cynical.../ my opinion is different. she suffers really, when you read her letters, private letters in america that she couldnt be in berlin, in germany.before the beginning of the dictatur of the nazis, she came only one time to berlin,1932.( than first in 1945 again ) AND - please think about that ! - she had great, really great offers of the nazis, to film and work in germany. her story and history would be completly another one, if she had taken those offers. her bread where also buttered in germany. dont forget. AND to make a career in the usa was not clear. the big country has ab big pool of own actrices. i think it was not so easy !

It's easy to reduce something to what it seems the essence of truth a hundred years after the events finished. I mean you talk about her as you are very sure that she was a 100 per cent confident on what her career will look like. She was brave. And from her butter she gave a lot to others too, during those troubled times.
