Jup this is legit a Porsche, its based on the Volkswagen T3, but it’s a real Porsche. Let me explain.
The T3 was Sold worldwide under various nameplates including Transporter, Caravelle, Microbus, and Vanagon, it was the third iteration of the iconic multipurpose van range that Volkswagen officially designated the Type 2. The type 2 T3 was introduced in 1979 and was a complete redesign of the type 2 range. Now the T3 followed in the footsteps of the previous generations and quickly became known as a versatile workhorse.
Now many of us know the T3 specifically as this a workhorse, but now many of us know that Porsche them selves took the t3 and made something special out of it. This is the Porsche B32. Never heard of it? Well That’s because only 15 examples were ever made (including prototypes) between 1983 and 1985. But why? Well back in the 80s Porsche was developing the 953, a comprehensively-modified, all-wheel-drive version of the 911 meant for Group B rally racing. This prototype dubbed 953 never got to compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC), but it went on to win the 1984 Paris-Dakar rally raid, then the 953 evolved into the 959, a car I made an entire video on, not going to go in depth in this video, but lets just say its one of the coolest cars Porsche has ever made. And that’s where the B32 comes in, you see Porsche needed a fast enough support vehicle to keep up during its Paris to Dakar rally campaign with its Group B 959 race car.
