So I am pretty new to GW2 and I already have a serious alt-aholic issue! So many professions look super fun. After watching this I figured "what is another low level character" and rolled an engi... And I have to say this build in pvp just wrecked everyone! Now I am sure there were a few people that were like me and trying new stuff out, but this build worked so well it made me look like I knew what I was doing lol. Thanks for the guide :D
Great vid! I would also add becareful for reflect(magnetic aura mostly) and condi reapers right now also can transfer condition back to you wich can melt you otherwise positionning your self correctly is where you will excel with the build
I've been playing a variation of this build in pvp for weeks and having a blast. Nearly the same setup but using the elixir gun to keep the mech alive.
@@CaffeinatedDad condi signet, but after this video i tried out dropping the elixir kit and it turns out.. people just don't target the mech that often lol
I think I was in a game playing with you while you were doing this build it's op Edit: yay I'm in the video I'm a happy charr now. It may have been only for a few seconds. But regardless.
It seems that not a lot of players figured out how squishy the Mech is. Once you take out the Mech, the Mechanist is a free kill -- this is why the most effective Mecha build is not to rely solely on the Mech for damage. Also why J-Drive for GM trait? You don't see the value of Jade Dynamo (quickness+CDR+daze)? Also why Thorns Rune? If you want to extend the poison duration, you're better of using Sigil of Venom on your pistol -- then take Undead Rune for an even more tankier Mech (see trait Mech Fighter) plus more condition damage for ALL your conditions. Finally, you don't need Elixir S or the whole Elixir trait line -- take the Grenade kit and the Explosive trait line for better results. You experience down time because you don't have a kit, the Genade kit will enable you to continue to deal condition damage while waiting for CDs -- auto-attacking is a no-no. Taking my advise will eliminate a lot of that Cons, especially relying on the pet AI for damage.
Excellent points! This was the build that was submitted so I played how it was intended. Grenade kit may have worked here hut alchemy line has a lot of defenses for players who may not be comfortable with kit swapping in pvp
@@CamoverRT Adept is a toss up between Grenadier and Glass Cannon, I pick Glass Cannon. Then pick top for Aim-Assisted Rocket and pick mid for Shrapnel for GM. There will be so much explosions that Shrapnel will trigger almost continuously. As for weapons, you can stay as P/Sh so you can add poison to the mix and more defensive options, but I personally like Rifle due to access to anti-CC (rifle 4), CC (rifle 3), and most of all, more explosions.
@@floydmcguirk6721 you can't have enough stun break to counter a whole team stun lock, bro. That doesn't exist in the game. And they don't have to kill you, all they have to do is take out your Mech and you're no longer a threat.
@@EnzoVinZ tell that to the guys I out played 5 bro obviously there is no stun break but even if they take out your mech u are still a threat with right team comp u are viewing through to narrow of a lense and disregarding your kiting abilities when I can hold off a team of 5 for 5-10 minutes as a mechanist in standard skill level matches wether its g3 or below bro means u are a big threat and a distraction to those who chase and don't realize what's going on wich is alot of people
im playing inventions/more bunker/sidenode variation. damage is still very good and it's very hard to 1v1 me. and im eating like 90% enemies. i even won 9 matches in a row this 2v2 season (almost plat).
@@CaffeinatedDad the one that reflects projectiles. I saw it multiple times not working against players with guns, rifle, bows, you name it . Causing me to just go down on the spot
Hi im new player and im probably going for egineer mechansit route does this build still works? and great video very well guided even for new players it was easy to understand
I main Engi and Thief in pvp though I miss my Firebrand supp days... I am a fan of Holosmith but I think I'll give Mech a try. I am at a point where I am struggling to find a main to do content in. All classes seem intresting and boring at the same time if this makes any sense.. Btw does anyone know the song in Build Demonstration?
