The fact that the strongest combatants sensed Saturn’s presence when he arrived on the island was crazy. It wasn’t like, “someone strong has arrived”, it was genuine confusion over a mysterious entity. Also makes me wonder if Kizaru (or any of the admirals) has even seen the Gorosei in these forms.

The way I understood was Saturn noticed the soldier saw him and killed him for it, not that looking at him inherently kills you

That buildup before the circle appeared was so well done. Everyone with observation haki senses him coming and immediately knows something is wrong. That look on Lucci’s face… guy was terrified. Jinbei’s line there was also odd to me, noting that Saturn had a “strange presence”. Not strictly powerful or intense, but strange, as if it is something he doesn’t recognize. Something he’s never sensed before. If Saturn really is a demon, then that strange presence would make sense.

Franky and Sanji being the first straw hats to see Saturn is so appropriate, both being ya know… all science’d up. This is a really awesome and under utilized pairing. Having those two defending Vegapunk will be awesome, even if it doesn’t exactly go their way.

Yes, the Jailer Beasts were overcome by their Fruits so their awakenings remained incomplete. That could mean Chopper’s true awakening is still in store.

So this is the reason my boy Sabo could barely escape the gorosei at Marijoise. Truly terrifying! Imagine facing them all at once!!

This could be why Fujitura blinded himself so he could fight the elder if nessecary, he probably saw a bunch of people's heads blown off that changed his life forever

From this point on we can just boldly assume that each of the Gorosei + Imu owns a devil fruit that actually lives up to the name 'Devil fruit'

Saturns entrance was so disturbing. He didn’t just leap out of the boat on island he crawled out of a black pentagram, and announced how long it’s been since he’s been to the surface. It just makes you feel like he is unworldly. This definitely added another layer to one piece for me. I knew the elders were going to be strong no matter what, but in no way shape or form did I expect this. It creates an entirely different power level for me. Makes me think of how strong emperors are to rule certain parts of the world, but how strong all 5 of them damn elders must be to rule the entire world. Another thing this makes me think of is Shanks. Everyone felt Saturns presence once he stepped foot on the island. Shanks being in a room with all 5 of them he must know their strength. Maybe he was just holding back the monsters of the world. Keeping some type of balance.

The fact that the Gorosei are officially this powerful and demonic makes the meeting they had with shanks even more interesting to me

I really hope Sanji completely realizes that there is an elder standing in front of him. If he makes the connection and realizes that these are the people directly responsible for Robin's suffering he will hopefully let his chivalry take the better of him. I don't think he can beat Saturn but maybe he can prevent him from harming Vegapunk by holding him in check.

I believe saturn may be one of the reasons fujitora took his own vision, given that maybe he needed to do so in order to survive, or to unsee the horrors that he had witnessed on that fateful day...

I like to think that Fujitora knew about the demons who call themselves gods and reside in the heavens, and that was one of the “many evils” that caused him to blind himself.

I agree. I preferred sabo saying hell was located at the top of the world. It felt much more appropriate and after this chapter it definitely fits better

The Saturn reveal was crazy, I love the idea of these crazy mythological creatures ruling the world in secrecy for 800 years. Also, even if the original Impel Down awakened Zoans are actually "awakened", they're probably failures due to their fruit taking over their mind or whatever. While Saturn, Luffy, Lucci, Kaku, and Yamato all still have their personalities with that cloud sash thing. Even if this wasn't Odas intention and he just changed the design over time to look cooler, he could easily fit it into the plot like he did with Haki.

I have a feeling that in the next chapter, Elder Saturn will easily shrug off the sword stab from Bonney and send her flying with a casual exertion of his Haki.

GLR articulates these chapters extremely well. I especially liked how he drew the parallel from when bonney stopped zoro from using swords on the celestial dragons, to now bonney using a sword to stab Saturn, the ultimate contradiction out of sheer emotional rage is brilliant. Also love the incredible artwork your artist provide for the videos. One piece is at its best and I cannot contain my excitement. Next chapter will be insane!

