The Halo show is its own timeline, not a direct adaptation. I'm curious how it'll be handled but I doubt we'll have direct adaptations of events from the games because the timeline choice was done for creative freedom.

Paramount tends to order additional seasons (or series for you guy across the pond ;) of their shows that they see as doing well. Look at the announcements that came out about the various Star Trek, they ordered additional seasons for all of the shows, including ones that have not even aired yet. They seem to be good at predicting success, and it is a good marketing move. Who wants to watch a show and not have it come back after a cliffhanger.

I'm so firmly on the fence with this one. The first trailer didn't do it for me and the Cortana thong was just weird. I hope they pull it off I really do but when adaptations start arbitrarily changing things like the art style or canon of an existing IP it's usually time to worry!

The UNSC trying to find the Halo to use it on the Covenant to end the war is already a completely different story. What's next, Jorge is alive? Arbiter remains with the Covenant? Brutes end up as the allies after the Great Schism? So far of what we know anything is possible. Right now for me it's a "Negative Infinity. I don't like it." I'm too attached to the official lore, and newcomers to the series will be hella confused with the story between the show and games/books. Not understanding the split timelines.

This happens with streaming services. Usually greenlight multiple seasons up front. They typically dont disclose viewership numbers either. So if the show flops they will proclaim success, then lessen the budget for future seasons and cancel it when the contract is fulfilled.

Season 2 being announced before anyone has seen season ; give me vibes of how Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilms was going to give Rian Johnson a trilogy to direct before Last Jedi was released and yet we all know how much of a disaster that was.... They should've just simply wait to announced Season 2 until after the 1st episode drops... They've now set a bar of expectations for a series they deemed non canon which many are more wanting a Show or Movie centered around the Master chief like how Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson failed to continue.

The show has nothing to do with the current story line. Obviously not completely separate, for example both the games and the show have Spartans, elites, etc. But in terms of storyline the show is going to be completely different from the games, and therefore, it's probably going to be shit.

It means possibly one of a few things or all of them. It could mean the marketing and all the trailers are tracking really well, it could mean the execs are impressed by the show itself , it could mean the execs feel Paramount needs a big IP and Halo is it. Either way, it all stems from the same place ; someone with their hand on the checkbook likes this show

Just doesn’t instill the most confidence in me because historically speaking video game movies and TV shows based off of actual video games haven’t done all that well and for them to greenlight a second season before the release of the first one I don’t feel it’s going to that technically savvy. Also since none of this is canon I feel like they are not going to properly respect halo lore and it might honestly become a mixed bag but hopefully I am proven wrong and my cynical nature is obliterated by the show I want it to be good but I am not hopeful.

@@UltimateHalo117 you’re exactly right, the original or newest agreements and contract terms will have final say, I feel that an artist deserves creative control and reimbursement for their work, Microsoft doesn’t have the heart to compose Marty’s work by themselves and all they can do is imitate it the best they can but being able to continue his direction is not in their wheelhouse I don’t believe. Here’s on aspiring artist that hopes we all get what our content deserves, money isn’t everything but it sure does help
