I forget how learning to drive is so hard. I think all my cycling helped me a lot, and I’d recommend it to anyone learning to drive. A very cheap way of getting to know roads and junctions.
Lane markings don't help sometimes unfortunately. Some lanes suddenly split into 2 lanes like Redbridge roundabout. I've had my license 6 years but roundabouts I feel aren't always marked safely/clearly by the government
part of the reason why this is confusing to some people watching is because this video does not clearly show where the left turn lane is on the roundabout and how it drops off. it only shows the lane on the dual carriageway
I failed my first test (many moons ago) for supposedly crossing lanes on a roundabout making it confusing for other drivers! The difference being there was absolutely zero road markings! 😢thought it was a bit harsh at the time.
Very easy to see why driver thought that blue van was moving into his lane, given that van did not follow the car in front, there are no lane markings to provide guidance, and the critical clue that the road marking provides is blocked from view by the van.
Alright so, when entering the roundabout the far left lane was a left turn only, middle and right were able to go ahead. After entering the roundabout in a mid lane check your left mirror and move over to the far left lane of the roundabout once passing the first exit. The reason the other car drove infront of the learner is because he expected the learner to move to the left and allow him to get in the lane the learner was in safely.
That's so confusing though. The floor arrows in the left lane show a left turn only which I always thought is for the first exit, so if you are taking the second exit would you not automatically stay in the middle lane as per the markings showing straight ahead. The lanes do split after the first exit which I think make roundabouts so much more difficult and prone to accidents because people are never sure or in the correct position
Thank you so much Prof. Amman for reminding this very important situation to be careful. If happen that drivers are thinking about job, burdens and it’s really part of our life to make a mistake unintentionally. Dad reminds me all very important matter for the safe of all once I am on my way before I left garage. I miss him so much every day since 1999😢.
I would not describe this as a roundabout as a roundabout should be free flowing but this junction has multiple traffic lights on it preventing the free flow of traffic. Therefore it’s a traffic light junction.