I think the biggest positive about the whole Egghead arc has been it's constant unpredictability. From one week to the next, it's been almost impossible to say what's going to happen. And I would say it's the same thing again. Genuinely no idea where this is headed, although I suspect the gigantic robotic undertones set up a couple of chapters ago are going to come into play sooner rather than later. But even still, no idea what the robot is going to do and to whom.

Note on Bonnie using her fruit powers on Saturn: Isn't there ambiguity about the elder stars being pseudo immortality levels of old or possibly even immortal. Would be interesting if she tried to age him down and noticed it took quite a bit longer than usual, or tried to age him up to death and realized his age had no limits to reach.

I really love the "camera work" while Saturn was summoned (?) all the angles showing around the island and Vegatank gave almost like cinematic experience

Saturns introduction and design truly looks monstrous. The Gorosei appearing like an Elder Gods from a Lovecraft story was absolutely the right way of setting up these egimas. I wonder how Kizaru or the Akainu will react to knowing they are serving literal demons.

Saturn looking like a yokai makes me wonder if the giant shadowy entities in the Thriller Bark arc are in fact the yokai they resemble. Garcia's moment when he looks at Luffy and says "Nika..." seems to be done with an air of disappointment or sadness, like they are "siblings" and Nika is the rebellious one. I am 100% speculating out loud, but so far this arc has given us so much more clarity at the cost of more mystery. God I love this series!

I think the head exploding may be some form of advanced conquerors haki, since Saturn uses his eyes when the marines head explodes and since the marine would not have as much will as Saturn does.

I happened to be listening to the dark souls III soundtrack when I read the chapter and it made the experience all the more intimidating

With the reveal of Saturn being a Mythical Zoan user, I am excited to see his other fellow Elders of their respective Mythical Zoan powers in the Final Saga of One Piece.

I feel like us constantly being reminded of the pacifista command structure is setup for an eventual reveal that there's actually another tier above the elders that they weren't privy to

The pentagram kinda implies that it is more of a DF than haki. Saturn's whole "aura" seems more akin to some kind of "magician" like threat: Sugar or the Barrier Old lady than he is a bruiser like Kaido or Kizaru.

This chapter threw me around with every individual panel more than most chapters have as a whole. Every scroll down was a massive twist. Definitely worth the break, and definitely the most hype chapter in a long time. This is something most movies use for their massive cliffhangers. 1095 is going to be absolutely insane. I cannot imagine how this will look in the anime. It will definitely need a new and more epic version of Difficult to make it perfect.

It actually makes some sense for the Gorosei to have these powerful forms that you can barely comprehend, let alone perceive.

What if the robot was activated by Saturns presence? And now Saturn and the robot will go at it next chapter?!

This new sense of terror Saturn's transformation gives me is very akin to an Apostle transformation from Berserk. There is this other-worldly aura and uncanniness surrounding Saturn's demon form that I only remember feeling when a member of the God Hand would appear in the story in Berserk. I wonder if Oda consciously used Miura-san's work as inspiration here.

Saturn has proven to be pretty scary, though one thing that scares me is they don't say his devil fruit name making me wonder if there's a possibility he doesn't have a devil fruit and may just be a straight up demon.

The way the marine reacted to Bonnies ability makes me think he didn't only age in an instant, but he lived an entire lifetime standing there decaying until he was just a skeleton, and snapped back to present time all in one instant.

this was legitimately one of the best drawn One Piece chapters as of recent. Bonney's scene when she's attacked by the pacifistas, Luffy's attack on Kizaru, and pretty much everything revolving Saturn were immaculate (yes, we've had a similar bonney scene earlier on, the mecha shark scene and the ancient robot reveal were too super cool, but we didn't have a single chapter packed with this much good art in quite some time imo) makes me wonder if this was the first chapter he started from scratch since he's had his eye surgery, while all the other ones had at least been already "drafted" beforehand.

