This is crazy, my onions split. This might be why.

Hey everybody, it's been a very interesting year for onions, to say the least. Let me know if this has happened to you or if you have any experience with what happened. Thanks for watching.

Interesting Jon. I am guessing since I really don't know but I think you might be right.🤷‍♂️

I couldn't find a lot of information, but what I did find made me believe that over fertilizing was the problem. I'll figure onions out eventually. Thanks for watching.

Yeah, view it as a learning experience. One day, I'll figure it out, lol. Stuff like this is why we garden. You have a nice day as well. Thanks for watching.

I’ve never had this happen 🤔 once my onions r in the ground they get fertilized once a month with everything else. Organic liquid and granular when planted. Now my bulbs aren’t half as big as I was hoping for and I’m pretty sure I have a solid plan for next year now…. 🤣🤣🤣 there’s always next year

That's what's great about gardeners they never give up. I learned a lot this year about onions, like you said, can't wait till next year. Thanks for watching.

I've had my onions split like the for the last two years (the only years I've grown onions). Last year I didn't fertilize at all and this year, I used a lot of fertilizer. So I can't correlate my splits to over-fertilization. Maybe I overwatered...

Camille, thank you for sharing this information. Any real-life experience is great. My soil is so loose that I didn't think I could over water, but who knows, I did water a lot. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching.

This was my first year growing onions and I got the Stuttgarter from Tractor Supply. Same problem splitting. Most of them had it. Probably shouldn't have used MiracleGro.

I bought mine at Tractor Supply, too. I like the fact that the onions are sold by a veteran owned company. I will try again next year with a little less nitrogen. Thanks for sharing and watching.

Once the onions start bulbing stop nitrogen and put in bone meal.
