Something I have witnessed in a family context, is the INFJ ability to find an alternative framework, or completely different framework that I would never ever come up with, that satisfies the multitude of narratives and needs/conditions connected to those narratives. When presented, everyone feels satisfied. It’s as if there is an ability to weave or spin a solution or narrative that includes and considers a multitude of different mental perspectives. I think it is pretty amazing when I see it. I don’t know if it a common INFJ ability, but it’s super cool. It’s like finding the center of a very complex Venn diagram.

This is so accurate! I’ve always called it spinning a web! It feels like I take a step back and see the connections coinciding, then they converge to one main idea

We definitely NEED MORE TIME! To percolate, I call it. I also refer to the perspective/perceptual shift as a pivot. Pivot is my favorite word to describe a paramount solution... an outside the box solution. I get that a lot.

Wonderful video... I am an INFJ, working as an academic researcher in microelectronics engineering. As you speak, I got flashbacks of all the problems I have solved in my short academic career. All of them relied on this perceptual shift. All of them took me more time than expected by my supervisor. And until I could reach this perceptual shift, I have extreme difficulty communicating my progress to the supervisor. Simply because there is no tangible thing to communicate (In contrast to INTJs Te that enables them to communicate something in such situation)... This has led to many misunderstandings.. When the pericptual shift happens, it feels like revelation. It feels like I discovered the "only truth" to solve the problem at hand. My academic career is progressing slower compared to my peers. But let's see how things go in the future.

I'm also confused about what causes personality types? Is it a nature or nurture type of thing? I'm so different than anyone else in my family or origin and extended family...but my daughter did the test the same time as me and we are both INFJ's. So maybe it is familial? The other layer is I was diagnosed as an adult with adhd, again no familial history. We speculate it's because I got stuck in the birth canal and was birthed C-section with a large hematoma. My Infj-ness presents a bit differently than my daughter's, I'm not reserved or shy but introverted in the sense that I get exhausted around people...but also love people. I'm loud and get quite excited...I'm a fairly open book and often find myself sharing experiences to connect to people around me. But at the core of me is an optimism that we can have a positive impact on the worth around us. I feel a primal duty to improve my surroundings...I just can't shake it, and its exhilarating and exhausting! See a problem, solve a problem

Is this why I can see both parties point of view (if they are well intentioned) and quickly find middle ground? In local government, I'm always connecting with the emotions behind the point of view. The emotions are often very similar on both sides...they are just misidentifying the cause. Its so frustratingly obvious to me...I often have a hard time believing no one else sees it!

Now that I think about it, yeah I can definitely relate :o Although in a more interpersonal/social sense. For example a friend would come to me with a situation they had and them being frustrated with it's outcome, I'd almost immediately spot an incomplete perception of the situation and what led to it and the possible sequence of events that led to such an action. In a work environment I tend to really gravitate towards problem uprooting, that is, trying to find the core essence or core problem. I don't think that's the same though :0 Nonetheless, A nice perspective, as always :)

Very interesting idea, that surely all Ni dom know, that needed to put words on it. Ni perceiving many layers. That ability to "zoom in" and "zoom out" at the extreme is amazing, something more inside (root/core), or something more outside. (From quarks to the Universe scale at the extreme to give an image) _Zoom in at the extreme : Most seeing or thinking the problem at the surface, whereas it can be in the depth : at the roots, or deeper than the depth : at the core, essence or even deeper : a particle or DNA/genes level/scale for example _Zoom out at the extreme : or totally outside, unrelated directly to the thing Example of where the problem could be : Surface : It's like trying to mask spots on the face with makeup, or try tons of products to remove the spots which always come back. Root : could be stress, anxiety, allergy Core/essence : And deeper, the real cause, essence : the Neurodivergence, different functioning, hypersensitivity, or stress due to the lower cognitive functions. Maybe related DNA/genes. Outside : the problem just could be the acid rain/weather Or the combination of both hypersensitivity/dna and acid weather. Like all other introverted functions Ni need time, and I think more time than any other function, cause it need calm, no sensory distractions, not always easy to be in this environment "Ni friendly". Defragmentation, organize info take time.

I have that! Lol. A thought- is this also called The Frame Problem? I think it might be the same thing. Thanks to Jordan Peterson for one of his classes where he talks about the frame problem.
