wait reversing the ad actually makes so much sense. I originally thought the complaints about the ad were a bit overblown, but seing just how much better it could be done simply by playing it backwards which preserves the intended meaning while also giving it the positive subtext instead of the negative one, i have completely changed my mind.
I think they were trying to play on the viral trend of using hydraulic presses to crush different things. It can be funny and satisfying to watch in a short but the way Apple portrayed it, esp with the music, felt...off. Like, it could have worked with less somber music and not showing shots of humanoid, vaguely sad looking things getting crushed.
This is gonna die in the comment section but holy shit, I’m a marketing student and reversing the new iPad comercial is such a smart move I loved seeing it in reverse and hate that I didn’t see that before.
The flirty AI is so terrifying because it’s not actually feeling anything it’s just replicating how people talk through bulk data models. It’s horrifying
The GPT talking like that is honestly terrifying. considering how low I feel already, if I had a human show 1/10th of that emotion or care when talking to me I would cave instantly. Putting that as a robot on a phone is fucking scary.
Honestly I really prefer when the assistant is not a human because it's not one. Someone will use this AI to make one of those shitty AI girlfriend apps that exploit people's vulnerabilities and loneliness. Siri and Google Assistant are good because they aren't people so I can talk to them as if they are a computer, I don't want to have to consider the AI like a person
It’s like an effigy replicating humanity, it’s not even like a sentient AI woman it’s just mashing together tones and word choices from a large language model. Creepy
Marketing Mondays is probably my favorite series…really fun way to get an update on an assortment of topics id otherwise never see from a perspective i don’t have as someone stuck in a lab all day. Thanks big A
Pokémon did an advertisement for the original red and blue that consisted of them crushing a bus with Pokémon inside down into a game boy. So the concept has been done before but that was over 20 years ago now.
I know Robert Marion. He platform maintains a unique perspective and is very transparent with their investors. Regardless of whether or not he outperforms. I will forever stay invested!
As someone in the car business, the teslas are going for all the money in auctions due to the 4K back credit from government so hertz is just fine AGAIN
Okay whats makes 20:16 funnier is that there is an anime coming out this summer or fall about an over worked Japanese office worker buying an AI maid robot and him asking it to marry him and over time Detroit Become Human style the AI maid starts to act more like a human.
first heard about the cargo cult when listening to a war hammer podcast its so interesting to think how cultures can develop in completely batshit crazy ways
My wife and I doordashed for over a year to make ends meet. One thing Doordash doesn't do is pay taxes on your income. So you will get fucked at tax time. We did. But we had to stop dashing because the tips just suck. We are a "Platinum Tier Dasher" because we average a 4.9 star rating and we were at a 99% acceptance rate (meaning we accepted every order that Doordash gave us). Because we were a Platinum Dasher, with a great rating and high acceptance rate, we could dash whenever we wanted without scheduling a shift in advance. We were also informed that we were "bring prioritized for higher paying tips", which seemed to help at first. We were averaging like $30+ an hour. But recently, we had to stop because even with the same above stats and prioritization, we had some nights making only like 5-10 bucks an hour. It's insane.
The people calling the GPT stuff fake is hilarious copium. AI is going to keep advancing at a scary rate, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you can stop living in denial
@@Goodfacts-hj2zfI don't think they're telling you to adopt AI they were just saying that calling it fake is silly. It's real and it's here regardless of personal opinions on if it's a good or bad thing. This would be a better analogy in a different context
@@Goodfacts-hj2zf Yeah, I don’t know if this would be the best analogy, but I’d say it’s more like looking at the first planes and saying that “a plane could never fly without crashing” or something like that.
Just a quick addition to the GME part. The stock price didn't start rising because of DFV, at the point he started tweeting the stock already went from ~$16 into the $25 range. And to anyone interesting in playing GME, please don't just buy and hold (and do some actual research, if possible with information from people that actually understand how the market works). If we're lucky we're going to get more of the FTD cycles we saw back in the day when GME ran like every 3 months! Also since short interest was mentioned in the vid, the last run didn't really rely on that. At least not long shorts, it was mostly vol shorts getting squeezed out due to Vega skyrocketing.
The nvidia ad with the discoball doesn't destroy artistic implements, but computer components and some flashy stuff. It would have 10000% been better if it had been implemented as Big A described it as a laptop ad.
Yo that GPT-4o showcase is the craziest thing I've seen in a long time. it sounded so real and honestly pre-recorded, but if it's not, i guess a Bluey robot will babysit your children soon. The dystopian future really seems to speed towards us.
I feel like there's been like a dozen of the squeeze type ads, but usually they don't actually crush physical objects but do something more squishy because it seems less destructive. that would have avoided basically all of this
The funniest thing is that all the people who've been holding it for so long will celebrate this opportunity to cash out and then keep holding until the price goes down.
The apple ad is so simple symbolism idk how people read it so wrong. Yeah the items are there because they look more interesting when the break. I think reversing it its that much better because its harder to understand what the explosions are until a bit after, if they wanted cumulative building, 3d printer comes to mind but idk how to turn that into a full ad that doesn't come off as an ad for the printer, maybe metal casting?
Big fan of these sections, but I think the GameStop portion is a big for me. Keith Gill did only anticipate a 4-5x, but he has later streams that describes what he thinks Ryan Cohen needs to do to turn it around. And it's mostly about reducing negative cash flow for the past 3 years, and moving to higher margin products (candycon for example). Failing fast is better than sticking with failing products. And the company has a billion on hand to make meaningful investment once they reduce losses. AND we're getting news of the new consoles upcoming which is part of their cyclical model.
Economic Nihilism is real, been saving up all my life and I don’t even have enough for a mortgage deposit, so I just punted it all into a motorcycle for some dad lore
One small thing that just rides me up the walls is when companies (cough cough APPLE) advertize that their devices are "the best EVER". For something to be the best "ever" of a product, it needs to be better then all previous AND FOLLOWING generations. Its a subtle word choice to make people think (at least a little bit) that they wont need to buy another device for a really long time when in reality these companies will gaslight you into thinking last years ipad is sh|t because this one can fold into pieces easier then last year.
Imagine chat gpt 5.o inside of a boston dynamics robot in your home; full blown AI personal assistant. Have it run errands for you, do chores, cook, etc... We're two decades out from The Jetsons being a reality.
insane that gamestop hasnt just decided to make a service like steam or the epic games store. like it probably wouldnt go super well, but thats their main competition, and they arent even trying to compete, their one saving grace is people wandering around malls and stopping by to see what games they have.
10:22 Yeahh, the ladder doesn’t go ‘Up’ anymore. It goes sideways, there’s no floor and you’re grabbing onto metaphorical poles. Some go straight upp tho
I'd really love it if you could post the links to the articles you reference in these videos. I would love to read them to gain a deeper understanding without having to scour google using the quotes you used.
A guy I went to school with went to prison in early 2017 prior to the BTC boom. He had a fair bit of his networth invested in BTC at the time. He held his BTC until he was released in early 2024...
if it were me making that ipad commercial, i would have done some goofy mary poppins thing where im trying my hardest to fit everything inside it. funny montage sort of vibe
An idea I just thought of, Apple could have literally done a piece where a person flows through time capturing the beautiful creativity that we have created, making it flow into the product
The FTX part is not true. Users are getting the cash value of their assets at the bottom of the market. Since the market is at highs they are pretty much taking a 75% loss because they decided to hold their funds on FTX