I've redone the whole story for the Seasons of Dragon achiev as a holosmith and omg I had a blast! My first playthrough, I was playing as a scourge so the damage wasn't nearly as high as with my Engi (and you know I was a big n00b, the first year I legit had no idea how sigils and runes worked so I didn't even bother with them lol)
I tried few and never touched pvp again. Holosmith and Core Necromancer are two builds I tried and had some fun. Perhaps with friends but alone, naah. I have list of excuses why I don't like pvp like unable to see anything beside what is in front of me and getting easily distracted hyper focusing on wrong things and more 😂 but I will probably try this build if I ever go to PvP
True! Pvp does not sit well with a lot of players which is not surprising. It's not for everyone and that's OK! The game is about what you want to enjoy
A build that won’t be any good above maybe gold 2. Mechanist is pretty food for every meta dps/roamer build right now. Though this may be good in WvW with cele gear or some hybrid combination of stats.
So this elite specialization is only available to the end of Dragons expansion. And yes if you boost an character thry give you the full set of celestial exotic gear.
Meh I don‘t feel like it‘s broken, Catalyst or Scrapper were broken. We have yet to see which class will be top tier this season. It‘s a good beginner build for lower elo and the learning curve is quite shallow. Still a good video, keep it up!
What rank are you playing in? Asking because I've witnessed how a lot of people can be clueless in bronze, letting you win with almost any build if you play right. And at one point my fiend said that even though he was in gold a lot of people were still acting quite clueless.
@@CaffeinatedDad Ah. This makes a lot of sense to me. Because in the footage you shown you were absolutely steamrolling people left and right with your build. I've had similar experiences in pvp, but I've also come across people I like to call "Stunlock Mc.screwyou" The moment you don't have stability on you they will chain combo stun you into a wall and pummel you till you turn into a jam like substance. I got a feeling the mechanist build wouldn't fair that well against them. Or a build with super high condi cleanse. I think Heralds were a bit nerfed, but certain builds might be able to wade through all the poison and drink it like it was their favorite soft drink. All of that being said I'm going to try this build for sure, since I tend to stay in high silver ranks. Also the mechanist build I came up with on the fly got steamrolled really hard :P
it's good in lower ranks but it falls off pretty fast. the new condi reaper build will make you very sad 💀💀💀 it's still as good as mecha gets probably tho
yeah, no. i did like 20 matches with this and this is so outclassed by any halfway decent meta build running around right now. mesmers, thieves, warriors and guardians kill the mech within 3-4 seconds, cleanse all the conditions and sometimes don't even bother killing you because once the mech is dead your team is basically fighting 4v5. thieves and mesmers just teleport away from your mech and you're doing nothing but a wee bit of poision and confusion. this might be viable in the lowest of low ranks or unranked but any player that has even a barely decent understanding of pvp will just destroy this.
@@CaffeinatedDad honestly, even that sounds like an ordeal. i was getting destroyed in my placement matches already. i think the spvp community is so small at this point that you will only encounter complete newbies or hardcore veterans. and it's a diceroll how many of which category you and the opponent team get and depending on that this build either completely destroys them or is completely useless. most matches are complete blowouts. maybe i need to rank up more but i'd need to find the time for that. but pvp in general feels very weird atm. i got into lower plat with a handful of games just steamrolling by knowing the most basic mechanics. and still in lower plat i see people who don't understand such things that in a point capture gamemode it's generally good to capture points. so this build being a noobstomper might actually be decent for winrates on average, but i prefer more "stable" builds that are easier to carry with. i'm honestly considering giving up on spvp because up to plat it seems to me there are either very few hardcore players or a majority of people who have no clue what they're doing and got there by grinding. however, it's kinda a good farm atm, got a guild team together last weekend and we lost 1 out of 18 games.
@River.Roberts I don't wanna steer you wrong, I haven't played much pvp as of late. I've hears of hammer untamed being goos, condi berserker, but I don't have that ready to go unfor
Why we need to explain a broken build to already spoiled mech players? I will be so happy when balance came for these players and destroy the illusion they live in. This will be the they for me to mock them while they are trying to cry. Where is the joy in this game, why we cannot play Guild Wars 2 instead of Mech Wars 2? There is so much arrogance and ignorance in the reality where this specialization exists.
I'd imagine so, that it could be good in small fights and skirmishes. If I were to say any gear set I'd probably say a mix of rabid and Vipers. If you need some more defenses I'd run Carrion instead of Vipers but still include rabid
