Horses are fastidious - is a song by Vladimir Vysotsky, a Russian poet and singer, written in early 1972. The hero of the song drives the horses over the cliff, but, anticipating his own imminent death, begs them not to ride so fast that the last journey will last at least a little longer. Although the song describes a rapid leap, it is written at a slow pace, unusually long for Vysotsky's work verses. Vysotsky's performance of the song is very energetically powerful and many singers do not dare to sing this song. But not Diana...she performed the song wonderfully sensually, lived it and the goosebumps on her body are proof of this... I can't listen to her performance without trembling in my body, judging by the comments, I'm not the only one.
I think you should listen to Diana's song Blizzard (Вьюга - in Russian). This song is also from the TV show "You are super!". The effect of her voice there is like a winter snowstorm...for example, in Russia😂.
@@kwgrid it's a metaphor. life at the limit of possibilities. like riding on the edge of a cliff, when any mistake will bring you down to the bottom. and you can't stop, because life can't be put on pause. this song by Vysotsky has a very deep meaning and is somewhat autobiographical, so the words were heard about whether Diana had grown up to such a song. to simplify it very much, horses are time, that carries us to the final.
This song is an allegory.Horses-life,cliff-death,whip-passions,desires.The man drives the horses to the cliff by whipping them with a whip and at the same time asks them to go slower. The great Russian poet and actor Vladimir Vysotsky has died at the age of 42.
Her ability, or rather gift, because it can't be just learned, to live a song makes Diana one of the greatest performers in the world today. The moment she start sang, she really stood on the edge and she understand it. She even changed in appearance. My admiration!!!
I would argue that when all aspects of performing are taken into account there is no-one better. Might be a better singer somewhere or a better presence or story teller but I don't think anyone combines them all so completely or with such soul and conviction. Just my opinion.
I think you might have guessed that "horses" in this case is a strong poetic image, a metaphor meaning the inexorableness of time and passions that burn a person. The song is performed on behalf of a person who feels the approach of death, but wants to extend life at least a little. The song, of course, has nothing to do with horses.
or it is a metaphor for her management which wants her to take a direction she is not ready for or does not want to take, Russian lyrics often are so complex ( Dostojevsky)

Thanks for your reaction. Vladimir Vysotsky is a cult actor, bard, author of poems and songs. But he had problems with alcohol and drugs. He understood that he "quickly drives" his life, "the horses carry him and do not listen to the whip." Very deep text. Diana is a brave girl who dared to fulfill her. She could be reproached that this is a male text, that she is still young to sing such a text. But she did just fine. Now this is one of the best female performances.
The first time I watched this, I didn't have the captions on and I was sobbing by the end. She perfectly expressed her interpretation and emotions. I went back later and watched again with captions, after it was over I just brokedown for at least an hour. This song really tugs at the heart and soul, and reminds me to slow down and really enjoy life.
The song is by Vladimir Vysotsky , it is not about horses , It is about Near Death and trying to live a little longer , he died at the age of 42 , This is a difficult song to sing and Diana is the first FEMALE to sing the song . A very Famous Russian song .
No, this is not the first female performance. I know at least four women who performed this song, but only Diana managed to fully convey the meaning and emotions of this song (in my opinion).
Great performance of the song by Diana! In my opinion, this is the best performance of Vysotsky's song! It just takes your breath away and tears come! Great positive reaction! The author of the reaction perfectly imbued with the spirit and emotionality of this song! Diana - bravo, and for the reaction - like! Subscription!
Dear Johnny, In the repertoire of Lara Fabian and Diana Ankudinova there is a song that they sang. This song was written by Igor Krutoy, you know him from various videos and shows. And this song is called "Tomorrow is a Lie". Both singers are simply incredible Actresses and each in their own way is an energetically strong personality. But in my opinion, you should listen to Fabian first, and only then Ankudinovy...you won't hear Fabian in reverse. So I recommend listening to both girls and react ☀️
Vladimir Vysotsky was a very talented poet, singer, and actor. You can compare him to Bob Dylan. He was a member of the opposition. His life was not easy, he drank and took drugs. But he wrote brilliant songs. This song was, in my opinion, recorded 8 years before his death, after clinical death. This song is about a life that passes very quickly.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to translate this text with all the nuances, the Russian language is very variable, and the meaning of the work is lost when translating . Rushing to death horses-represent the fate of the rebellious poet-his soul... The soul of Vladimir Vysotsky. Here you need a native Russian translator.
Fastidious Horses. O'er a sheer drop, up against the void, along the very border, I am lashing wayward horses with a horsewhip, urging on them: Getting somehow out of air, gulping wind and gobbling fog, I’m Sensing in a fatal rapture: I'm a goner, I'm a goner! Do slow down a little, horses! Do slow down just a bit! Don't obey a taut whip! Beg you, don't! Yet that the horses should have fallen so unruly to me - Short of time to live up, coming short with the song... I will water my steeds, I will finish the song, I will stand just a bit At the back of beyond... Should I die, a gale will sweep me off the hand flat like a feather, And the sleigh will take me, racing by the snowfield at the daybreak. Don’t you tear along, my horses, change to an unhurried canter! Just a little but prolong the journey to the final haven! Do slow down a little, horses! Do slow down just a bit! Heed you neither a whip, nor a thong. Yet that the horses should have fallen so unruly to me, Short of time to live up, coming short with the song... I will water my steeds, I will finish the song, I will stand just a bit At the back of beyond... We're on time: you’re never late to pay a visit to the Savior; Then why are angels chanting up there with dispraising, angry yelling? If it is a harness bell that’s choking in a bitter wailing? If it’s I who’s urging horses so they quit this headlong sleighing? Do slow down a little, horses! Do slow down just a bit! I beseech you to not fly headlong! Yet that the horses should have fallen so unruly to me, Once there's no time to live, at least to finish the song... I will water my steeds, I will finish the song, I will stand just a bit At the back of beyond...

