This HUGE Exploit Just Lost Steam MILLIONS in Skins & Unusuals... 

Even though this is an extreme circumstance, sadly Valve will probably never reverse any trades since the items in question have switched so many hands and the sheer volume of items lost. They likely won’t duplicate items either, as this would heavily cause damage to many economies. At most the smurf accounts in question will get banned and not many people will use third party sites much anymore.

Just shut down all gamblings sites.

Still crazy to me that these gambling sites still exist despite all the stuff that happened with CS:GO a few years ago. Feel like Valve needs to take action with this and possibly take down these sites.

Really hope Valve reverses those trades. It's not the first time steam users have lost thousands of $ worth of virtual goods due to a Steam exploit; remember the tradeback unboxing mess? Remember the fake golden pan item generated by a game pretending to be TF2? I just hope Valve does what's best for the good of their games' economies and reverse the damages done

worst part is all of them are not following steam TOS so its even more fucked for the owners of the sites

To anyone in the comments, there is no way that Valve would reverse any trades. Using third-party websites would reasonably invalidate any protections under the agreement everyone signed. Additionally, Valve hasn’t restored items to accounts in years and it is directly stated that account security is the responsibility of the owner and that you have no protections if your information or inventories are compromised as a result of using a third-party website. In short, NEVER sign over your items to a website without getting anything in return, NEVER use gambling websites (the odds of winning are astronomical), and NEVER allow your login info to be put in a compromising situation.

Which was also why I do go to third party site of trading much rarely due to personal reason, but because of API exploit existed thx for reminding me about that too. Already makes me not wanna do trading or buying items from third party sites anymore (for now perhaps)

Even with all the security, it's better to not use third-party sites that requires the Steam api to login. You never know when things go south.

I don't see all this "Scandal" as something bad. Most of those "Milionaire" accs are run by bots. people that don't even play the game anymore, people that don't deserve to have their items, because they cheat by using bots. They don't even need to be on their PCs. They even made bots answer questions, talk to those who play the game.

Why would you report on an issue and go "I"m not gonna give site attention by not uttering its name" then you leave the viewer with an incomplete set of facts and it draws far more attention to it than if you just did the segment normally.

Trusting 3rd party sites is just too dangerous really. Rip to anyone that got fucked up from this. If one site or more got hacked, then you can be sure many others are unsafe or vulnerable to stuff like this. Especially if it's bots cause they can be pretty easily exploited.

hacking and stealing as bad and all... but these are gambling sites, so we shouldn't feel too bad for the people who lost items; I could bet most of the items stolen are from inventories that are linked to the site with higher chance to win, rather then normal accounts
