This was fun to watch Kris, thank you for taking us along! I like the staple pickup, sounds killer and I like how it seem that the Staple pickup theme is extended in the inlay style of the PJD fret board! Looks like it is a cohesive idea! oh an great jams for the background music too!!

Friend l GREATLY appreciate the plug and TRUTH about shielding. There’s SO much hype and myth on guitar and instrument design and building. I’m in the middle of contemplating compound radius or straight on my upcoming builds.

Thanks man! Don’t get me wrong, there is a place for shielding. If you have a terrible power situation at home, you should consider shielding. But for the most part it’s really not necessary. Cheers!

Love the result! I'm really not a fan of black/dark guitars but this one could change my mind. And the character of the neck pickup is just great. Definitely worth the work!

Hey who is a happy guitarist then? Well done my friend. Sounds way more bitey than with HB in the neck (although that also sounded damn good too). It is always so pleasing when you mod your own guitars and it works out - they always tend to be your favorites.

Hey Kris, great job! The guitar looks and sounds amazing! I especially like your guitar tweaks and mods videos. So much to learn from. Fascinating to me to watch your soldering skills. Which type of solder do you use and recommend for guitar electronics? And are there certain brands of solder that I should prefer concerning quality? Keep up the good work! All the best!

Thanks so much, glad to hear that! I'm not too picky with solder, I usually take a look at what luthiers use and order the same thing, haha! Right now I use a german brand (Felder) and it's called ISO-Core RA. It's 1mm with 2,5% flux, Sn 100 Ni+. That's all I know about it. :)

Looks and sounds great, but the Staples I am putting in my next build tackles the excessive highs, in my opinion, that come with A5 magnets, by using a combination of different magnets

Staple pickup sounds nice. Was thinking about one before putting mini hums in my LP custom. Maybe still something for the future. Looks and sounds great.

Great video and amazing job. I prefer the old bridge pickup. It sounded more barky. The new neck pickup sounded better more clarity.

Kris, is the Vintage Patina same thing as this lacquer you use which Gibson uses for their Custom Shop SG's finish(Nitrocellulose VOS)? Or they mean, the looks of it is Patina? Very cool built!

Sounds and looks really good - just a little question: have you thought of bleaching (Wasserstoffperoxid) the headstock to match the color of the back?? That would be the cherry... imao 😊

Haha, no I'm not planning on bleaching the neck, it's roasted maple and I love how it looks. You're right though, it's darker than the natural ash body, which is not a perfect match. But hey, I quite enjoy a bit of imperfection.

How do you get rid of hum and buzz in the videos?

I don't get rid of anything actually. This is the level of single coil hum that I'm getting, even with quite a lot of drive. That's the reason why I don't want shielding in my guitars. If it ain't broken, don't fix it, right?