If you haven't reviewed The River(Rechenka) which is an old Russian song then watch how Diana much power and drama in it is A # 1..I read that when her adoptive mother and her moved away they found a place 100's of miles away from her birth mother and the Orphanage either her new mom or family had performed on the stage and taught Diana..Also her singing Derniere Danse..Wonderful!

The cult song "Horses" for Russian culture by the legendary Vladimir Vysotsky - poet, composer, writer, actor, popular favorite, nonconformist, bright and contradictory personality. You should not be surprised that Diana's entourage felt that she may not have yet grown to the level of this song, because many after Vysotsky try to sing his songs, but no one came close in terms of the level of expression and emotionality of presentation. Nobody before Diana! Vysotsky wrote this song almost fifty years ago, in 1972, 8 years before his own death. In this song he shows his view of his own disposition of his life. He understands that he is doing everything to bring his own demise closer (alcoholism, a little later drugs), but he does not want to die so early, he cries for help (turning to horses does not run so fast), but does everything to speed up his the end (he whips his horses, he himself directs them to the cliff). He calls his horses fastidious, disobedient, capricious, for they personify Vysotsky's pernicious passions, which he is unable to curb. Vladimir Vysotsky died in 1980 at the age of only 42. His big heart could not bear the load. He almost halving his life.
The fact that a 17 year old girl can internalize such a mature song and share it's affect on her in front of a live audience is just amazing. Diana is an old soul and feels much deeper than her years.
This is a little compilation of previous comments on this piece --- Horses are an allegory. This song speaks about the transience of life, about the crazy rhythm in which a person lives. The author asks the horses, which are carrying him through life to the end of the path with great speed, to move more slowly. He wants to live a little more, to stand a little more on the edge of life, but the "horses" are capricious and do not want to stop ... The fact is that Vladimir Vysotsky was a brilliant poet, singer and actor. In addition, he was a member of the opposition, so to speak. He hated the system in which he lived, and loved Russia, loved his people. No one could sing Vysotsky before Diana. People tried, but it was very bad. And Yes, he drank, and at the end of his life, he took drugs. He died too soon. We love this singer. And Diana just sang his song, turned her whole soul upside down. So I felt what he was singing about: about the transience of life, about your addiction, that you want to live longer, but you are in a system like the Soviet Union all the time standing on the edge. It is something special for a 17 year old girl to give this level of performance. Please do not miss her best version of " Derniere Danse " done when she was14. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8wkHr6Hvnuk.html
The song for me is a metaphor about the last moments of a person’s life. The carriage’ s horses meticulously do their dutty , carrying him to his death, in spite of the request to slow down so that to enable him to finish his verse before reaching the edge between life and dead. Such an exquisite interpretation of the last desire in one’s life by Diana!!! She is only 17 y.o. for God sake! Great reaction as always!
I've seen a number of translations into English for the title of this piece. I think "Picky" is the worst one yet, lol. I think "Fastidious Horses" seems most apt. I think the horses are symbolic of Time, of one's mortality and impending demise. Thanks for sharing this performance, Diana is indeed brilliant!

When a person understands that in order to achieve the goal, he will have to say goodbye to life, then an internal struggle occurs in the soul of a person. Willpower drives the horses forward, and the instinct of self-preservation asks them to ride slower. The intensity of passion is conveyed by Diana well, but emotionally in the song of Vysotsky, willpower wins, for him the goal is more important than life. And Diana's instinct for self-preservation wins out, she wants to live more.
Holy shlt! You know it's amazing when you don't even know the words but it still makes you want to cry. I looked away from the computer and it took me on a journey. WOW!

You got that song right! Thanks for your reaction! For Russians especially for my generation this song has been a part of our culture for more than 30 years. That 17 years' old girl has performed a miracle! I haven't read English subtitles but one correction. It's not 'why the angels are singing in such loud voices' but 'singing in such angry voices' that's the way it is in Russian.
I do not know how many times, so many, I have Seen this performance and She still pierces my Soul and bring tears to my eyes. I have seen every reaction you have done with Diana more than a few times, your sincerity with Diana is how my my family feels. Thank you from the U.S.A.
