Right... most times people type nasty shit in chat you either think not their best day or complete idiot. But I looked at that typed chat and after that game I think that was a measured response.
That first game was the most devastatingly one sided massacre I've ever seen at this level! There was absolutely no point in this game the opponent made ANY real progress. It looked so painful to be them the whole game. EVERY SINGLE MOVE was just crushingly frustrating... WOW!
He already did but with the additional challenge of having to win* within 6 minutes. *later got relaxed to final attack within 6 mins, no more mining after that. Mainly because a totally winning position without enemy surrendering would be a technical loss on original rules & it needed a way to accomodate no-surrenders.
One way to work on specific matchups is to practice it from the other side, it helps to learn the timings or counters by trying to run things from their side. My TvZ got better when I started playing more ZvT!
@@TheSuperappelflap along with learning English making his command of the language such that he can fluidly commentate while perfectly micro/macroing. I broke my arm cycling in the Netherlands (despite it being flat) as a kid in the 90's, I still hold all Dutch responsible including Marc, bastard broke my arm :P
@@beardedchimp Yeah and the Germans still owe me a bicycle evem though I actually inherited my grandfathers bicycle. English is quite easy to learn for us Dutchies, I was fluent in it by age 12. All our tv shows, movies, video games, half the books and all the advertisements were in English. Most had subtitles, except for the books, obviously. I was reading along with mr. David Attenborough narrating National Geographic documentaries when I was six. And this was before the internet or social media. Although I did learn a lot of English names for fish when I played Runescape.
@@TheSuperappelflap what I find fascinating about Dutch English is that you'll speak to one and they have a clearly UK+Ireland inspired accent, then 10 mins later hear another with a thick American accent. From my understanding, the English media and teachers have a big impact. If you grew up listening to David Attenborough, watching Monty Python and/or had a teacher who studied here you'll have some amalgamation of our accents. About a decade ago I was visiting an old Northern Irish family friend in Morocco. He had taught English to this local man he had befriended. His accent was amazingly Norn Irish, he could understand my family perfectly but struggled with my English girlfriend hahahaha.
People get so twisted when they play terrible or lack any technical skillz at all... too bad the petulant children can't see the genius of uT like we do =)))
What the hell was Game 2?! Absolute masterclass in use of cloaked units. Glad to see you brought back a bit of that old Ghost to GM at the end; the scouring of enemy bases with nuclear fire was nostalgically delicious to watch haha. GGWP!!!
I can sympathise with Thermie's desire to actually enjoy the game with crazy strats and so forth. The main reason my SC2 game was terrible is that *i really like to watch the fights* , I'd hate having to just give an order and move away to inject or build depots or whatever, *i wanna watch the boys go in guns blazing!*
There's one thing that always bothered me. The whole pro-player scene avoids using any static defenses at all cost. I understand the arguments, but I think that in time it turned to a "not use static defenses at all". If the Protoss player in the first game placed two photon cannons guarding the probes, almost the whole early-game shenanigans wouldn't do him any harm. Even if we justify not placing a photon cannon because not knowing of uThermal's tactic, then he definitely should have done that after the first mine. I'm often playing reaper shenanigans (4 reapers before 3:00). It really often happens that Protosses get obliterated by such a simple attack, because 4 reapers microed are enough to kill a stalker (let alone zealot and adept) and if only allowed near mineral line, they wreak havoc. If the Protoss player places a single photon cannon in his base, I'm out of luck, the only thing I can do is poke and prod at the farthest-laying buildings.
They don't avoid it at all cost; they avoid building it if it is possible to skip it without taking too much damage. In the cases of emergencies like playing against all-ins and cheeses, pros generally do build a couple of defenses to defend. The issue with building static defense is that it slows your build a lot while not providing pressure. Lets take the first game for example. If barcode wanted to build cannons the moment he realized that there were cloaked mines, he would first have to build a forge. Which means that he wouldn't have money to build a stalker. And then for each cannon that he build, he could have built a stalker instead. In the end, he would have traded ~3 stalkers for 2 cannons, which can't move to defend weak points in the defense, and in the event that the defense is successful, cannot threaten a counter attack.
@uThermal Do you know the channel that covered Home Story Cup this year? I know you'd like to stay retired but I really enjoy watching you play. I'd like to watch your games with the other pros cuz you're still a pro in my book.
“I wouldn’t consider myself a pro…” says guy that receives compensation from people watching him do something against the top 200 players in the world at something…
uThermal I think I got one of the best nukes in history, a trap with a mule. I'm your fan, if you're interested I'll send you a replay of this great work
I don't play starcraft but I love watching your content. It's rare to see someone who clearly enjoys playing and experimenting in a game so thoroughly. Most game content creators get very caught up in trying to win and seem to forget why they're there in the first place.
its not fake account, its anonymous. since you cant spell their name, its impossible to look them up and also impossible to differentiate them from any other barcode players.
Yes actually, 2 cannons would’ve absolutely dead stopped that attack. Obs and stalkers in place wouldve done the job anyway though, no need to spend money on static D
bro he plays non optimal builds, also look how much extertainment people are getting, thousands of people are getting regular joy from watching his vids, and only a handful of his enemies are maybe getting a little salty, good trade off.
