OH MY GOD YOU'RE PLAYING HOLLOW KNIGHT!!! This is my favourite game of all time, I'm so excited to watch you play through it! Some helpful, non-spoiler tips for you; I haven't watched through the entire video yet, but I'll point these out regardless: - Always exhaust characters' dialogue, you might get some neat lore or learn something about those characters. - You're able to attack down while in mid-air, which lets you "pogo" off of enemies or hazardous surfaces like spikes. This is paramount for later locations. - Saving grubs (the little green worm dudes) is the only way to get certain upgrade materials, so save any you see. - This game functions a lot like Dark Souls, in that you lose your money if you die and have to get it back. You also lose a bit of your maximum Soul (magic) usage for healing. If you die again, all of your money is lost, so be careful. - Benches, your bonfires of this game, come in all different shapes and sizes across your adventure. Keep an eye out for them. - Try and equip a charm that exceeds over your charm limit and see what happens. It will take a few repeated tries, but you'll know you're doing something right when you see a purple charm notch. Really excited for this series, I hope you enjoy the game!

I've been recommending this game for months! So glad you finally got around to it. It's not often I describe games as magical but this game is something truly special. The atmosphere, the gameplay (which starts of a little janky but gets REALLY good when you get some upgrades), the story told through cryptic dialogue and environmental storytelling, the tragic and macabre themes interspersed with moments of cutesy wholesomeness. Man, you're in for something special. I would give a lot to be able to relive my first experience of this game. I can't do that so the next best thing is to experience it, by proxy, through my favorite let's play RU-vidr. Enjoy bro!

This is SO great! In terms of lore and atmosphere, this game is like a 2D soulslike and it’s sequel is (hopefully) coming soon this year so you picked the perfect time. And while this came was not made by Fromsoft, Dark Souls was one of its many influences. You’ll see it as you play.

I was SO EXCITED when I saw you were starting Hollow Knight! Trust me, dude, you'll wanna play the rest of this. It is actually unreal how good this game is. Top 3 game of all time for me It has no relation to Dark Souls in terms of the studios that made it, but it has some similarities, which is why people probably rec'd it to you: -The storytelling style is similar. There aren't many "items" in this game per se, but the bestiary of monsters you defeat (you'll get it later) has entries that include tidbits of lore about the world that you can piece together, as well as some things you'll find around the world that clue you into the story -A lot of the challenge of the game comes from learning enemy patterns and how to properly dodge them. And yes, it does get quite challenging -The death system is almost identical. When you die, you lose all your Geo (money) and you have to go back to the place you died to retrieve your money -Benches are bonfires :P -There aren't quiiite "illusory walls" per se, but you may just stumble across some secret areas :) -The whole vibe of the game has a somber, melancholy tone, especially in locations like this first one If you continue, I cannot wait for more! And even if you don't record a full playthrough, I really hope you finish it on your own time

Please keep going. I played this recently as not much of a gamer and got obsessed with it. Pretty entertaining to hear you call it a "little game", I thought that too when I started playing it but the map and amount of adventure in Hollow Knight is huge.

Hollow Knight is up there with Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 for me as one of the best experiences ever in gaming. And I played all three of them in the same year! 2021 was wild. This game is so damn beautiful, and the feels and lore is just as crazy as souls games. Also, you'll probably wanna thoroughly explore every area, cause there's always bound to be something.

You have to really look for lore-that being said, don’t let anyone else dictate your playthrough! Take your time and enjoy exploring the world. I hope you continue, if not on the channel at least for your own enjoyment. 😊

Spend your Geo when you can, don't hoard it. Buy the Quill, buy the charms that show your location on the map (greatly reduces stress for a new player) and the one that collects the geo for you.
