@@TreyDaze I dunno what your plans for the upcoming week are, but in case you are interested in board games: There is the Essen SPIEL the biggest board game fare in the world next week (thursday to sunday). It's an event I am looking forward the whole year and publishers/fans from around the globe are coming there ... Really a great event in Germany :)

If you are interested in this historic stuff, I recommend a "Museumsdorf", an area, where old houses are rebuild (mostly real old buildings) and set up like a small village. Some of these villages have features like an old grain mill and a baking oven, and once a week they show how it was 150 years ago. In Illertissen they have planted an alley with ancient sorts of apples.

I Love the Baumstrietzel with Krokant/Brille Probably the Konzertorgel was made in Waldkirch. This city, also in Baden-Württemberg, is famous for building organs

Great to see you guys have so much fun! If you've enjoyed the Volksfest, be sure to also check out the Mittelalter Märkte (rennaissance fairs) they have tons of unique foods, liquors, beers and met, great games for kids and parents (axe throwing, archery etc) and the atmosphere is amazing! Time for the Schützenfeste has passed by now since their usually in the summer, but those are big fun fairs, kinda like the fairs you probably know from the US, but with a more german look to them, would definitely be a lot of fun for your little one! It's really great to see you enjoy Germany so much, it's easy to overlook all this stuff if your used to it- I appreciate your fresh outlook and open mind. Thank you for taking us with you, and I'm looking forward to see you enjoy some hopefully snowy, wonderful wintery Christmas Markets with some hot Glühwein!

@@TreyDaze @Ginster Great Summary regarding local fairs :). There are a lot of them throughout the country with different kind of vibes, even more specific ones like Beerfests if you are into Craftbeers and stuff like that. Also a freaking ton of music festivals in Germany and neighbor countries as well for all kinds of music where people just have a good time. Other than that i can recommend to keep your eyes open for more unique and local festivals which i bet you can also find a lot in southern parts of Germany (i mostly know the ones more specific to where i live but they really are great, from Fireworks competetions where different countries have unique showings to things like i don't even know how to describe so i'm just gonna link one example that comes to my mind which is called: "Kleines Fest im großen Garten" - i'm just linking some News article with Pictures to get a rough idea about that one. www.ndr.de/kultur/Kleines-Fest-im-Grossen-Garten-Grosse-Kleinkunst-in-Hannover,kleinesfest1072.html Other than that, Ginster provided a great Summary really, be sure to check out the Christmas Markets

@@TreyDaze I highly recommend the Mittelaltermarkt in Esslingen around Christmas time!! Haven't been there for a while since I moved town but loved it as a kid. Also easily reachable from your place with the S-Bahn. Greets from an ex-Stuttgarter✌️

Rothenburg ob der Tauber has THE most picturesque christmas market, it's like Disney since the city (or rather village) hasn't been bombed out during WW2 and most historical buildings are still intact. Also it's like 1 1/2h, max 2h away from Stuttgart if you drive there, so I would highly recommend checking it out! (if you're not convinced, just google some photos- you won't want to miss it!)

I can really recommand the christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin Mitte, and especially the Lucia Christmas market located in the Prenzlauer Berg neighbourhood.. That one has a scandinavian theme and the wonderfully scenic backdrop of a former brewery, now called the Kulturbrauerei. Both are definitely worth a visit! And besides these, Berlin has a total of about 40 different Christmas Markets to chose from!

The model at 6:43 does not show a house or Noahs arc but a tobacco kiln. In the 18th and 19th centuries there were some regions in Württemberg (and Baden and at the Palatinate) were they grew tobacco. The leafs were hung in those kiln to dry before further processing.
@chrisrudolf9839
@chrisrudolf9839 Год назад
There are actually still a few farmers left in the warmest spots in Germany in Baden-Württemberg and Southern Palatinate who grow tobacco, though the majority has given up after the EU agricultural funding was cancelled for tobacco in 2010 (tobacco not being a food product). I guess most of those who still grow tobacco mostly do it out of tradition and as a gimmick for tourists, since due to both the high labor cost in Germany and the less then ideal climate even in those parts of Germany, German tobacco can't compete with tobacco from countries with a warmer climate.

Woah, you have got hair on you head... :D The leg thing might have been about nylons. Back in the days they weren't very affordable. So the ladies used to paint their legs in a darker color so it looked like the were wearing nylons. The vibe of the video is awesome. It's such a nice contrast to the Oktoberfest Videos that started to popping up everywhere. I hope you were able to film in peace this time.

One thing about the polizei. You are not allowed to film an officer on duty, especially not to publish it. But as always it depends a bit on the situation. And what you did at the end of the video wont be an issue, but just wanted to let you know, that its generally not allowed to film officers on duty. Nice video btw ^^
@salia2897
@salia2897 Год назад
That is completely untrue. In general it is allowed to film the police on duty. Privacy laws can apply like for every other person. That becomes an issue if you focus on a person and they are actually the subject of your recording. That does not apply though, if there is some reasonable interest on filming a police officer, e.g. if he is arresting someone and you want to document that. So a police officer on duty is actually less protected from being recorded than off duty. Off duty he is just the same as a regular citizen and his privacy has to be respected. On duty he is representing the state and his actions can be documented if there is some legitimate interest. Police officers might not like it sometimes, but they won't typically be annoyed by someone filming them driving by just out of curiosity. Public video recording is always a bit of a privacy issue in Germany, police officer or not. But in general, it is accepted.
