Being a game warden is a very dangerous job. You are all by yourself most of the time, most people you encounter out in the woods are more than likely armed. Help is far away.
He should feel bad. Considering how Joe Rogan pushes marijuana use. He is responsible for creating a demand that these illegal growers are helping to supply.
@youtube primer yeah I agree, I buy my fishing license every year, I'm not against regulation and maintaining our environment, but the larping forest tracker guy is clearly just over-dramatizing his entire shtick in order to juice his book sales. He's the boot licking guy even law-abiding hunter despise
@@JohnDoe-up2qp they weren't hunting, they were growing pot fields illegally on state land. zero weapons training, probably didnt even speak english. they probably didn't even work for a cartel, just some rich local multi-millionaire who figured he could make a quick couple six figures and pay a few illegals under the table.
Hey! I met that guy in the early 80s in San Jose! Just talked to him, he was the only person I'd met who was going to college to be a warden. I had no idea that was a college thing. Nice guy for the hour or so I was talking to him. Good for him!
Not all states but most require a bachelors or higher. Makes sense but the jobs don't pay well which kind of sucks especially for how important it is. No wonder they have manpower issues.
Went to college to become a park ranger as well. Cops need to require degrees in criminal justice. Best LEOs I’ve ever known. Park and game warden. By a long shot. Survivalist, naturalist… etc
@@chuch541 Rangers do important work. Cops should have four year degree. It delays them getting in, and trained, until some maturity starts kicking in. Young cops are often problems
@@porcus123 what would the cartel be doing snatching up children and old people and only sometimes dragging them back to their original location, more often than not with no clothes? And nobody ever remembers it? I find it unlikely
"The woods are my church"... I have said the EXACT same thing for years! Are you single Mr. Game Warden sir? I bet my creek wouldn't be dry if you were around.... hehehe
I live in western KY and have spent my whole life in the outdoors hunting and fishing. Outdoor activities is a big big part of life here. I always thought that being a game warden would be an awesome career path as I would have got to do what I love in being in the outdoors all the time while helping to protect the animals and fish that I’d always loved to pursue throughout my life. Plus, most people don’t know it but game wardens are not only enforcing the rules and laws regarding hunting and fishing, but at the same time they are also authorized to enforce basically any other “normal” laws that doesn’t involve wildlife. They can do all the things normal cops can do plus being trained in enforcing all of the fish and wildlife laws. So if a game warden sees you speeding, he can pull you over if he wanted to and write a ticket lol. Would be such a cool job to have in my opinion.
Not sure about KY but a lot of states require a bachelors degree or higher to become a game warden which kind of sucks when you look at your pay, its very low considering needing a college degree. Im right there with you though, since I was a kid ive wanted to become a game warden. Being out in nature and getting payed for it, hell yes sign me up! My job pays more now doing machining work but man the shop life sucks. Really wish I took the 76k for auto machining school and just got a degree in environmental science.
I didn't notice anything until all the people in the comments mentioned it. Even now, going back and listening, it's really not that noticeable or a big deal.
6:03 and this is why I have a hard time trusting black market weed, and why imho getting this shit legalized and regulated at a federal level isn't just a freedom issue and a criminal justice issue but also a major medical and environmental issue as well
The government regulating it seems like a bad fucking idea. What do they not fuck up when they get their greedy paws into it? How about just completely deregulate/decriminalize it.
@pimp duck I should have clarified: *Federal* Gvmt. But also why would you argue for the same guys who banned it for a century to be the ones to regulate it? Again, I think just decriminalization/deregulation is the best answer. So I can grow my own in my closet, etc.
I love animals, fitness, history and psychology. My parents pressured me to get a specialized degree I did not want. I spent 15 years in related corporate hell jobs. One of my biggest regrets is not telling them to .... off and going for something that would let me be a forest ranger or warden or assistant physical therapist pretty much anything except what I went to school for.

Joe has been slipping lately. Anytime I see him interview a former member of the CIA, Police, Military, ect he just...I guess it's what happens when you get Wealthy. You no longer care about the issues you cared about when you were just a regular dude. Sad to see, it's why I unsubbed from him right after he interviewed a former CIA guy and didn't try to ask him about almost anything relevant. I'm guessing these guys give Joe a Long list or things he's not allowed to ask and he complies.
"The episode where Joe and his guest are both vegan DJs who do crossfit, and they have a special relationship with the woods " you wouldn't understand"
Everyone trying to give this guy some water but he's talking and saliva beat boxing at the same time, if you listen closely you can hear bohemian rhapsody 👁️👃👁️👂
I have a friend who is a biologist who does a lot of contract work for the state and I've been lucky enough to go on some jobs with him when they need some extra help. The work they do is really cool and it's given me an opportunity to do a lot of interesting stuff that I wouldn't have been able to do other wise and learn a lot about conservation and wild life.
@@jeancarlodelaluz6415 I'll describe one of the jobs I did more than a few times. I live near the St. Lawrence River and the Eisenhower Dam on the river and there's a giant "Eel Ladder" that's built into the Dam to allow Eels to do their migration/breeding that they do once in their lifetime. Each week we'd have to go out in a boat and scoop up dead Eel and Fish and catalog their size, how the seemed to have died, the damage and stuff to try and get statistics on the amount of Eels that go through the ladder. It may not sound too fun but it's good to be out on the water on a nice day. The smells can get a bit bad for a minute but it's something that doesn't really bother me.
