^^ not everything is a castle here in Germany because we would use different words for different styles in which they were builded... Here in Germany we would differ between eine Burg and ein Schloss but in English both words get only translated as castle 🙄 and then we would also have the word Palast that would mean palace 🤷
@@atzenpeterMcfresh nee, auch sowas wie Bahnhof Zoo oder so ^^ aber da gibt es noch ganz andere Ecken... 😉 noo, maybe also something like Berlins trainstation Bahnhof Zoo or something like that ^^ but there exist also a few more places... 😉
Stefan, Dortmund
Well, I grew up in Heidelberg, a city most Americans visit if they take a trip to Europe. With the big castle and wonderful nature around. But I think America has a lot of very interesting places to visit we would never be able to see in Europe. So every country, every continent has it's special history and nature.
There are some beautiful parts of Germany, but in general, as a German I feel most of our landscapes are really boring compared to the breathtaking landscapes on other continents. Not only did German-speaking Prussian lands once extends as far east as Königsberg/Kaliningrad all along the Baltic Sea and the Danube river, but those are no longer part of today's Germany. And most of the country and its forests have been extensively used and moulded by agriculture and forestry since Roman times. There's, like, one small "Urwald" (primeval forest) left and its under nature protection. And our North Sea coast with its small islands and the Baltic Sea coast are not as majestic as i.e. the French Bretonic coast or the Atlantic coast.
Man, your first reaction made me cry... So many people in the US have no idea what is going on around and outside of the US... Yes, i have been a lot in the States and i love it as well, but europe (i am swiss) has so much history and culture... You guys were told that your country is the best and there is literally nothing to see across the border (speaking of protecting your local tourism🤔) ... I hope you will be able to see one day the rest of the world, traveling is so important... 👏👋
The difference between Germany (Europe in General) and the USA is the history. A friend of mine had bought a house that was built before Columbus came to the Americas and it was in constant use since then and it still is in great shape and will be still here when I and my friend are gone.
Some cities and towns still have buildings in use that are actually more than 800 years old and I don't mean palaces and castles but buildings that were and are hostels, pubs etc. Unfortunately, in the 19th century, a large part of the old buildings in my native town fell victim to a fire.
@@dershihaya2263 Not as many, no. That would be historically impossible. If you care about that and not only about being unable to accept that people think of Germany as beautiful.
How many castles and palaces are there in Germany? Image result for palaces and castles germany Around 25,000 castles, palaces and mansions bear witness to Germany's history: some of them are still in their old glory, others are ruins that remind you of times gone by.
Im so happy seeing people react to our country and also think its beautiful as i do! Im very happy to live in such (kinda old)and historic country with many important people troughout history! Liebe Grüße,aus berlin!Mach weiter so!
A miss a few shots about inner architecture, Christmas markets, model trains, curry wursts, cars, Phantasialand and people. But the movie will take the whole day ;-)

This, my friend, is Mankind, concentrated in one "Spot" All Achievements, all Human Rights, all Beauty, all Glory - i am proud to call this my Homeland. Please dont get me wrong ; saying words like "Pride" as a german might be difficult, i know that 😉 Greetings!
A big difference with New York and what makes each castle even more impressive is that each one of them had a purpose and special history where skyscrapers are just a product of commercial necessity.
Yesterday I said to a friend that I am not proud of it. But with this video I say, yes, I'm proud to have been born here. I live near Cologne and whenever I stand in front of the cathedral, I think wow. I love our old towns, I'm very often in Monschau. Love all the castles and their history.
Everywhere you go, you’ll encounter castles in Germany as almost every city has at least one castle somewhere. Some are rather new (200-300 years old) while others are over a 1000 years old, like for example the castle in my city which was build around 800 AD in order to withstand the attacks of the vikings. 😄 And concerning the islands: Germany has 77 islands. The biggest island of Germany is Rügen in the Baltic Sea. The biggest German island in the North Sea is Sylt. 😄
i'm a proud german and I love my beautiful country with all my heart and i would never regret to be born and raised in germany my beloved "Vaterland"😌🙏🏻❤️
Hey my friend. I was born in Germany and grew up there since 1981. One of the reasons why we have so many castles and similar fortifications is because of our history. The Germany of today was preceded by a period of time known as the Middle Ages that was characterized by noble families, their possessions and the people who lived there. During the so-called feudalism, those people were just as much property of the sovereigns as the land on which they lived. The central point was usually the castle of the respective nobleman. A castle that was both a symbol of his power and the place where he lived. There were many noble families and the number of castles was correspondingly large. A few could even afford to own more than one castle. The castles that can be seen in Germany today date back to this early historical period.
