i am 15 now and havnt played bf2 in about 2 yrs since 2022. me an my dad watched this video together and were really happy to see and know that there is still an active community playing. we started playing today and were sooo excited to see the amount of players still playing, we got around 12 games to the max amount of people in each one. so we thank you for this vid so very much
As someone who pre ordered this game and stuck with even despite that whole period of zero communication. Watching this game make its come back and the excitement when the clone wars content reviled. It is so annoying to see people not understanding what the game had become. Thank you for being with us from the start Elliot and continuing to show how amazing this game had become. P.s u can always find a game on Xbox the player count seems huge
It was the first multiplayer game I’d played from beta until final update. Quite sad to see it go. I remember playing Scarif when it released during COVID.
My stance wholeheartedly, very well said. Frustrating to see so many misconceptions are still common because people will never see the game for the changes it made, but what it began as.
Battlefront 2 is my current comfort game I play when I'm high. Usually on friday nights and on the weekends I haven't had any issue finding servers and I still really enjoy it. I really hope at some point they make a battlefront 3 because I would be all over that.
As someone who’s been playing Battlefront 2 since launch and been on the whole journey the community was overall very positive. No matter what era of Star Wars is your favorite it felt like everyone could enjoy the game together. It was a great experience. It’s why I will keep playing and hope for a third game. I hate how some seem to not realize all the progress the dev team made.
Those were some very true words. Makes you appreciate the newbies too. Having played Bf2 for hundreds of hours let's you forget how beautiful it is for people to pick up a game and just have fun with it
As someone who played BF2 from the early-access period in 2017 right to the final update, its so sad that people still label BF2 simply as "the microtransaction game" and disregard all the passionate work that DICE put into the game for the next 3 years, including removing MTX before the game even launched. They really transformed the game beyond what we imagined it could be with things like the Geonosis Update, Ewok Hunt, Galactic Supremacy becoming the new main mode and such. We were so lucky to have passionate Star Wars fans leading the dev team (Dennis B., Ben W., Guillaume, CJ, to name a few) and it was so great knowing that every month we could look forward to new Star Wars content for us players to enjoy, made by devs who love what they do. Our "CT when?" has now become "BF3 when?"
Same here. I played from beta till the end. I just got back into the game a few days ago. It makes me sad. I want Battlefront 3 SO bad. People need to start asking/pushing for Battlefront 3.
I play on the Xbox since launch, and I still love this game. It's actually really easy to still find servers, and there are a bunch of low level players. Game is still very alive.
Regarding finding servers, I would say there is a point that should be considered though. I think it's way harder to find matches in EU or other areas than in the US. I can still find matches in EU, but often I wait 10+ minutes for the server to have enough players to even start. And often the matches just run with half the players, which is a bummer too ofc.
Battlefield 2042 still annoys me. They cut support for Battlefront 2 and Battlefield V early to make 2042. Which would’ve been fine if it released in a good state. But it didn’t which makes you wonder what all of the devs they moved were doing. Hurts even more now as we know some of the content we would’ve gotten had Battlefront 2 gone on for longer.
I play on PS5 and while I don't play actively, but I do play it every now and then and have absolutely no issues finding a match for Supremecy and HvV atleast. It's always a full lobby and in the large scale game modes the majority of players are seemingly newcomers or atleast not people like me that have played the game from the very beginning. Telling people that this game is dead is an outright lie and I fully agree that it's harmful for the game to sprrad this kind of misinformation. Anyways I hope the playerbase stays active for some time, because it's really nice to have a game to always return to.
That is very interesting, because I never encountered this notion that the game pushed the Sequels too much. When I saw the title, I thought, you were going to remind people, who ignored the game, because of its terrible release, that MTX are out of the game, because that is a stigma, the game could still not shake off outside of its player base. Thank you for your continuing passion for this wonderful game and one of my personal favorite games.
@@Leinad0001 I get your point and while it is technically true that the MTX were removed on the global launch day, the three days before that were a closed early access period for customers, who pre-ordered and so the first days hax indeed enabled the micro transactions.
