This Is CRAZY - The NEW 2023 HEAVENWOOD! When we talk about new golf clubs we often talk about what the best golf clubs of 2023 could be... what is the best driver of 2023, the best irons of 2023? the best forgiving golf clubs of 2023? in this video we take a look at what could be the best forgiving golf club of 2023 for any golfers who want help getting that golf ball airborne off the tee and hitting it closer to the green from distance... the term legendary is banded around far too often in the world of sport but I think its fair to say the Callaway Heavenwood is a legend amongst other golf clubs... in this video we test the new Callaway Paradym Heavenwood to see just if it really is one the best golf clubs of 2023... let's do it... and let's do it now!

James…great content because your bringing attention to a lesser know option for the bag. I game a Callaway Mavrik Max Heaven Wood. I’ve always been a poor fairway wood player; I’m more confident, consistent, and better with a Utility Iron. That being said the Heaven Wood is the exception for me, it has been a great club for just about every situation I encounter on the course. It has proven not only to be the easiest FW for me to hit, but’s it just easy to hit period.

I have the Rogue Heavenwood. It's an absolute beast of a club. Especially good hitting 180/200 yards from the wrong fairway over trees back to the correct fairway or even green.

Keep in mind before you game a Heavenwood - It is longer than a 5 wood, so finding the face is the real key. Will you find it on an uneven lie, or in the rough? I game the Epic one and it goes far enough and airborne, but doesn't have the accuracy of a 19 or so degree hybrid, if you can hit hybrids (the Epic HW is 20 degrees) so I'm on the fence about just using a 3 hybrid instead of it. If I did it again, I think I would buy a 7 wood instead (usually 22 degrees and a little shorter than a 5 wood to find the face more and be more accurate with, at least in theory.

To log a shaft length for me the 3wood! I have a v series heavenwood with 20.5 and a senior shaft, brilliant! I also have v series 5 wood 19 with a senior shaft and goes a bit further!

In the past I have had a Heavenwood which was 20.5 degrees and had a three wood length shaft. i am currently carrying a 16.5 degree three wood and I am testing a 19 degree 5 wood with a shaft the same length as the the three wood. There is only about 5-10 yards difference in length between the two and the 5 wood with the long shaft is easier to hit.

Another thing to call out is the head is 3 wood sized as well. So the 7 wood is a much smaller head with the same loft. The Heavenwood is a 3 wood head size(171 cc vs 145cc) with a 3 wood shaft length and 7 wood loft.

I am an old golf pro. 76 to be exact. I find that I can still move a driver (230 to 240 to be exact). But my epic heavenwood will fly 200 on good days. Got to thinking some time ago why do I need a 3 wood? If you are a senior golfer this club can work for you.

Not only am I old enough to remember the original heavenwood but I'm still playing the 20* and 26* hybrids in my bag today (and 15* x-hot 3w). I do plan to replace the 3 clubs I have between driver and 5i in 2023 so this test is helpful even if I'm more likely to go with Ping or Titleist (I updated Cleveland Launcher driver to TSi2 in 2021 and Callaway x16 irons to i525s in 2022).

I use a V series Big Bertha Heavenwood as well as BB SV 9 and a Steelhead 11. Generally don't carry my 3 wood anymore as can hit the HW easier. Not the best into the wind however.

Bought a well used Heavenwood a couple years ago when the whole 'you need a 7 wood in your bag' discussion started. Was a very fun club to hit. Went far and straight and convinced me to add a 7w to the bag which is still there today.

@Jacob Wilkie Sorry for the confusion. I sold the Heavenwood and bought a 7w. The club was kind of proof of concept that I needed the loft. Found it better than a 4H I used in the past.

@@mikeb1149 Oh. You found yourself a winner with the 7W. I personally don't own a 7W but I think I will very soon. And from what I've heard from fitters, have you considered after the 7W, going to the 5 hybrid next club? I got that advice from a Taylormade fitter.

Was at a Callaway club fitting a week ago looking for the Paradym Driver and a 7 wood. They fitted me for this Heavenwood and I loved how it looked, how it felt and how I hit it. I'm a 40+ handicapper so I would want something with good distance and a high ball flight and I was hitting about 180m (196y) on average with my Paradym Driver going about 200 to maybe 210 if I hit it flush. Going into my bag as my 3 wood for sure (once I pay for it. Prices are insane and I have a baby on the way so... priorities)

That hybrid had the name heavenwood on it but was not the original , those were heavenwood hybrids , before that they had the fairway woods called the heavenwood and it was a 7 wood head with a longer shaft just like this current version , i thot it was 5 wood length but could have been 3 wood , I remember it even being offered with a steel or graphite shaft, infact I believe it was being offered before there was even hybrids so they offered tons of options in fairways 7 , heaven, 9 , 11 &13 woods , Almost before your time James lol and when I was just getting into golf.

