If Trish had one goal in exploring Alaska, it was to see a bear eat a salmon. That goal was far exceeded in this episode through an unforgettable experience with Talon Air Service out of Soldotna, AK. From the flight over Kenai, bear viewing, soaring eagles to catching Sockeye salmon and seeing a glacier on the ride back…this should be on everyone’s Alaska itinerary. www.talonair.com
You’ve likely heard of Alaska Dip netting. It’s a tradition that started in 2003 at the Cook Inlet just off the mouth of the Kenai River. Dip Netting takes place from June to July during the Salmon run and is only available to Alaskian residents. However just observing dip netting is entertaining and a fun experience. We were lucky to have received a salmon as a thank you from a dip netter for keeping on eye out for the seagulls.

What an epic day!! Love watching the salmon in October in the Shuswap area of BC as they finally make it to their spawning locations. It's been a few years since we've seen that so maybe we'll actually get to experience it this year as we launch into full-time RV life!!

OMG, you guys are killing me! We love Alaska and have been 6 - 7 times, but not in the RV. I am so ready to go back. This is exactly the kind of trip we would do with the bear watching and plane ride. We have photographed polar bears in Katovik, grizzlies at Brooks Falls and Admiralty Island, eagles in Haines, tried to photograph the Northern Lights in Fairbanks, but they didn't show up, and stayed in Kenai and Homer. This was an amazing video and I am so glad you are having such great experience. Safe travels!

Easy to have RV Park? I find it easy to just pull over and spend the night without hooking up anything and pulling away in the morning....till dumping or water is needed in the rig.

The planes you flew on were VERY SPECIAL, DeHavelland(as in the famous movie star, Olivia DeHavelland.) Her brother owned and designed this plane from scratch. Let's say around WWII. They were all hand made and the safest plane to fly.

Oh, darn, another absolutely stunning video from KYD. I am impressed with Kaleb's continued growth and maturity on this trip. I mean, getting him to take full responsibility for your backing into the awning is just one indicator. Living in Wyoming for 40-some years gave me an insight into the mindset of its residents. Alaskans appear much the same; no one lives in Alaska because they have to, they live in Alaska because they want to. Having the mind and heart operating in unison is the key.
