this awful laughter that seemed to be emanating from it although it didn't have any features at all, it was literally just a black mass. It was almost like it was taunting me at that point. When I finally managed to snap out of it, I turned on my light and didn't dare to fall back asleep. At that point, I'd been experiencing it for several years and had seen tons of those masses during it so it wasn't anything new to me when I saw it, but I have never in my life experienced that amount of panic and fear until that night nor had I experienced my subconscious telling me I was going to die if I didn't wake up.

I've had sleep paralysis a couple of times it was terrifying at first but then you get used to it, it's basically being in a state between being awake and being asleep, unfortunately your body is in sleep mode and the part of your brain that's most active is the part that has all your fears from what I understand at least. So you can't move at all, can't talk but you can see and hear everything it's so awful at first and it feels like it lasts forever but when you wake up you'll notice barely any time has passed

I’ve had sleep paralysis a lot, but the timing was insane because it was when i was really in the depths of depression and suicidal intentions. it was almost exactly like the game you played. i had sleep paralysis everyday for 2 months straight. the first time, i literally thought i was going to die or i was having an encounter with death itself. the only differences i can tell you between the game and the real experience is that instead of looking for the demon/shadow, you can almost feel it. and like how you mentioned “does thinking about it speak it to life?” yes, in fact it did it for me. every time i was scared or paranoid about it, I’d always have sleep paralysis. it got to a point where i knew when i was going to have it on most nights. it has such a strong energy and you can almost feel exactly where it’s at. i remember i always had these tingles and vibrations on my neck and the closer the shadow got, the more intense and loud the vibrations came along. and also, when you enter sleep paralysis, your surroundings turn into nightmares. for example, i had clothes on my chair and my floor. the ones on my chair turned into a tall figure sitting down and staring at me, and then the clothes on my floor turned into dead bodies. Sleep paralysis is one of the scariest experiences of my life. later down the line i found out that my situation was spiritual and i was actually having an encounter with a demon.

The brain does the thing you don't want it to do. Don't try to make him stop it, or he'll do worse, just somehow try to accept what is there, slowly relax and ignore it. Possible Reasons it might have happened to you so often: - You didn't sleep fully under blanket (up to the neck, avoid any cold chills at night) when going to sleep. - You were Anxious/Stressed/Scared before going to sleep. And now after that experience you continuously felt scared so it kept coming back. (Try to be relaxed somehow) - Your face was too close to the wall when sleeping - Scary looking furniture at night (in dark, you imagined it to be a person's silhouette. - You sleep on your back (makes it easier to imagine someone staring at you, when already Anxious/Stress/Scared.)

I had my first sleep paralysis experience when I was 14 (?). And since then, I’ve figured out that it only happens when I sleep rlly late for a few days straight. Basically, I feel short on breath and that wakes me up. I can tell I’m on my paralysis is when I can’t see clearly, there’s some sort of black cloth covered over my head (like what widows wear in movies with funeral scenes). Then there’s this painful and loud white noise (almost like muffled screaming) blasting close to my ears, almost as if it wants to pop both my eardrums. The first thing I do is try to move my fingers and arms, which takes out so much energy in me that when I stop to take a break I’m much shorter on air and my vision gets darker, like I’m being sucked away. When I gather enough energy again, I try again and I usually manage to break out after two or three times. It’s not scary atp, it’s just annoying. Because once I break out, my body shuts down for a second and I have to fight against it to stop it from happening before a second paralysis starts. Like I said, annoying as hell.

My sleep paralysis is a bit of a weird one, my 1st experiences i saw a strange Half bird half human type creature, it's wings are it's arms, and has big red eyes resembling a plague doctor. It's pretty odd really. My second experience i saw a invertebrate that resembles a type of arachnid like a spider almost, it absorbs into my body, making me to be dead asleep, but aware that someone is gonna wake me up, pretty strange right.

I have had a lot of instances of sleep paralysis in my life. It is me laying in bed, feeling a certain crisp texture of a blanket that I do not have. Something either pulling the blanket off of me, pressing down on my my chest, or slowly pulling me out of bed being unable to resist. Its the same blanket feeling every time and its a blanket type I will forever avoid, because its my only tell that its sleep paralysis and not something sinister attacking me.

Usually when I get sleep paralysis (I think it is at least) I don't usually have my eyes open. Most of the time it kind of feels like something building up, like impending doom. and usually in whatever dream I'm in I recognize that feeling then become aware I'm dreaming. My body just has this panic and urge to wake up and move. Another big part of the dreams is it usually ends up as something really disturbing, (Almost like a jumpscare actually), and when the peak comes I'm usually panicking trying to move and wake up but I can't. I would try to scream but I can't, and all I feel throughout my body is pure terror. Thankfully I rarely get them now, but even so I'm pretty used to it and can kind of sit in it, and only one one occasion I was actually able to become lucid without the feeling of impending doom. Weird how the brain can be

That's me every night. 😢 😴 Thank you, Ryan 😊❤

I have sleep paralysis a lot almost once a week, but this year had been less frequent. However, just last night I had a very busy day and got to bed when I was really tired, the moment my head hit the pillow it began. So to prevent seeing things, I'd cover my eyes with pillows or just cover myself with the blankets and if it started getting too much to handle I'd just wriggle my finger and toes and try to move my hand, and since going back to bed after it seems to make me go back to it I would change position and sleep on my sides. And please don't be panicked if you woke up to being paralysed, control your breathing and wriggle your fingers and toes as much as you can, and then start moving your hands or legs. After that change your sleeping position to the sides. That's all. Great video as usual Ryan😊