We Germans have to be proud of our Country again. We were taught not to be, but we have to learn it again. Otherwise our beautiful country will not exist for long.
The war didn't destroy as much as we think. After war, 80% of industry was still in good shape. That's why (west) Germany was able to produce again really fast. Some towns and areas were really blown away. That' s right. Ruhrgebiet, Hamburg, Dresden, Berlin, Frankfurt, Nürnberg and some others really got full package. But many parts of the land were still ok. Also the rebuilt was really successful. Many "concrete-sins" from the 60s are corrected meanwhile. And look at Dresden, as sample. Dresden is a real treasure today :)
@@francoforte4788 Halle (Saale) as an example was mostly intact, somehow they bombed the fields and forest around the city but the city itself didn't take much damage, sadly not one of the best looking cities out there but still in the video for it's chrismis market at 14:38
@@francoforte4788 Depends on the city. There was much destruction in major cities like Berlin, Hamburg or Dresden. Sure, some was restored, but a lot was lost, too. We can't really complain though.
Yo, cool reaction to an awesome video! Really shows some of the beautiful scenery and buildings in Germany! Hopefully you can visit some time and see it in person and enjoy some food and our good beer haha! Greetings
A friend of mine is a tour guide and he always thinks it`s hilarious when he tells american tourists how old the buildings in Europe are and they don´t believe him ^^ Never forget that the US is actually quite a young country. (apart from native american tribes)
Wonderfull video! Wonderfull reactions on the footage! You are really great guy and I'll keep my fingers crossed, that you'll be able to see all that shown once in future with your own eyes. The video showed me personal once again, that my country is really beautifull and great to travel in...yeah, and it made me goosebumps as well🙂
Around 25,000 castles, palaces and mansions bear witness to Germany's history: some of them are still in their old glory, others are ruins that remind you of times gone by. Nice greetings from Germany :)
When you look into your eyes you can see how fascinated you are. You are an attentive observer. Greetings from Thuringia "the green heart of Germany". Like 1688 Wenn man in deine Augen schaut sieht man wie fasziniert du bist . Du bist ein aufmerksamer Beobachter . Liebe Grüße aus Thüringen "das grüne Herz Deutschlands".
the castle at 13:35 is Burg Eltz, the the decendants of the family who built it in the 12th century still lives there. We also have the longest castle in the world, Burghausen which is over 1km or 0.65 miles long.
There are 25.000 Castles in Germany. And the Architecture is amazing on them and most of the churches and sightseeing Places over here. So if you get here - enjoy it to the fullest!
4:15 It depends. What is a castle to you? The estimation for castles originally used as fortification or (in the broadest sense) military buildings is about 25,000 - that includes some ruins, but not palaces built for representative or governmental purposes (except for some (re)built in the 19th century in "medieval" romantic style like Burg Hohenzollern (1:29) or Schloss Neuschwanstein (1:04) and some others) or e.g. abbeys which were repurposed in the 19th century as palaces, army barracks or infirmaries or e.g. municipal fortifications.
What do you think? what you can get in more than 2000 years of history and culture... fun fact: In America there were times during the settlement when over 70% of Americans had German roots.... lol 😂🤫 at least they are today still more than 50 million Americans... where the main ancestry can be counted as German, thus the largest ancestry group in the USA 🍻 and many just don't know it (problem of the time of oblivion)
No other country in the world has as many castles and palaces as Germany. There are around 25,000 castles, palaces and mansions in Germany, many of which are still in their full splendor, others are ruins that remind us of Germany's history.
You will love Germany. Going back to Germany in August. I hope you get there soon. All the best with your RU-vid program. Don’t forget, Germany is hundreds of years older than the US.