I played the BF 2015 Beta when that first launched on my Xbox One, I was hyped as hell. Went through the entire BF 2015 cycle, got to level 100, and it was fun. Same thing with Battlefront 2017, while I am not exactly max level like some other people are, I do have a ton of mods installed. For the PC side of things at least, base Battlefront is awesome, but the modding community just absolutely takes it to a whole new level. The one gripe I have with PC-specific Battlefront, is that hackers are abundant. At least whenever I play, there's always that one guy who has 100+ kills as a default skin, just one-shotting people with the CR-2. Yet, I still play because I love Star Wars. I love the campaign, all the trilogies, the low level players, the story that George Lucas and Disney have crafted over the years. I wouldn't trade it for the world. :)
fun but battlefront 2015 was worst battlefront game and Battlefront 2017 campaign was dogshit and sequel trilogy not great is trash also content around that trilogy is not good
It’s Twitter and to make it worse it’s MODERN DAY Twitter, everything there is posted for rage baiting half the time and the funny thing is that the more stupid it sounds the higher chance it is to get it go viral I’ve been in the community since day one back at e3 2013, we’ve survived for so long and now our games are being slandered by people just fishing for Twitter likes. Funny thing is that if the game was still being continued today I know for a fact there would be a wave on Twitter saying “you know what I’m gonna say it… battlefront 2 is actually still bad”
Im on PS5, I reinstalled the game last week after more than a year not playing it and you get every mode instantly, even starfighter assault! The only iffy one is hero starfighters but I even platinum’d the game and I was missing A BUNCH of trophies from MP…
Unfortunately, i feel that there is some truth in the sequel comment. Sequels is my favorite era in the game but i havent been able to find any sequel supremacy matches in years on PS. People would rather play OT or PT, which is insane to me considering how unbalanced OT is, and furthermore lacking a ship phase. The only people left playing the game at this point are Star Wars fans, and Star Wars fans often dislike the sequels, and that bleeds into what matches we can find.
Well that doesn't mean we got too much sequel content during the live service People may not play it much, but the sequel content that we got is very good
I see comments on discord and youtube too that say bf 2, as well as other SW games, are dead, and i always try to correct them and direct them to good resources to find matches. 5mans does Squadrons, even if bf 1 pc is dead it still has a server for events, and BF 1 console is just a little less active than bf 2 pc. And there are even bf 2005 servers, and Kyber V2 is coming out for bf 2. Star wars gaming is still alive, we just need to spread the word where we can
Star Wars gaming is not dead if played Star Wars games on PC you have so most opportunity with lot of stuff Star Wars content like old/EA Star Wars games swtor mod community from old Star Wars games to non Star Wars games crossover games like Fortnite and Minecraft if played Star Wars games on xbox old Star Wars games and EA Star Wars games crossover games like Fortnite and Minecraft if played Star Wars games on Playstation few old Star Wars games and EA star wars games crossover game like Fortnite and Minecraft I think people play xbox and pc have more Star Wars games stuff than playstation because Sony barely give us backward compatibility for their console compare xbox did for their console
Yeah I agree, when I saw you retweet that I was kinda shocked. Its terribly misinformed and just wrong. I think its ju st easy for people to hate on Battlefront since it got such negative press on launch and there were many people who just didnt bother about checking in on the game after that. If they make SWBF3 or something like it, definitely don't call it that because then tons of people will think they must play the first 2 in order to play that one. Any time there's sequels, the less people stick around with each new thing & the less beginner friendly it is. Goes for games, movies, shows, etc
@BattlefrontUpdates Was an original player on PS4 on launch back in 2017. Tough times had to sell my PS4/games. Out of my collection of 20 I missed this the most. Picked it up for PC during the December sale. Got all purple cards on all my Hero's, Reinforcments, and basic tropps. Still have yet to do vehicles. But for the past month i have been playing Starfighter Assault to be that and coop most enjoyable game modes. I agree with what you said. But on days that aren't double/tripple xp it can be hard to find a full match for star fighter. Also since i returned on PC I can't find and Ewok Hunt matches. But been able to find all the others. I'm glad I got this on PC. Better than consoles. Simple reason MODS. It breathes new life into the game. Whether you swap Obi for Qui Gon or Obi for Mace Windu or Bossk for Jango Fett so much more enjoyable. I'll admit my PC playthru started modded. The modding community is great. I have yet to try some of the bigger mods like BF+ or BF2020, IOA. And I will certianly check out Kyber V2 if it's a better alternative for servers and fill in the empty slots with dice/kyber or Improved IAO Bots which i have yet to explore. I'd certianley like to see EA pick up this title for another update. I'd spend money on a DLC for it. But nonetheless Mods fill the gap maybe not for bonus maps which the game is missing. And I'm not sure if SW BF 1 maps have been ported yet? Oh and lastly picked up the original 2015 SW BF cause it was also on sale but i can't find servers for it for the life of me or active players, can't even play the DLC maps cause DICE/EA never incorporated BOTS to fill the empty slots. It's the most highly requested mod for the 2015 SW BF Bots in all modes so we can play offline too. With Andor s2, Mandolorian s4, Ashoka S2, the Rey Jedi 3 film how she brings back the Jedi Order and the sith are reborn again and Grey Jedi are introduced i think EA would be wise to give us another update or a SWBF3. I was able to obtain the PS5 on new years and the first game I got was Battle Front 2. The game is very much alive and I don't understand why some people say it's dead. I am having no trouble loading into a match and the longest it normally takes to load up into co-op is around a minute which is not bad at all. I suck at aiming since I have not played many shooters but I got to say, the game is a 10/10 for every category. Yes there are some things that I would like more of like Clone Wars content but there is still a good amount of it in the game. Every in supremacy or galactic assault always has at least 20% of people that are new. ( I have yet to play all games modes but I am sure they are all possible to get a match). I really hope that EA will realize their mistake of canceling battle front 2 and make up for it by either A. renewing the game and adding more content. or B. make Battlefront 3. If you have yet to play the game, I fully recommend it. I can't say how big the community is on other closes for battlefront 2 but I am guessing it is still large, expanding and doing well. :D
I have owned the game since it came out on PS4 and i just recently started playing again after a year’s (maybe more😬) hiatus. I’ve been exclusively playing Co-Op and i have been able to get into matches fairly easily since i picked up playing again. Don’t really know about the other modes, but i’ll definitely try them out now. I love the game and the community. I strongly dislike the Sequels, but, after thinking about it, i’ve never really had a problem with the Sequels in the game. The Heroes are actually fun to play, and that’s what matters. I LOVE Clone Troopers, so obviously, i love playing in TCW Era, but OT and ST are both fun too. BF2 is always a good time, and thank you, Elliot, for all that you do!
