Let’s walk through the full process of diagnosing a No Power scenario on an iPhone 8. This includes diagnosing at the logic board level.
First, we check with the USB Meter (amzn.to/3xKji3t) how much current draw there is when trying to charge.
Then we can run a Tristar Tester (www.mobilesent...) to see if any issues are detected in the charging circuit.
Next, we take the board out of the housing & test the logic board only with the DC Power Supply / DT880 (vccboardrepair....
Once we see there’s current draw before prompt to boot, we use the Seek Thermal Cam (amzn.to/34I4whX) with Macro Lens (www.vccboardre...) and stand (vccboardrepair...) to try to find the source of heat.
In this case, we found GSMPA_K was shorted. So we replaced it... but then we ran into trouble.