Just asking, is Magic a thing in One Piece? Because in the manga I read, they called it “Magic Circle”. Because many magical things in OP is caused by Devil Fruit but ‘magic’ is new to me.

The aawakening of the giant robot will come in handy for the strawhats to escape. I don’t think any of them could handle Saturn.

It’s crazy how a dark turn One Piece took in the story. It went from “fun, pirate adventure!” Into Luffy is the man who has to defeat the One Piece version of the Illuminati who views themselves as gods (in this case they could be gods/demons). I’m curious if the Yonkos (both current and former members) in their primes were able to combat a 5 elder or even Imu. I also can’t wait for Dragon and the Holy Knights to showcase their abilities. There are so many people in One Piece it’s hard to power scale or at least display their full potentials.

I love this chapter review because it’s noticeable how excited you are about the chapter. This chapter is one of the most impactful to me because with Saturn joining the fight it truly feels like One Piece is approaching the climax of the story, a point where every battle will change the world more than the previous arcs have.

I think Bonney couldn't use her fruit on Saturn not because of his haki, but maybe it's because they (the Gorisei) are actually "perpetually youthful" so the amount of years she can manipulate in both directions just leaves him the exact same.

I think Saturn is really really old, Like 800+ years old. So him being immortal, makes Bonnie's aging power kinda useless against him.

I love how after their ride crashed, both Franky and Sanji checked on the ones they cared about most in that moment (Franky with Vega and sanji with the women)

I might feel different than others, but when I saw that marine age into a skeleton and then back, that was absolutely chilling to me, not played for gags. That man looks absolutely horrified.

one thing to mention is how he looked at luffy and called him nika, with these stripes on his eyes I immediately thought that nika is the OG joyboy that went into a 1v5 vs the elders ages ago and he lost, Saturn's expression shows history

What if the Gorosei have the original devil fruits? Kinda as if the original fruits turned their users into literal devils, until Nika came around and, not only "became a fruit himself", but turned the devil fruits into the manifestation thing we see Vegapunk theorize

The weirdest part of the chapter for me was Saturn simply telling the Pacifistas to "stand down"... Why not redirect them to attack again like Kizaru did? He knows he can handle this solo... Now THATS scary.

What's so scary is that how powerful is shanks and mihawk.. meaning Shanks got an audience with them.. and wasnt nervous at all.. and they seem more cautious..

My greatest surprise was the actual mention of magic. It reminds me of the original one piece one shot with magic and devil fruit as two different abilities. It's like Oda still holding on to the magic idea.

Been thinking this for a while ever since that scene with Sabo saying that he found Hell: If the theory about BB having some kind of Cerberus thing is true, then he would be, in some way, the guardian of Hell's gates.

Elder Saturn gave us a *mind blowing* display of his powers in the field of battle.

I've been mostly against the idea that Luffy will actively take down the world government since it didn't seem very in character for him, but this arc might be their way of showing how big a threat those at the top really are for the entire world. Also since Luffy's power is a mythical Zoan modeled after a god, then I think the 5 elders having mythical Zoans modeled after demons would make a crazy amount of sense, especially with how desperate they were to keep Nika from returning.

Alright, it's time for a good old-fashioned fan prediction.... 1. Marcus Mars is an Istumade, a bird yokai that appears after natural disasters... fitting for the Warrior God of Environment. Think Quetzalcoatl. 2. Shepherd Ju Peter is a Dorotabo, a mud zombie that arises from neglected fields... good for the Warrior God of Agriculture 3. Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro is the long neck one... hmm.. this is a tough one, there is a lot of long neck yokai... my guess he is a Mikoshi-nyudo only because he is bald.. but I can't think of finance theme to match. 4. Topman Warcury is maybe a Baku... It would match the look. But Bakus are often good omen.. but they can be bad too.

