To understand Primus, you just have to imagine a band of crazy talented musicians where one tries to sing a bit (and can't) where every song is tongue-in-cheek.

I think we would need to react to some other Primus songs to have a better opinion. It's hard to go off 1 song

Sometimes you just gotta close your eyes and feel the music to appreciate the pure talent and genius. Primus videos should come after you've done that first ✌

True, but it still is really hard to hear Les Claypool singing in this one. Also the video was an art piece that had to be seen with the music

The bass player is Les Claypool and he has his own band called Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, which is a bizzare name in it's own right. 😂😂✌️

Fun fact: The singer/bass player is big into fly fishing! They do have a guitar player. Their big album is called " Sailing the Seas of Cheese ". 😎✌️

And there is a ton of guitar on there. It's very subtle and the bass is definitely the driver but the guitarist is exceptional. Just an FYI. There's so much bass because that's what they do and the bass player is absolutely awesome and does some of the most interesting and trickiest stuff I've seen done on a bass, hence the bass driven music, which works very well. They're music geniuses and if you know what to listen to, you'll begin to understand the phenomenon, which is PRIMUS!!!😂👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Not obscure at all, if you’re over 45. They were hugely popular and headlined the original Lollapalooza tour. I saw them in 91’, great show.

They are a 3 piece band. Drums, guitar, and the bassist Les Claypool is also does the vocals. They are a very niche, eclectic band, but very talented musically. I would argue that Les is one of the better bassists on the planet. Once you get past the "weird", they really do make great music.

Les Claypool (singer/bassist) is widely regarded as one of the greatest bass players of all time. The sheer amount of talented muscians who he influenced is insane. Put they are very different.

Les Claypool is a fretless bass genius. My Name Is Mud is not their best work. You should check out their other songs and videos.

Keep in mind that Les Claypool is playing lead BASS. Not lead guitar - LEAD BASS. There's no guitar player in Primus.
