About your test GPU issues, it's likely a BIOS thing. These system often are either BIOS locked to certain generations or to UEFI only cards. Also NEVER think an IC that "looks the same" is similar... Very good chance it's very different and you broke an otherwise repairable card...

Your message is really important here: Beware whom you let into your hardware! As for the IC, well, it could be a lot of things. You can't just swamp ICs based on package these days. So, your soldering job might not be to blame, at all. And ripped pads are easy fix for someone with the equipment. I like your funny videos, by the way. Glad you got back to your roots!
@stevencoad9224

Yup, that’s a common package, with the IC destroyed you’d need either a pic of another one or a board schematic to figure out the right part number, It still *might* be saveable if anyone can help you figure out what IC it was.

If one of the pads is lifted you may still be able to revive it by bridging the connection between that pin and where it connects to using magnet wire as it looks like the pin goes to the resistor next to the pad that's broken. Other than that you'll need a hot air station to properly place the chip.

The pads on the PCB looked OK, but you could see the lower half of the IC was still mostly soldered to the board, but the wire bonds to the chip itself were broken. Most SMD ICs of this size (SOT23-5, or maybe SO70) have a marking on the top which helps you find the proper part number. It needed a replacement part. If that IC was the only thing wrong, the card was likely repairable.

I used to have a broken office chair... If I leaned back too much, like not even 30 degrees, I was on the floor. I fell asleep in it one night after a long gaming session sitting straight up, woke up to myself falling into my tempered glass desk. I still don't know how I didn't break that damn panel of glass, but I had the biggest and darkest bruise from that thing. Looked like I had been punched at least 10+ times in the arm in a row, but yet it was just 1/4" tempered glass panel....

It's hard to make it out on a gigabyte 1650 super "Looks pretty close to what you have though the windforce has a larger cooler and different location for power in", but from what I am seeing is TVE are the markings on the gigabyte and it's most likely a SOT 23-5 linear voltage regulator, TVE is part # S-11L10B12-M5T1U. Even on the zotac it is labelled L2 "Possibly L29" which is still a SOT 23-5 linear voltage regulator TK71629SCL. I bought a class d car amp once that had a bunch of destroyed SOT 23 transistors and had to identify them, luckily the letters were still visible, I fixed the amp on the first try. alltransistors is a good reference site which I have used many times.

Oh the irony, after this video I got a HP ad. Enjoy the adsense man from them, you've earned it! I wish these computers would become more open and with less proprietary connectors. Back in the day I had a crappy Acer with iGPU. It was trash but I kept it years because of the possibility of upgrades such as adding ram, storage, better GPU and swapping of the PSU. Also bios had very limited OC possibilities and I was so glad they were there. Learned a ton when tinkering with that computer.

HP and Dell have been making PCs with proprietary 12V PSUs for years now. Usually 8 pin connector. You can build or buy adapter cables. The worst thing is they use a 12V STANDBY power pin instead of 5V so the adapters are a little complex with voltage converter ICs. Google "24 to 8 pin dell power adapter". Anyway you can make your own adapter and force the PSU power on and manually switch the power. I have done this and nothing has burned up... results may vary.

Gotta Rossman this GPU up. Find out what that chip is and get a new one off Digikey or wherever. You have to make sure you know what that is. There are a tonne of different ICs that come in that package, from MOSFETs to LiIon chargers. If the copper trace is pulled off the PCB and broken, you can still find what it connects to and connect a line to it from the IC directly