It makes so much sense now, all of the Gorosei are probably literal demonic entities from mythology across the world. Making it ironic they call themselves Saints. This could also potentially make it that Imu’s fruit is definitely the demonic antithesis to Nika. Yes he is Sun God Nika but his fruit carry’s the power of imagination/dreams. Making Imu’s counter fruit maybe being based on Nightmares somehow. Also, the numbers of the demonic summoning sigil as I’m calling it, remind me of the pacifistas and Seraphim. Maybe from the ancient kingdom instead. Made by Imu or taken over by Imu.

The Impel Down guards were awakened but the devil fruit personality consumed them in the process. Users with the smoke band around the shoulders have awakened and tamed the fruit.... I think..

Bonny's evolution is great as she now uses her devil fruit with bullets and weapons. Also, Luffy breaking Kizarou down enough for his cartoon gags to work on him is amazing.

Seeing Saturn recognize Nika with just a glimpse makes me think that he had in fact seen him before, which adds to the theory of the gorosei being alive during the void century

My thoughts & opinions of the chapter: 1. I don't expect Bonney to beat Saturn before Luffy could, but I have a feeling that either Sanji or Kuma will take her place just like what Robin did when facing Black Maria. 2. Despite what form Saturn took on, I can't help but feel that Luffy's potential fight with him will become a One Piece version of Gilgamesh & Enkidu's fight! And just to be clear, I am not referring the ones from Fate Grand Order, but rather the Ancient Babylonian figures they were based on. 3. When Sanji learned that Bonney was Kuma's daughter, I do wonder what his reaction was.

The last time i was really shocked while reading a chapter, was when kaido cuts off Orochis Head. I was starstrucked and my Mouth dropped for at leats 30 seconds 😂😂😂

This is the chapter I've been waiting for! I knew the straw hats wouldn't get away from egg head easily. It proves the elders aren't weak old men.

My brother who happens to be a huge Grateful Dead fan, I showed the panel of Jaygarcia blowing someone’s head up and he says. “Stole his face, literally.” The first time we see a man referencing The Grateful Dead do anything he literally steals a Marines face, the Grateful Dead’s slogan. This is so fucking genius, I can’t even right now.

All the Gorosei having Yokai powers is awesome! But I hope they have something _above_ a devil fruit. No idea what you would call it. And of course, it was the Gorosei who ordered Kuma's personality wiped. It was likely Saturn himself.

So Saturn has an Akuma Akuma no mi model Ushi-oni or the Yokai Yokai Moddel Ushi-oni. Wonder if Imu maybe has the Akuma Akuma modle Azathoth. If you go into full horro why not go with the oldest and most powerfull Lovercraftian monster?

I'm actually one of the people that never saw the elders as anything powerful because of their designs, but man saturn looks incredible. It's almost like how moria was a raid boss but this time the boss is actually competent.

the part with bonney. the fan translation calls it NDE ( Near Death Experience) what if its the life flashing in your vision and you just see yourself as that skeleton. and that trauma or shock of that "experience" defeats the person. thats my theory :D

I find it almost criminal that we didn't mention two other new Devil fruits introduced in this chapter. those two devil fruits being the ride ride fruit and the unnamed otters Zoan

I like the idea that Bonney will try to age St. Saturn up just to see that nothing is happening. Gorosei are as old as the Void century and do not age at all.

I like the reasoning that Bonney feels so trapped here because she knew that her enemy, the Gorosei and Saturn in particular, are immortal or cannot be affected by age, so she has a natural power disadvantage. So in her rage and her feeling of being trapped, she desperately went to stab him with a physical blow.

I love how this chapter brought legit eldrich horror to One Piece.

Usually im so hype about new chapters and I carry a general hype vibe but as soon as I saw him command the Pacifista, I became real quiet.

Something to mention is that one of the marines in this chapter after being hit with Bonnies NDE is that he saw the River Styx or the Sanzu River, the River Styx is one of the rivers of the Greek underworld same thing with the Sanzu river. I find it interesting how death is slowly becoming a part of the story too and with a certain King of hell roaming around I wonder if we are going to see more entity like situations like the reaper on Wano.