Got this game about a year ago for like $8 that one complete edition .. I love certain game modes like hero vs villains and the coop rush game mode that has one or two hero’s . Haven’t played it in a while.. so far I enjoy using the blaster characters like Lia and Han. There are sweats that like lvl 200+ and hate ending up matches against them .. that darth sidious glitch still there
Very recently even the PlayStation server for battle front 2 have actually seen a increase in traffic cause I find myself coming across back to back lobbies with level one characters in the game then I do high level players….used to be a constant high level players only but now all I’m seeing are newbies everywhere From time to time i do check the games server traffic and as of about 10 minutes ago from me doing research battlefront 2 on ps went from average of 2500 to 8,000 daily within the last few weeks and this isn’t from peak hours either this is just the “dead” traffic

SWBF Heroes should be the title of the next game & it should be smaller in scale & free to play live service. Also make a seperate game of normal SWBF stuff. Or just make 1 & combine them.

It's very strange, because so many of the obscure Prequel and Original Trilogy characters that are loved, are loved because they're in secondary material like the games and books. The Sequel characters and reinforcements and maps all made me appreciate them more in the movies. I love seeing them in the movie and thinking "ah that's a great spot in battlefront." Sequel haters are just looking for anything to bitch about.
I really miss this game absolutely loved it back in the day and had really high hopes for its future thinking after the Geonosis update it could only get brighter but EA killed it. Really unfortunate that although you can get a game on Xbox it’s ONLY Clone Wars Supremacy no other game mode or era and to make that even more depressing there hasn’t been an announcement of a sequel
2:15 the sequels content was fun but I did have my complaints such as the balancing of the reinforcements. the first order basically had outright better reinforcements excluding the flame trooper(same thing with the empire). I was disappointed when they added bb9e and bb8 but they ended up being fun regardless.
On console for ps4 and 5 You can find every single game mode has someone in no matter the level you get a good mix of new players and max levels starfighter assault even has full lobbies the game on console is doing very well
We are from Australia and our server is super quiet unfortunately. Playing on Ps5 and no matter what day we try to play, we can barely ever find a game of supremacy. We can try to switch servers but the lag is so bad it isn't even worth it
I've played Xbox since about a year in. Game is very much alive but it can be hard to find a game of strike/extraction or starfighters sometimes. Always happy to see new blood but it's also kinda fun logging in and seeing a lot of familiar names frequently.
I started playing BF2 in November 2023. The reason I started playing this game so late is that I had played BF2015 constantly up until the release of BF2.

On PS4/PS5 there is only 40-100~ people online daily. Mostly at night aswell during the day its dead. But then again, its not crossplay. Its playstation servers only.
Been playing with my friend for the first time in like 4 or 5 years but having some annoying problems. Neither me or my friend can use our mouse in the lobby cuz of EA in game overlay issue so he turned his off and I use controller so I can see his invites. When I get into a game my mouse doesn’t lock into the window so it tabs out constantly going into my secondary monitor. Any suggestions?
such a twitter moment lol. that person probably even hasn't stuck with the game for awhile to see how good ALL of the content was. during the time I played (beta to march 2020 and recently for a few weeks) and looking back, I don't think ever disliked any of the content they added. my only gripe was microtransactions (because I grinded for everything instead of buying anything) and the game's live support being stopped, and honestly I think most players will agree with that. regardless of what they added, sequel or clone wars, it was still really fun and I cant remember any distinct drops in terms of content quality. any sane person can see that the game as of right now is great and ea made a horrible decision to stop live service lol
I only play offline with mods and bots because players ruin the immersion by playing characters from different eras and having inconsistent trooper outfits.