I play the Mavrik Max Heavenwood and it’s the best fairway wood I’ve ever played. I had always had difficulties to get the ball airborne with fairway woods, but this one has worked since the first shot. I hit it 165-170 meters.

I have been playing an epic max heavenwood for a couple of years and I love it. I chose it over a 5 wood as I hit it consistently about 10 yards further and it’s descent angle is better coming into greens. I hit it about 200-220 yards so I’m very happy!

@@changwonpark1221 I hit the heavenwood about 10 yards further (off grass in real conditions) and the decent angle is softer so better for landing and staying on greens.

I have a Maverick 7 wood and love it but I find the size of the head makes it difficult to hit out of anything other than a great lie! I am thinking this would also apply to this Heavenwood profile. I prefer a 3 or 5 Hybrid in my bag for such occasions!

I still have 3 and 5 woods Callaway Warbird from many years ago in firm flex. They are still awesome fairway woods. The 3 wood is nearly as long as a driver and way straighter with slight draw and low/moderate ball flight. The 5 wood is towering and slight draw. Think I will put them back into play.

My Callaway Epic Max Heavenwood is a recent addition to the bag replacing a three hybrid. It's easier to hit and has a better flight. Pretty much point and shoot for us 60+ guys. Give one a go and leave your ego in the car park.😀

The heavenwood didn't start with the one pictured. It started with the original Big Bertha line in the 90s. Jim Colbert and Ely Callaway were instrumental in it. He wanted something to launch high and longer than what would be a 7 wood.

I Don't think it would be the club for me although I probably need to try hit it and a 7w to find out but Im looking at ditching woods all together and going, 5iron, 4 hybrid, 2 hybrid, driver, I hit my current 3 hybrid 190-200 carry, very similar to my 5 wood but more consistent, I think with a new g430 2 hybrid I would get 220 carry, the smaller heads on hybrids give me more confidence and the fact I can hit it like an iron as I hit irons better than woods means I'll be more consistent

I've been playing the Epic Heavenwood released in 2017. Its my 190 yard club. Great club, but the Paradym version may be more forgiving based on hitting it at a Golf Galaxy simulator. I'll let you know when I get fitted later this year. By the way, I've also been playing an Epic 9 wood. Its my 180 yard club. Another great club.

I had the Warbird HW, but it was a bust. Too small a head on such a long shaft. Give me the 4 iron. However, this head looks larger. Still, I'd rather have a shorter hybrid for accuracy.

The grandfather of this club is the Original Ginty from 1975, Callaway bought the rights to the design and out came the legendary Callaway Big Bertha Warbird 7 Heavenwood in the 90s. Both have alot of loft and long shafts. 175-200 meters and straight as a wistle. The downside beeing a long shaft with a small head. No idea why you put in a pic of the Heavenwood hybrid that is a whole different story.

Unfortunately I will not be putting this club in my bag. I don't get on with fairway woods. I can and do hit my hybrids well and carry down to a 3 hybrid. The minute I put a fairway wood down I seem to have some sort of a seizure that involves uncontrolled body movement followed by a rapid snap of the the hands and wrist.

I would use it, but I am protesting the high price of equipment, so I am not buying any new clubs. I did buy a high launch 3 wood. 3 wood length and 4 wood loft and lower flex point on shaft.

I think this is the best selling point of the HW my speed isnt slow slow but its not great. I get a good ball flight from a 7 wood but I can't get enough out of a 5 wood to make it worth carrying both. I think the HW would be the best replacement. The only thing is my sft 7 wood is like a cheat club.

when did the change happen that 20 degrees is a heavenwood now. It use to be a 7 wood. 20 degrees was always a 5 wood to me but now they put a 20 degree head with a 7 wood shaft and it's a Heavenwood

The specs for this latest rendition of Heavenwood fairway wood is: 20° loft, 43" shaft and 57° lie angle. So the shaft length is between that of a 3 wood and 5 wood. What appears anomalous is that the lie angle is the same as the 7 wood although the shaft length is longer than the 5 wood, so theoretically too vertical for that length shaft.

It's not legendary because they went away from the Optifit 3 hosel with interchangeable shafts. My Epic Flash Heavenwood can be a 5 wood to a 9 wood with a simple shaft swap.

I normally love your videos, but the lack of research with this video is disappointing. The Heavenwood dates way back to before the hybrid style you referenced. It is also not a new introduction. There has been a Heavenwood in almost every series of Callaway Fairway Woods over the last 10-12 years! Also, I don’t believe you referenced the size of the Heavenwood’s head. They are larger than a 5 wood and in some cases, almost as large as a 3W. I currently play a Mavrik Max Heavenwood and love how forgiving it appears at address.
