THIS GUNDAM GAME IS TRULY A HIDDEN GEM 

This game is waaaaay ahead of its time. It is the airdasher prototype. It has : -airdashes -superjumps -OTGs -EX moves -easy gatling combos -dashblocking -throw techs -supers -super guardcancels I think this game could be a tournament staple if it had damage scaling and infinite protection. It's just amazing.

This game was the reason I learned how to get SNES emulators running on our family computer as a kid. It was simply sublime.

The successor to this game, Gundam Battle Assault 2 on the PS1, is even better. It's slower paced, but it has more substance, and a much bigger roster. Maybe check it out sometime, Justin! Another one to check out is Gundam Extreme VS. Maxi Boost ON. It is THE BEST Arena Fighter ever made to date. You will love it.

Every Gundam was so unique and had such good and interesting moves. Vaeyatte was kind of trash but had the mega leaf blower finisher. The music was god tier.

Man, this game has so much in it that becomes standard on anime fighters later it's unreal. Air dash, double jump, air block, air throw, guard cancels, all in other fighters but put together in a great package here. I wish I appreciated this game more as a kid. Also Justin: Zeta = Zeta Gundam, the sequel to the original show. A lot of people say it's pretty much the best in Gundam. Thanks for the memories with this one my man.

Back in highschool in the early 2000s this game was small enough that it would fit in the server storage we were all allocated on the school servers so anytime we had a free period with computers everyone would play it. I can remember that opening theme pitch perfect in my brain to this day.

As soon as i read Gundam game in the thumbnail i instantly thought of this one.i remember playing it a few times in an emulator, such a fun game.

Dude i LOVE this game. The combat system. The graphics. The music. The SOUND EFFECTS!! I remember first playing this game a few years ago and me and my brother would go at it! so happy that it is Fightcade supported. Just a matter of getting more people into it.

Yes, that game was a surprise. I played it in the late 2000s and was impressed. I probably only beat it once, because the last boss is like Akuma. I play Death Scythe.

I don't know if he already did, but I wish Justin gave Gundam Maxi BOOST a try. That game is dope; best arena fighter that actually does the genre well; it has combos for days and it's easy to learn but hard to master. It's nothing like those anime arena fighters with pretty visuals but shallow everything else.

I have played so much Endless Duel, that game is godlike. It honestly feels almost like a precursor to some of the stuff that ends up being part of the MvC series and Guilty Gear in some ways.

AKA: State of Play) nice to see you play this game. Edit: By the way, NICE Guard Cancel at the end, this game was a pinnacle of anime style fighting games, that's why it needs to have more atention nowdays.

Thanks to this game I met Gundam, that intro with the music of Rhythm Emotion stayed forever in my memory. I wish the Gundam Seed fighting games had been as beautiful as this one or the ones on ps1.

Theres an English patch of this game, now it is posdible to play it translated on both original hardware or emulator.

Man, this game really takes me back. All the machines had their fun stuff, my favorite was Vayate with its obnoxiously long slide and projectile eating shots. Also that tosses in this game just look so sick. I swear that final battle theme is the only reason I could put up with Epyon's bullshit.

Yo, you wanna talk about a REAL Gundam hidden gem??? Check out Gundam: EX Revue. Japanese arcade only, 1v1 fighter like this, baller soundtrack, great gameplay, and uses the OG Gundam guys instead of Wing. It's sick AF, finding a ROM of it is easy too.

I've discovered this game very recently and all I have to say is... This game has no right to both look and play that damn good for a SNES game.

This and DBZ hyper dimension were my 2 favorite fighters growing up. Theres 3 or 4 characters who can infinite combo if your fast enough. Tallgeese has an upward dash attack that can infinite juggle if you do it right.

Played this way back in the day. Truly a forgotten gem. I would say Techromancer on the Dreamcast was a modern day follow up.

If you want another surprisingly well done, competitive licensed FG I'd love to see you check Pokken out again. I know you did some invitationals and such waaay back when it first came out, but there's been a ton of additional characters, balance changes (a lot of characters straight up got brand new moves) and other improvements on Switch/in patches since the WiiU release. I really think it's an underrated competitive title, since beyond just having a really varied set of characters/playstyles and being really well balanced, I think the phase shift system does a lot to emphasize neutral and adaptive play; as does the way the game handles attack heights: With the former, at high level play, you need to be constantly changing up your combo composition and move choice in response to the state of the match and if staying in the 2d phase, or shifting to the 3d phase would be to your advantage, and all the tradeoffs that brings: EX: Perhaps you almost have full meter, and have a TON of grey life: You can go for a bnb combo which does high damage and is safe, or you can go for one which is slightly less safe or does less damage, but causes more shift points and would cause a shift, and since shifting gives you meter, it gives you burst which then you can use to regen your grey health... or maybe you have the other player in the corner under pressure, and you have the choice to go for a higher damage combo at the cost of it causing a shift and it causing return to neutral and you loser your advantage; or you can go for a lower damage combo that keeps things in the 2d phase and them in the corner with the potential long term potential for higher damage inside that phase (so a reset, basically) As far as the height system, Pokken does it so that rather then heights existing as a way for moves to bypass and punish blocks, it's for moves to bypass and punish each other during their active frames. Other fighting games have this to a degree, such as 2H's in DBFZ having air invulnerability, but in Pokken, most moves in the games have something like this, as on top of all moves having a height they hit on, MOST moves also have a height property defining what heights are invulnerable to and will pass over or under, with their being a total of 6 height states. This leads to more mixups and reversals in stuff like wakeup situations or in neutral. So thanks to both of those systems, I find Pokken to be a really dynamic fighting game where a LOT more of any given match is spent in neutral or where both players are in an active role, and relatively less time where a player is locked down in a corner and has to play passively.

It really is a great 2-d fighter title Some of the emulators have the different midi tracks tied to and mutable by the f-keys, and you could toggle these tracks into sick beat-drops. This game was fun in ways it had no business being.

Still one of my favorite fighting games after all these years. Game was mind blowing, and still kind of is. Near the top of my list of games I'd remake/update if I had the power to do so. What I'd do (if possible): -rebalance so weaker mech can be viable. -fix the easier to do infinites. Biggest balance issue in this game is that the infinite combos are mostly way to easy to land. -HD update. Existing art is awesome; but if you want people to play this now, it needs a fresh coat of paint. I'd update the background and sprites to as high a level of detail as you can (may be tricky since it's a SNES ROM to get very high, plus SF2HDR taught us HD graphics on 16bit frame rates can look hanky.) -updated versions of mechs. Like Wing.0, add in the updates to the other Gundam such as Deathscythe Hell. -option to play different pilots with different mech like in Cyberbots. Let this option change up movesets a little bit. Would also address the fact Mercurius (my main) and Vayeate have the wrong pilots. -tag? Fun trivia; the western localization of this game is Power Rangers.