Pc is pretty dead though. In Australia the only servers you get is co-op, when I go onto 300 ping US servers I still struggle to find games. I do get a 20v20 server on EU though but thats unplayable as its 370 ping. So yes I'd say it's pretty dead if only 1 region has consistent servers.
I preordered bf2 on PlayStation 4, then came on to ps5, then played on pc when it was presumed to be dead, now I’m on ps5 again and I’ve never really had a serious problem with lobbies.
This game died when they ended support. Most matches are buggy and glitch filled, and I usually spend a good 30 mins looking for any mode. PC is still thriving because of all the mods you can do to the game. Console is dead, at least in this part of the US. Matches are very few and far in between
I play on Ps5 and still I find servers to play! I just wish it had crossplay/ can you make guides for 2024 of which star cards are best to use for new players ...I know it is difficult but I think will help a lot!

i just wish console lobbies were still active man. used to play this game everyday because it was just so fun and the replay ability is just unmatched. i genuinely hope we do see a new BF3 or i just get a pc in time to join the fun
Server popularity isn't that simple, as far as I know, European servers are the most popular, so if someone doesn't live in Europe, I think there might be a problem finding players.
The way people go out of their way to hate on the sequels is genuinely obsessive and weird, still wanted more OT content personally, really wanted Cloud City and Sullust back in Supremacy
Hey Elliot! I love the Battlefront vids, still can't believe that the game is this popular and alive even after having cancelled 4 years ago. This just shows how much we need a new star wars multiplayer game. If there will ever be a new Battlefront game I don't know if we would really need sequel stuff. Most of the fans are interested in PT and OT and of course the sequels exist but the other eras have 10000% more interesting content for a game.
Unfortunately sequel haters will take any opportunity to remind people that they hate the sequels. Because I guess they feel the need to still be complaining all these years later
I fall somewhere in the middle. While I do recognize that the game got helpful updates that made the game better, by the time they did that i stopped caring. That's a me problem though.
Xbox still has players, but half of them are max level sweaties that no one can touch. It's also small enough that I've been seeing the same players over and over for months now.
Im someone who is very average and be dealt with easily. Im bad at shooters and always have been, probably always will be. But i still play because i love Star Wars.

Is too simple. I mean i wish it was more customizable. An accessory option was better for certain characters. Stormtroopers have only 3 customizations which are free ass skins. Btffront1 was much better in terms of customization. So alli dont like about this is less customization. I wish i could make my own arc trooper instead of skins

The hell are you talking about? The 'misinformation' here is that Battlefront 2 was 'a vehicle to promote the sequel era' - the game is so much more than just the sequels - what does that have to do with anyone's opinion on any of the trilogies? I like a lot of the sequel era maps, and don't really dislike any of them. Most of the maps I don't like are actually from the OT.
I know no one will see this but, to be honest i'm only putting a question, why should i make a comment, i don't know why i'm creating this one at this moment, but i play battlefront 2 alot, i am a hero showdown and heroes vs villains player, sometimes play co-op when i feel like it, for me it's a really dead game, it's hard to say, but sometimes I think "this game is gonna die probably" and I can only wish it would be more alive, i see so much new players, i just feel bad to much high levels, the new players are mainly on my team, in hero modes i'm probably a medium to high level player, i don't think bf2 will be alive again it feels like a dream, i found 1 galactic assault match a year ago in 2023, but it's nice to know that for pc it's quite alive, i'm on ps4 so yeah, I wish it could be alive, sadly I don't think it's ever happening adios
I definitely agree that some of the hate is just downright ridiculous. I may not be a fan of the sequels and prefer to pretend they don't exist, but that doesn't mean I have anything against sequel fans. If you like the sequels, that's perfectly fine. I still remember finding a mod that removes the sequel era from the game that went on this rant that said "they were made for kids to enjoy and millennials to praise." and I'm just like "dude, not only is Star Wars MEANT for kids (Lucas and Disney have both said that), but each trilogy is meant for ITS OWN GENERATION! And this franchise at the end of the day is meant for EVERYONE! Everyone has their own trilogies and eras they enjoy, and this game is meant to span all three eras. Same thing with LEGO Skywalker Saga, some people were mad that the sequels were in that game when THE ENTIRE POINT of that game is to span all 9 movies so every generation of fans could be happy. If the sequel trilogy was removed from this game or Skywalker Saga, sequel fans would complain that their favorite trilogy isn't represented. You don't have to like the sequels if you don't want to, but please understand that there are people who do like them and there's nothing wrong with that.