I tagged along with a very seasoned warden just out of HS! My GF DAD! We ran into some regular fisherman along with some guys running in g multiple poles! This was during a Salmon run. And then we got a call about a cougar someone was keeping in the woods in a giant chain link dog kennel! Sure as shit! Giant cougar! Trapped in a kennel! Pacing back n fourth like a methed out jail bird! The investigation was brief! We followed your common orange extension cord(s) daisy chained a good 1/4 mile to this guys house! Literally in the middle of a residential neighborhood in anacortes wa!
In Northern California we all know game wardens are ones you don’t mess with. They have jurisdiction over everything. I fish multiple days a week and run into them all the time and have never had a bad experience
I came across a grow in the mountains in Washington State when I was hunting. The growers might not even be there willingly but may have their families held hostage in Mexico and if they don't provide the cartel a crop their families are dead. They have Nothing to lose. The grow I stumbled on was raided and had 3000 plants.
It took our government "weeks" to assemble the teams needed to stop the cartel growers while they destroyed a river system. In a state with hundreds of SWAT and thousands of military. Then they didn't remediate. Isn't our government efficient! Let's make it bigger!
forlorn hope: So what if it’s moral, they come in illegally and are criminals messing up our National Forests. Not to mention killing our people with the drugs they are bringing in and selling.
Its crazy how you can type that but not do it what you need permission to do that just do it dont worry bout the consequences you did the right thing 😂🤣😂
There are so many grows I have come across in the Los Padres National Forest. If there’s a creek with no trail...there’s a grow on it. They consider the trash toxic waste and falls under a different department.
Even as the civilian with him, why would you go into the woods unarmed anyway? Or anywhere for that matter? Its a matter of principle, a man should be armed.
I think it clearly shows that federal law should decriminalize marijuana across the board. Take the profit motive away and the cartels and organizations involved will give it up. Also there are Cartel members born and bred in the US, as well as mobsters and gangsters white and Latino.

I'm not too interested in politics but realistically this Creek was much much smaller than the border between Mexico and u.s. It is also two completely different things. As an analogy that's like me painting a model car for 5$ and then you comparing that cost to how much it would be to replace an engine in a Chevy. Just as that analogy's only similarity is cars and one is much smaller, the only real similarities between this story and the border wall is a river and cartels. This story of which had a smaller river and cartel.
@@tyleroldham4676 I don't think you get the point... The border wall would be a fraction of a percent of the US budget and if it can prevent or make infinitely harder idiots causing this kind of damage (among all other problems) I think its worth it. At this point the only people opposed to the wall are politicians looking to cash in on the illegal vote (look up voter ID laws and laugh at how anyone can deny that illegals vote) and the sheep that are convinced that enforcing laws, keeping citizens safe and keeping land and government services as operational as possible is somehow a humanitarian issue.
@@tylerh629 yep, and corrupt congressmen like Moscow Mitch are stopping bills that would protect US elections from foreign government interference. It's not one side either, it's both.
So, do you think that the growers should just be left alone to grow? Children shouldn't be educated about drugs and values? We should just let nature reserves be destroyed?
The war on drugs is fake because they ship in the drugs it’s a war on dealers who don’t pay the tax they went to Afghanistan for heroin and now there is an opioid epidemic which is sympathetic heroin
And they are in the middle of the woods typically with no backup. honestly though comparing an R&R beautiful natural habitat to the streets is pretty off
These guys are typical cop wannabe assholes who were never hired by a police department. They look for weed gardens and harass fisherman, police don't even like these dudes
@Hooligan Boogaloo Yeah I don't think he was really in a shootout at all. According to him this "cartel" was armed with fully automatic AK 47s, but only fired a single "warning shot" during this gun battle? Sounds like bullshit to me
This is why we need more legal restrictions on game wardens. When citizens partake in hunting , fishing, boating, ect. We are relieved of some of our constitutional rights. For some reason that seems to be ok. As long as they are protecting our natural resources. But game wardens are doing more that protecting natural resources. As you can see he talked about, they are main line law enforcement. It's my opinion that if they are main line law enforcement then, I should be able to exercise all my constitutional rights. Especially the big one they abused all the time Fourth Amendment protections against illegal search and seizure.
@@mikefarina9743 He got caught poaching and ran face first into the seizure authority a Game Warden has when enforcing wildlife laws in some states, and got his gun and truck confiscated. My state actually changed it to require a felony and a police officer or sheriff physically present to protect the owners rights, but it doesn't mean you won't lose your truck for spotlighting anymore. You still definitely will.
Jacob Stammer My buddy is a warden and has fished 3 body’s and a foot out of the same lake this year. Also had a 5 year old child die while he was giving him CPR. And that’s just a taste of what he’s dealt with in the past 4 months. It’s a gnarly job
Cleaning up the mess does not make money, it only costs money, that’s why the other law-enforcement agencies did not want to deal with it. They are only interested in making money, at all costs.
I remember that a Game Warden was killed by Drug Growers who mistakenly believed he was another Warden who they thought was going to find their grow operations. It is not safe out there.
You are braver than most then. More than a few people tapped out already because of the freaky noises his mouth was making at the beginning of this video.
It would be political suicide for any Dem or Repub to be involved with cartels but i wouldnt be surprised if cartels were threatening them and forcing a couple
Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris and Beto are buddy buddy with Ñieto ( x-mex president) who is now on the run in Italy from Chapos gunmen for defaulting on a 100 million $ buyoff to help keep Chapo outta prison after his presidency.
Well...maybe. Trouble is, once the weed crop is harvested, it's distributed to the next step in the chain, the bulk dealers. And the price goes up exponentially. So instead of just targeting the 'little guys', the SF also needs to target the 'bigger fish' dealers.
