An incredible day in Egypt in which I visited the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, the Saqqara pyramids and Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt.

I am just 10 minutes in and already I've seen such a different perspective of the egyptian pyramids compared to other youtubers. I would much rather have this experience than the tours. I'm not sure if gabriel will make a video telling us of the cost and the logistics to arrange this. All in all, you can tell how experienced of a traveler he is and how an OG can flex his creativity on the platform. Thoroughly enjoying this so far

Reflex Everyone is constantly asking for "baksheesh" for doing things for you that you never asked for in the first place. For example, you might hail a cab and someone out of the blue will show up to open the door of the cab for you, and then of course want baksheesh. Foreigners are cheated constantly at kiosks, stores, everywhere. Instead of paying $.50 for a roll of toilet paper, you'll get charged $2. Same with water, drinks, anything that's not posted. I wouldn't get too crazy about it, though. It would ruin your trip. Just be prepared to hand over tips for nothing, though. It's a very poor country and every foreigner is seen as rich, and we are compared to the typical Egyptian. There are three classes in Egypt: rich, poor, and poorer. Very little middle class in a country of 80M+.

Spinx's head could be the key to understand the habit of historical distortion ! FUN FACT : Sahara was A LUSH GREEN TROPICAL FOREST AROUND 5 THOUSAND YEARS AGO WITH MANY BIG RIVERS LIKE Nile and had many great lakes filled up by regular monsoon rains and from the flooding of rivers ! The sea was also nearer to the Giza unlike now and there are several others cites and towns buried under sand in and between Sahara desert waiting to be uncovered !

_Aldebaran_ hi. Yeah we agreed about tour with 3 camels and paid them. Then they brought 1 camel and 2 donkey. We said we paid for 3 camel. They become angry. We scared little bit and said ok. Then we completed tour and they wanted tips(bakshish) We said we already paid much more. They became more angry. They didn’t allow my friend let him down from camel. We asked help from other people, nobody care about it. It was terrible experience. Like tourist hunting.

You wanna enjoy the sites the real way? Either hire a private guide that can get you into exclusive spots and away from tourist or do everything on your own and tell everyone no. There will be many people trying to get you to give them money for some reason, also most of the time those camels are not taken care of. Riding camels is not the Egyptian way anyways.

Indigoism but we were there 10 years ago. At that time not much good informations on internet. And taxi driver told us that the only way to discover area by camels. And he took us to that people. Probably they all organized and part of that trap. And sure they have commissions.

Absolutely great video, Gabriel. The Pyramids and Sphinx have to be one of the most mind boggling places on earth. Just incredible. Like you mentioned, common sense tells me the area WAS very lush during earlier periods when much of the human activity was taking place there. During the earliest constructions. Otherwise it doesn't seem to make sense. And I agree there MUST be an alternate explanation for how the Great Pyramids were built. The widely held beliefs seem impossible. I guess we'll never know. I wish we could.

Said another way, if Jesus had been a tourist there they would have been 2,500 years old even then. He is as old to us as the pyramids are to him. A kind of half way mark. I believe it was one of A the Great generals, Ptolemy that stayed in Egypt and started that family line. Cleopatra was the last of that Ptolemy line.

Came back to watch this again! I like how you go from a common street in Cairo, a back street not many see, and with a local guy, and what it is like from a common place of the Egyptians today, to the seventh wonder of the ancient world! I do feel sorry for the camels as they don't look healthy and groan when they stand or lower themselves. There is a poverty among the people, yet tourism is a means of income. I like how you give a perspective where you feel what it is like being there, and not the super shots one most often sees, like aerial, and perfect light etc. and the interesting points you bring out.

Looking at the head of the Great Sphinx it almost looks like it was placed in at a later time then the bottom structure was built. Look at around the neck area, you'll notice it. Also, in that area blocked off by those concrete blocks, not many people know but there is actually a small shaft right there that leads under the sphinx.

Hi Gabriel, that was a magnificent video view of the Pyramids that is simply incredible. That area must have been at one point an incredible garden. A funny thing about those step Pyramids can be seen around the world in many different countries Mexico, Peru and in China as well as other parts of the world. This video was incredibly fascinating you can’t put a price on what we have seen here my thanks to you Gabriel, for presenting this video. By the way, when you mentioned Memphis, I thought you were heading to Tennessee for some BBQ and to see the king of Rock and Roll Elvis I’m disappointed just kidding.
