Listening to Ren, you realize he is not just a talent. He is intelligent. For pure singing, Chalk Outlines and How to be Me, then there is his rap stuff and his social commentary with Money Game 1 and 2.
Ren was misdiagnosed. His mind was not making him sick, he has Lyme disease and is currently going through therapies to repair the neglected damage. Power is a prelude, The Hunger is where he is at now, Loosing It is fun and the trilogy tales is something to see. The I Shot the Sherriff/Zion/Hip Hop with the Big Push shows a different side.

I'm going through this right now :( I have constant muscle twitches all day every day, from my shoulders to the bottoms of my feet. I can't get a doctor to figure it out. They keep doing bloodwork, EMGs and stuff like that but when the results come back negative they just keep telling me it's mental health related, prescribed me xanax, buspar, zoloft etc.. Like how can anxiety, panic, or depression make my muscles twitch?! The worst part is, I legitimately am a severe hypochondriac and they're using that against me. Keep telling me that "we've ruled out the major causes of twitching, so we know it's not life threatening and it's probably mental health related. You'll be ok try not to think about it." Imagine "trying not to think" about all of the muscles in your body misfiring all day long. 😭😭Ren is my hero 🥺🥺
Two down now as what is most certainly your start to going down the Ren rabbit hole. Please check out “The Tale of Jenny & Screech” (Full) which is a fantastic trilogy. “The Hunger” is more old school hip hop rap. “What You Want” reminds me of the Beastie Boys and “Power” is like pop radio play rap. But to truly appreciate the greatness of @renmakesmusic, then you need to see his total diverse abilities and check out him doing “Bittersweet Symphony”, Can’t Help Falling In Love”, “Chalk Outlines”, “Money Game”, “Money Game, Part 2” and then some of his work with The Big Push and Sam Thompkins like “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”, “I Shot The Sheriff” and “War Pigs”.
Great reaction and I think that you picked the best two songs as your introduction to Ren. However, he is more than this and you are going to be bombarded with loads of requests because this guy is unreal. And if you thought that this was him rapping.....well you've not heard anything yet. You need to strap in and enjoy the ride. Having said all that, I think by far, that his most requested song will be The Tale of Jenny and Screech. It's actually a trilogy which ends with Violet's Tale and it's very important to watch them in the correct order so I suggest that you react to the full version. Love from the UK x
Truth...Ren is gold...he is fire,he is pure genius... I'm glad you've found what works for you. As a nurse, and as someone with a sibling who has dealt with psychosis and a bevy of other symptoms for decades, I'm glad you don't rule out medication as being helpful for some. Therapy, with or without medication, can indeed be beneficial to almost everyone at various points in life. I'm enjoying your Ren reactions. You're right: he's exactly what we need right now, both as an opening to get more real about mental and physical health, and as an artist who's pushing every boundary, bending and blending every genre. We need this Ren-naissance. I look forward to following your reactions to his catalog.

Nick, I definitely would do some research about Ren, undiagnosed Lyme Disease, definitely can go neurological, cause’s incredible pain. The doctors failed him, the music industry wants him to conform, so far this is a small part of what I have learned, but he has tremendous health issues as a result of the missed diagnosis and of course was given antipsychotic medication, his story is truly tragic.
Appreciate your definition of therapy. I too haven’t gone for “therapy” for the same reason. I have found Ren’s music and listening to reactors and reading comments to be therapeutic. I’m starting to think through issues and understanding what I’ve been trying to ignore for decades. Thank you for contributing to my journey.

A study came out last yr that proves serotonin imbalance was found not to be linked to depression. Drugs do not help. But you know what does, helping others. When you help others, you take the focus off of your own self perceived issues and focus on others. In turn, it helps them, and you.

You have good listening and breaking down the content skills. Loved your reaction. So addicted to this guys tracks. Ren has Lymes disease, as he says in this song, bitten by a tick boy. He was given a lot of heavy meds for mental health problems while his body and mind was being damaged by the disease. Is in Canada for prolonged treatments to try and reverse the damage.

Ren I have seen posted that he will put out something new on his birthday, March 29th. The year of birth is 1990 or 91? That 'kid' is your age Nick. If you love rap, you will find Rens rap mind blowing, at times, spits like a machine gun. Keep going down Ren's rabbit hole. Also his live stuff with his band The Big Push. Ren is quite a ride. He can not be defined, a chameleon.
He also does his own beats,directs the videos as well as performing,singing rapping. Try Crutch with Bibi. It was done amidst serious health downturn. He is very underweight and fearful in Crutch of losing Bibi.

I can’t speak for Ren or anyone else, but I feel his aversion and even anger towards the therapist may be from his experience. I do know a relative who as a teenager was diagnosed with ME/CFS and the treatment here in the UK was graded exercise therapy (GET - sort of trying to gradually increase the amount of physical exercise you can do) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The GET actually made her symptoms worse with post exertional malaise (PET). As time passed and the GET was making her worse not better, she withdrew into her shell. Later she told me that she was so angry at the treatment she received. She said it felt like they were making her worse and then giving her therapy to help her deal with the fact they were making her worse and at the same time telling her It was her mind making her sick, so basically blaming her for her worsening symptoms…gaslighting her. I think maybe Ren may have experienced something like that. Some of the lyrics in Sick Boi suggest it to me
You can say no to drugs. Get the therapy. I have worked as a therapist myself. Find one that you resonate with and share All your concerns . I love you. Take care. Ren qill show the way

In case you didn’t know, he was misdiagnosed for 10 years, telling him it was just all in his head, but finally they found he had been bitten by a tick, and is finally getting treated properly. Poor kid.
Please you must watch Rens "Seven Sins" lyric video. It will blow you mind and I promise not nightmares, but you will feel pain. ♥ If you don't feel pain, you will at least see and hear what pain is all about. I feel pain daily, Ren tells it like it is.
So, hey, on the mental health/therapy thing. Just remember that just because someone gives you a prescription doesn't mean you have to fill it. If you find a therapist and they insist you need medication that you don't want to take and they aren't willing to respect that, then move on to a new therapist who better meets your needs. Unfortunately, we, as a society, have a really weird relationship with medication, with psych medicine being especially demonized. This hasn't been helped by the medical community sometimes being too quick to turn to medications without providing the patient with enough of the right information about what they do and what sort of other effects they can cause. I'm not a fan of meds, myself, but I take a few pills every night because if I don't, my blood pressure WILL rise and it WILL kill me. One stroke is already too many. (also, do you know what you call natural remedies that work? ... medicine. 😉) "Old Ren boy can RAP rap." Hee... You don't know the half of it. My fave track of his is The Hunger which is just him showing off with mad bars and incredibly flow. Something a little more structured is his track Losing It. If you want to go old school, then What You Want is what you want.
