Cypher's cages are more versitile than jett smokes for me because of maybe the sound cue when someone enters it and u can play it off with possibly any play u want. I think in this clip no one really expected an aggressive Cypher because of the map i guess most cyphers covers their teams backs on Bind but since he's aggressive it catches enemies offguard.

If he's this aggressive on attack, then tripping flank is kind of optional since he has a high chance of dying and losing the flank protection

even as a duelist, hes overly aggressive on angles that dont need to be held, like ct on a site bind. it doesnt need to be peeked, they just need to hold the cross to the bomb

Only because he has one good round (there are propably more, but there were only clips of the same match) you cant say that he deserves a higher rank or not. His issue is propably, that he is inconsistent. Most time its the problem for not upranking.

as a cypher main, i can explain why he is rplaying like a duelist as cypher. The reason is because maybe the duelists on his team never entries and rush so thats why he became a duelist

Im an ascendant player and i could also show my best clips ever and say that i deserve radiant. Just because i hit some nice shots means nothing, the full game play does.

The silverstuck enemies that deserve ascendant in my enemy team: The Peak Gold III carried phoenix in my team that ends with 5/20/3 flashing everyone except the enemies and doesn't entry thinking they deserve plat. I love Valorant's team match making

He just has a better understanding of cypher, people over util and get lost in using it. Most of that gameplay was on attacking, even if you rotate flank on bind you don’t have the element of surprise because it’s a very team oriented map. In higher ranks lurking or flanking solo is expected and easy to lock down, and just one player dead on your team gives a significant disadvantage. He used his util perfectly, only low elo will worry about flanks on attack in these specific scenarios. Attackers already had site and were getting picks each round, you could save util for post plant (you should), instead of wasting it on a single lurker. Say spike is planted default it’s a 4v2 on a site, cypher set up his post plant, skye can flash for picks. You can hold and play time, rather than only relying on gunplay. Even if it’s a 5v1, your chances go up with the better post plant util. You can get info with cam, trigger cages and get free kills. He could be a diamond player easily.

He should play jett. He plays giga agro and Jett smokes are pretty similar to how cypher cage works.

as an asc player I was thinking the exact same, his aim is better than mine, he just needs to play an agent to match his playstyle

Personal I always use the sentinal on my team to make an entry for me if a team is covering all angles on site since I play renya I have a open entry and a flash for free frags

Aim isn't only what determines if ir ascendant, its the brains and teamwork that make you deserve it.

He should pick Jett, or at most, Raze. He's good with having his own smokes and rushing in to get kills. A dash would even get him to safety after those kills. Raze could be an option to double satchel and run it down but would need more training. Other agents like Yoru or Phoenix are not for him apparently.

Thing is if he discloses that he doesn't really play as a conventional sentinel one of them can possibly fill as a main sentinel. But imo he's fine not covering flanks as long as they play as if they had no trips.

he's using a sentinel as a duelist, yeah that would confuse any kind of team all the way to radiant. cool playstyle honestly and he should keep it up, definitely deserve top ranks

I actually feel good playing cypher as sort of a duelist. His smokes are so good in a way thay you can deploy easily and guarantee no one is camping the smoke. It's like jett smoke but with a different characteristic useful for short to midrange. I only peaked dia 3 so i could be wrong

I used to be an omen main and yet would do the duelists jobs better than them quite often and then i realised that i wasn't really using my smokes and so decide to switch to reyna and then quickly moved on to neon who i main now and am definitely doing better than i was.

Yeah he needs some sort of util to play like cypher on duelist like jett. What happens with me is that lower elo team doesn't entry with duelists but will blame you for dying too fast on entry. So I started moving to skye instead of reyna and basically play duelist on skye. The way he plays his smoke lets him basically entry and take control of map.

I think it's because of the fast and easy smokes with the trip to trap and stop the rush that makes him better

As an ascendant these are my thoughts. Im a shotgun only asc and his movement is definetly really good. But he also plays hella selfishly. The reason why most people in gold deserve gold is cuz there focus is to get the most kills possible. The goal is to win game, which means helping your teamates. people say him locking duelist will help but I disagree it will make him more selfish, best thing to do is learn to play for the team.

this is the kind of guy you want as your jett lmao. My brother's an aggressive gold omen who sometimes thinks he deserves diamond, but he knows some games he loses (team MVP on a loss) will be his fault because he's the entry, smokes, and plant and his team almost never is able to play off his death so he needs to value his life more. This cypher probably has the same performance type where he doesn't realize even if he's top frag, he's the reason his team sometimes loses games

To be fair he is attacking first and there’s not much util you can setup for on attack, you can do things post plant but you kinda just have to frag out in this situation

Idk i sometimes don't use the abilities cause playing aggressive tends to work, he prolly needs more pushback to start using those

Not a team player, it sucks but I’ve noticed that if I look out for my team it just screws me over because nobody is watching MY back and because they notice I’m helping them they get TOO aggressive and die. It is what it is

I think if u pick cypher u can definitely play like this cuz in higher lobbies everyone does their part (hopefully) But in mid leagues like gold u have to take charge urself ....he is a good player and definitely deserves a higher rank ❤

Don't put the trips waist height btw. Always do knee or lower it always works. And if you say "oh they can just jump over" tell me when you ever jumped over a Cypher trip. Half the time people never jump in games.

Cypher is a type of sentinel that has a very aggressively sneaky play style + very good elemental of surprise. He's good as a battle Cypher tho, but i want to see him in the defense side

Agree. He's a Duelist not a Sentinel. He would reach Plat easy with Reyna with no practice and if he main Jett for a period of time, he could be Ascendant.

gun skill ≠ rank. i’ve seen bronze/silver and golds out aim my friends who’ve hit radiant and high immortal. these ranks are 80% aim train and 20% in game sense 😭 that’s why u see this gold player not trip flank or any utility to help his team, just for himself

No one deserves a certain rank if they were never capable of reaching. Valorant is a game full of rng but if you play the game enough you’ll naturally end up where you belong, then it’s your choice to improve your mistakes and capitalize off your enemy’s habits.
