My goodness...Were going back to 1974 where I was a 20-year-old sophomore in college. This was the early days of disco music, and this song was playing everywhere and in every continent. What a time it was to be young and free and have music like this to get down with. Now I'm a 68-year-old senior citizen watching others enjoy and react to the music of our youth. Awesome!
I love this. This has been one of my favorite songs that just makes me move. I have to rock side to side when watching it. I"m 53 and I remember this. You can't NOT move to this classic.
So great watching your excitement reaction to this song. #1 in 1974. Always makes me happy to hear this song. Other songs that you reacted to from this time period that were happy upbeat songs, Shame, Shame, Shame, Rock Your Baby. The 70's was the best era for all kinds of music.
That side-to-side dance step is _so_ 70's. You'd see it all over. There were still trends of specific dance steps in the 70's, the Hustle being the really big one. That's a song you really should react to if you want to get the feel of the decade. (LOL, I remember a friend of my mom's calling that one "Orwellian" after seeing a whole roomful of dancers doing it in step. I just thought it was fun!)
Love love your expressions. They bring a smile to my face always. You get me every time. This song was considered a earlier disco song in 1974. I remember hearing it on the radio when I was in HS. It's a great song. Have a bless day you two ♥
Such a great tune! My mom used to play this a lot when I was really little! She even has a cassette tape somewhere, of me singing all these old songs from when I was like 3 yrs old! I just turned 50 a few days ago and this music brings such nostalgia to me!🥰🥰🥰
I loved this song. The jumpsuit she is wearing has come full circle. The bodice halter top, palazzo legged pant is 🔥🔥🔥!!!! The dance moves they were doing was how we “Rocked the Boat”, in Philly, back in the early ‘70’s.
I love this song. Music was so fun in the 70s. You could understand the lyrics. Shawn and Mel, I love all your reactions to all the music that you play. Keep up the good work and God Bless You both.
Disco was a celebration of the end of the Vietnam War, and this was one of the earliest disco hits. I remember the confusion between this song and 'Rock Your Baby' by George McCrae, because both of these dance hits topped the charts around the same time. Great memories!
I love this song . What I remember from back then was their performing on a show and finding the female singer’s name is Hubert Ann , I never forgotten it.
Love this song!! Listen I’m grateful that I had the opportunity to grow up during this time when music was amazing and 70s 80s yacht rock was a big deal! I know that this is a disco song but you know what it’s also a yacht rock song
Cool! I've heard this song countless times since the mid 70s - it's even on a few 70s compilation albums/cds I've got - but this is the first time I've seen a video for it. Yay for youtube and you guys for picking it to react to.
I got to see Hues Corporation in concert when they opened for The Fifth Dimension. It was a very high energy show and if you haven't had the chance to react to the Fifth Dimension, please give them a try.
I remember my mom had this song on 45 record, I loved this song. I miss the old record players where you had to put a quarter on the needle to keep it from skipping ☺️☺️☺️☺️ good old days.
we used to hear that song many times in 1974 in our Motorola Console great memories with this great song climbing to number 1 on american top 40 with Casey Kasem on KRIO in Mc Allen Texas.
This song brought back all kinds of feelings of nostalgia. Good and bad. I was an abused child so weird how those feelings mixed with the good but in the end,, the good wins out every time,, thanks to Yah.. Have never seen the video which was a great distraction for the bad. Weird. Your reaction was so much fun too. Thanks for taking time out of your day to react to a part of my days.
Brings back those memories of Roller Rink days, All girl speed skate; All girl speed skate, keep it clean ladies …..me and besties would fly on those skates, thanks for bringing back those wonderful memories 🥰
My first time seeing this group on a video. Been listening to and loving the song since the 70s! Did you know they were featured in the 70s movie Blacula? I had been watching that movie for years and never realized that the singing trio featured in one of the nightclub scenes was the Hues Corporation! They had a different lead singer by then. Flemming Williams was the lead on this song. He was really good! Rock The Boat was their biggest hit. Great group for sure! Oldie but Goodie
It is like there are two melodies in duet- one by hues Corp and another by the genius bassist James Jamerson from motown's Funk Brothers studio band. James made that song, arguably the first disco song.
The members of the band were not related. The band's name was a play on the actual Howard Hughes Corporation.........the band actually wanted their name to be The Children of Howard Hughes, which the record label rejected.
Loved this song, I was either 15 or 16 when this song first come out!! Loved it then, love it now!! Thanks for both of your dedication to bringing us great 🎶🎶🎶🎶 can you please react to the artist: ((CHRISTOPHER CROSS?)) the song::((SAIL AWAY))❤️❤️❤️

They're saying I Like To Know Where You Got the Notion To Rock The Bock The Boat? Don't Rock The Boat Don't Tip The Board Over. So when you're out on the ocean and the waves are calm, don't start making waves and cause the boat to start rocking 'cause you are putting yourself and everyone else in danger. Rocking the boat is causing problem in your relation. Rocking the boat is not a good thing.
