That guitar was a 70’s Les Paul. There’s actually a video on RU-vid poster by the shop that owns it- they document it really well. And yes it is burned very badly in the neck pickup route.

Im shocked you didn't talk about the Jerry Garcia modded amp up for sale. Its a Fender Princeton modded by Owsley Stanley, who not only was the Grateful Dead's sound guy, but he also made acid for all the big rock stars of the day. Hendrix even pays homage to him on his version of Daytripper.
Paul only used those models for smashing…he said so himself in one of his books, and actually said that before the Love Gun era, he’d call up Gibson, have them send him some of those guitars and he’d take some to a local guitar store to sell for extra money until the next tour.

I think that this entire auction site is a scam! It would be a great way to make one big hit and run. Set up an entire auction. Take all the money. Send out nothing or a bunch of chibson guitars and then close up the site and run! Be careful folks!
I don't value "played by (pick a name)" guitars any higher whatsoever. I remember Bruce Kulick telling a story that Vinnie Vincent used to go to guitar stores before shows and buy cheap guitars and then diddle on them for like 20 seconds at the meet and greets and sell the guitars to fans for thousands! I have a Les Paul Studio diddled on for 30 seconds by Zakk Wylde at some army meet and greet in 2010. I've never met anyone (including my luthier) that thinks this adds a cent to the value. More mojo? Sure! Price? Not even slightly.
I want to throw that "Ace" guitar off of a waterfall. What a POS. Yes, that Jackson Rhoads is one of the two guitars that was commissioned by Randy for Grover and/or Mike Shannon to build AFTER Randy signed off on the design of the black and gold Jackson. So this white with gold would've been delivered to Randy as #3 or #4, (the other was routed for a Charvel trem) but obviously never was. No, he never did play that white and gold guitar "And the middle position, just for fun..."
Legit or not, it makes sense that the 'Paul Stanley' guitar was signed in the neck area, as black sharpie would've not been visible on the other, black areas! 😉 And I noticed that guitar was strung for a leftie, which also explains the extra cut-away 🙂
In 77. I got a Paul Stanley Marauder. He sawed the neck a half inch behind the heel..He couldnt break it so he just handed to me. Oh I gave to my Girlfriend Ima Fool!!!!!!

2nd (black) was accidentally made by Mike Shannon with the neck too thin. There are numerous pictures of him playing it from December 1981 to March 1982. Randy asked them to make the 3rd with a neck as thick as his Les Paul, just like the Concorde (#1), but it wasn’t finished until after he died. Production models were never made with the thick neck that Randy preferred.
First of all... KISS didn't play a gig on 4/28/77. According to "KISS Alive Forever: The Complete Touring History" they played a gig on 4/4/77 @ Budokan and 7/8/77 in Nova Scotia. Second... the Ace Les Paul screams fake. Look at where the tailpiece is mounted in relation to the one Ace is actually holding. Third... the V-shaped tailpiece on that RR is all kinds of crooked. The backstory about Randy never receiving the black model because of his death is entirely false because there are photos of him playing it next to the Ken Sandoval V and the Jackson Concorde. But hey, caveat emptor.
the lost randy rhoads has been listed for months and hasn't moved but its also listed on reverb for $150k so the auction doesn't even matter. its not going to get higher than $147k even if thats a real bid
I can't speak for the other guitars, but the Jackson Rhoads is legit. Guitar Max made a couple of videos about it, and he even interviewed the current owner.
Weird that Paul Stanley has a strap knob on the lower horn to play left-handed. It seems like the the same guy who modified that other Marauder got a hold of this one.
Trogly-the Paul Stanley Gibson was what he used to smash live, and they were factory seconds that Gibson sold to Kiss for $65 each. He DID use them a little live when Kiss first signed with Gibson, but by 77 he wasn’t playing them at all. And I’m not sure that he signed and dated them back then. Ima huge Kiss fan and honestly…I think it’s scam. Someone has one of those guitars and is trying to pass it off as Paul’s.
Paul’s guitars were being stolen all the time, his firebird, all his flying Vs and even his explorers were eventually all stolen on tour as well as tons of Kiss gear. Paul is know for using sloppy guitars on Love Gun, hear the demos and you will realize he did use very low end guitars, specially Gibsons and Ibanez guitars. Once Love Gun was finished he moved from Gibson to Ibanez and used them ever after until The Elder when they had their own luthier making them guitars exclusively for them. You can hear the guitar tone difference from Rock And Roll Over or from Dynasty to Love Gun.
@@petera.michaelsen4657 actually, Eddie Kramer has gone on record as saying that, when he recorded Kiss, Paul tended to play Fender Stats and Ace Les Pauls (with Fender amps!). They did this purposely to clearly define the two sounds from each other-this and panning the guitars into different speakers (L/R).
@@glengamble526 Ace also used a Telecaster to double track his parts. I use that trick as well when I record (I'll track left/right channels on my Les Paul or Explorer, then have my Tele lower in the mix in the center to fill out the frequencies).
As an old timer, who looked at 1968 gold tops in 1968, the price estimate floors me. I believe these were $395 brand spankin' new. The black custom - fretless wonders- were a whooping $545...If only I had known....
I did buy one in 68 from Werleins Music in New Orleans - except for a few sessions back in the early 70s it's been in the case - if I read the serial # correctly it's a December 68 - I get it out every now and then and have fresh strings put on it - I love having it in the family!!