I really like your reaction. And it's makes me proud to live in a country where other people who see that, getting speechless and overwhelming. Come to Germany and watch that live. Here in the area of Rheinland-Pfalz where I live give many castles and ruins to watch. I'm very corious which Videos and theme u still will react. Stay how u are.
These are not only palaces and castles, these are also churches, which look like palaces and castles...... We have many, many of them. And, of course, monuments to heroes, great kings, etc. I think this video is just wonderful and as a German I have to honestly say that even we Germans probably haven't seen everything in our country. There were some pictures of my hometown Frankfurt.... the Römer and the Frankfurt skyline, which is often called "Mainhatten". Simply beautiful.
What looks like a castle @11:14 and is called das Rote Schloss am Meer, is actually the german navy academy: Marineschule Mürwik located in the northernmost town, Flensburg. So that doesn't count.
I hope you will enjoy our country. We do have a lot to offer even at about half the former size. You will meet all kinds of people here, Germans and foreigners. It’s a very mixed experience in both temperament, regional and international diversity. We would be happy to have you.
Greetings from good old Germany. From 11:49 till 11:57 is my City were i life it is (Goslar in the Harz). 60K People in there and it is surrounded of small Mountains. over 1000 years old. We have over 25000 Castles in Germany. I saw only 107 of them but its more than most People are visit because they are to busy to see not one of it.
Thank you for the very nice video! Greetings from Finland. In my young adult years I lived 20 Years in Germany, it was divided then. My best foreign language is German. Berlin I still would like to visit this year again, maybe Christmas- market time.
5:54: Lüneburg, the place I was born and raised in the north of Germany! The Rathaus on the right is one of the most interesting buildings because it has been build over centuries with different styles. Very nice to see it in a video about the most beautiful citys in Germany....
I'm pretty sure the island was "Baltrum" my favorite place on earth. It's tiny and there are no cars (besides firetrucks and an ambulance). It's the best place to recharge.
The wonderful thing is, this video goes through all major cities and regions of Germany one after another, showing nothing twice! When I look out my living room window right now I see one of the prominent scenes from this video from the exact same perspective live.
I think the reason is the much longer history of germany. The most experts are shure, that the history of germany is longer than 2000 Jears. In this time they had a lot of wars and many different peoples. And this you will find also today with the castles and the diffrent accents and dialects and architectures. Greetings 🙂
It's not only the castles many of the villages and cities in this video are historical they were founded in the middle ages and the buildings are ancient.
As has been mentioned several times, Germany has 25K more castles, palaces, ancient ruins, churches etc. than any other country. That's because Germany used to look like a patchwork quilt, lots of princes, dukes, knights, kings, etc. and everyone wanted to have their empire.
so i live near Koblenz. If i put a circle around me with an diameter ~ 30 miles i can visit ~ 50 Diffrent Castels. And one of the most famouse one in germany ( Burg Elz, Marksburg, Burg Cochem)
At 4:58 min. it's The Ulmer Münster. The highest Church in the world. 161,53 meter high. At 7:09 it's The Limburger Dom with his seven towers. This Church is from 1230! 800 years old!
One could think Germany only consists of castles, water, trees, churches and pretty towns. Living in Potsdam, I really cannot disagree. LOL. But there are not so pretty parts too. These were some of the raisins. But wow. Now I want to visit my own country more. Especially the coast. Loved that slightly stunned and authentic look on your face during the vid. 😀
Hallo Mein Freund I just landed on your page by luck excuse my bad english But while I was watching the video about my country, im a german where I was born where I grew up as a child where I got married where I had children tears came to my eyes and I cried We Germans live in such a beautiful country with such an incredible history and it occurred to me that today's generation doesn't really appreciate all that I hope this generation doesn't gamble away what our parents have left behind The video has a different perspective when you see it through your eyes So many thanks for that
Castles were mainly built in the Middle Ages which is roughly from 500 - 1500 BC. So it makes sense they aren’t a part of American US culture as the Native Americans in what’s now the USA were mostly nomadic as far as I know. There’s the Inca’s and such in South American that have ancient pyramids and such.
you could find the same paysage in every country in europe. not only castle but most people forget that our europeen history go back to neanderthal 430 000 years ago.
There are around 25.000 Castels, palaces an mansions bear witness to Germanys history: some of them still in their old splendor today, others remain ruins of bygone times. .