Just sleep with a blindfold. That way you don’t have to experience the horrors. You’ll also likely go back to sleep again because of the darkness. I’ve only ever had one recurring dream and I’ve only had it twice. It’s where my little brother is getting bullied by other kids and eventually it comes to the point where I try to fight them, but what happens is I’ll start throwing fast punches that sort of hit an invisible wall before reaching the person. It’s sort of like they have Gojo’s infinity. And after that, I wake up. My dad said he has a similar recurring dream, but in his dream he will be beating the crap out of his opponent but they take no damage and stand back up.
@Camazotz-kz9wr
@Camazotz-kz9wr День назад
Blindfold doesnt work, since visual hallucinations are actually one of the more rare symptoms, despite being the most well known. Audio hallucinations are far more common (I almost always here someone trying to break into my house or room for example), and the sensation of not being able to breath, pressure on the chest, unable to move... are the worst parts of it. Which a blindfold will not help. Some people also do just get a sense of impending doom, even if they know its just sleep paralysis and they'll be fine.

I've actually had sleep paralysis 2 times in my life so far when I was 13, I can 100% confirm this is exactly what it's like. Anxiety slowly sets in as you realize you are helpless and can not move anything except your eyes. Every little thing you see seems like it is moving and slowly creeping up on you, and all you can do is lay there and cry as you slowly accept your fate. (Edit: it is even worse if you have had a nightmare prior to waking up.)

I've only had sleep paralysis twice. The first time i actually didn't have any "demons" or shadows or anything. But I was actually having something called sleep apnea (which is when your brain doesn't automate your breathing during your sleep like it normally should and so you stop breathing while you sleep and then your brain wakes you up and is like hey breathe dummy), This particular night I fell asleep woke up could not move and could not breathe because my brain hadn't fully registered that I was technically awake so it still hadn't kick started the process that normally happens when you wake up after having sleep apnea where you start breathing again. So there I was not able to move or breathe freaking out screaming in my head as loud as I could trying anything I could do to wake up, then finally my brain kind of got the idea that I was not breathing enough like even though it had tried to wake me up already and then I actually woke up and started gasping for air, so that was scary. The second time I had sleep paralysis was like I just fallen asleep and I was still kind of awake in a sense and then I fell all the way asleep, woke up to sleep paralysis and that time I did see a "sleep paralysis demon". The ever elusive hat man (thats the best way to describe him tbh) was standing in my doorway watching me sleep and it was so unsettling that I slept like as little as possible the next few days that particular month...and since then I haven't had it.

As well as trying to move. It felt like my spine was stuck to my bed, and seeing shadowy figures didn’t exactly help much either, especially with how paranoid I was as a kid.

I have experienced sleep paralysis multiple times and when it happens, I usually just lay there and I can't talk or move. I have never experienced anyone walking or crawling on my bed, but it's hella scary. The thing is that the more you fight it the worse it gets. It's actually better to not fight it anyway. Usually when I have experienced this, it happens again and again and again right after each other. I remember when I was listening to music. It was summer and my family and I were visiting my grandparents in our summer hut. I started to feel really tired and I just drifted of. Then I "woke" up and I couldn't move, speak or hear anything. Another weird thing is that when I had my eyes closed they were open and when I had them open they were closed. The worst part about sleep paralysis is how long it takes for you to wake up. It feels like a decade until you finally wake up. It gets even scarier when it happens right after each other which is what i'm explaining right now. So after what felt like a decade, I finally woke up and my playlist was starting over again. Now this might not say much at first and at the time my playlist was like an hour long or something. I was pretty much half way through when I dozed of and I was back at pretty much the same spot when I woke up. This might be hard to believe but it's true. Then I couldn't even react when I woke up and felt into another sleep paralysis experience and it happen 3 times in total. A tip I know to have this happen less frequently is to sleep on your side. Alot of people experience sleep paralysis when they sleep on their back like me. Another thing is that taking naps at day time is refreshing but it also boosts the chances of sleeparalysis. Also stay active and use some energy before going to sleep as this also helps. Now keep in mind that sleep paralysis is nothing to worry about and it's simply just your brain waiking up before your body

It lasted for hours and it was genuinely the best hours I've had in years. I was bewildered when I was told it was sleep paralysis.

I think one of the worst parts of sleep paralysis for me is the paranoia. I get it really often, sometimes multiple times per week, and it genuinely made me dread nighttime. There's this building sense of panic as it gets later and later into the night, knowing at some point I have to go to sleep. I developed insomnia a few years ago as well, so like 80% of the time I'm either unable to sleep or having sleep paralysis. Scary stuff.

Another one was when I couldn’t move, couldn’t speak but I can hear someone talking(I was alone the entire time and in camp) and I can feel like that someone was walking up to my bed and was trying to see if I’m awake. The experience from this game is similar but for me, the monster/demon would stand walk up to my bed and stand next to it and watch me until I woke up eventually. It would last about 2-4 minutes. What helped me was my breathing and just keeping my eyes closed, then eventually I would try move a limb one by one then wake up.