Bought a 67 SG Standard with factory Maestro and case back in 1973/4 for £175 and sold it around 1977/8 for £225! Thought I did well till I saw the prices they ask for similar these days! 😢

Old video I know, but seeing those V2 models of V's and Explorers always makes it sooo clear how hard it is to find a new guitar shape that doesn't 3000% suck (and how outrageously right they were back in the 50s)
That the Ace Fehley Les Paul is a fake "Chibson" is also easy to tell by the placement of the knobs in relation to the tailpiece... with the neck volume knob positioned *higher* than the tailpiece! It must sit slightly *below* the tailpiece for being a real Gibson.
That Gibson it's definitely a chibson. The seller whoever that may be should be in a lot of trouble for that. Because he or she knows darn well that is not a Gibson guitar.
The original Ace Frehley prototype, according to the guy that built it, had gold hardware on the Cherryburst Custom and Ace hated it. He only wanted chrome hardware...lol
$250 for a frickin' tweed case? Yuck. You can get a hardshell rifle case that a les paul fits in for like $90. 8:48 great centering Gibson! That's why they have CNC's make them now.

It's illegal to sell a Chibson in the U.S. I have one, I love it, it's a masterpiece, not the norm, and I will never sell it; only mod it, which you never do with a real one.

They guy was honest, he told me he actually bought it on a trip to China and was offering it as a Chibson. I still love it tho, plays nice when playing some KISS.
Yeah, the price on that Jackson is stupid since it wasn't even FINISHED before Randy died but... it's Spec from Randy himself. How many guitars like that exist?
That Jackson 3rd prototype is a massive part of Jackson’s history. Those early Custom shop guitars rival any Gibson. Jackson makes great guitars for good price and they’re almost carrying Fender at this point.
Maybe the guy took the screws out of the tuners with a power screwdriver. And maybe when he put them back in again he stripped the holes. Also why pay $35,000 for a guitar that was probably the worst sounding in a rock star's collection? People, just buy a brand new guitar. It will have a straight neck, pristine frets, and a brand new fretboard. Last but not least it will come with a warranty.
These Gibson knock-offs are pretty scary these days (not just the ones you're highlighting but speaking in general.) It's a good reminder to stick to reputable guitar shops when making an important investment in a guitar.
Man.. I've seen some convincing fakes on rare occasions but that thing couldn't even pass for an Epiphone if I had 10 drinks and someone laced one with some Cosby juice. The 3 dollar bill of Ace Frehleys..
Did you see the supposed letter with the blueburst guitar? It uses a couple different fonts in like five different sizes. The whole thing seems murky to me.
For sure the 2010-2013 "Studio" Tributes are best kept secrets. For a steal I recently picked up a 2013 50s Tribute, with pretty vintage sunburst, walnut back and vintage gloss (not satin) where the P-90s were replaced with the 2015 LP Deluxe Dual blade minihumbuckers (Al5, 17k/26k), that no one likes. Sure they're not your fathers Firebird minis or pole piece minis but don't sell them short these are awesome pickups. Ordered some coil splits for them.

Yeah, Paul was deep into his vintage collecting at the time and had a '59 Les Paul among many others (I believe a 50's V, etc.) so he certainly wouldn't be using that guitar for anything but smashing, lol.

@@auntjenifer7774 It is how math works. Yes, the fee gets larger as the sale price goes up. But it does so proportionally relative to the sale price....going above $1k wouldn't suddenly turn a previously profitable sale into a loss, because the price is going up at the same rate as the fee. That's literally the mathematical definition of a percentage. Put another way, if it's a loss due to the fees above $1k, it would have been a loss at $900 as well. I get that people don't like increased fees, but these aren't tiered tax brackets...it's a simple, straight percentage.
I tell you man. My Epiphone LesPaul Special I and DR-212 12 string acoustic. Set up perfectly are unplayable. Neck is horrible, I don’t know what it is, but immediately on both my fretting thunb bruises and my hand goes numb. I can’t say if it was because of my shoulder and arm break. Or if it is just a junk neck. My thumb is still bruised.
