Regarding Trump's remarks on contraceptives, yes, you could see the wheels turning in his head, but I think that was because he was trying to figure out what the word contraceptive meant. That's why he answered the way he did because he didn't know what he was being asked.
Trump knows what the word "contraceptive" means. He just did his usually schtick about he was going to be coming out with a statement about that in a couple of weeks.
It is quite simple. If a politician makes a comment or joke which leaves a hint of racism, sexism or fascism, one will only vote for this politician if one sympathizes with such ideas.

The judge is a USA citizen, what a jackass. I have worked in live entertainment and many political rallies in my life since 1976. I have even worked 3 Trump rallies. One was political rally and the other two were a private fundraiser audience. I couldn't imagine working on his team. You think you are doing something to help and he does something stupid and all your work gets tossed out. then you get blamed for it by him. no thanx. I wouldn't work for this for 5 grand a week. Too many of his direct employees have ended up in prison taking falls for him and not by choice.

He thought he was discussing abortion (which is why he said it is up to the states). His staff had to inform him that contraception means birth control. He is such an ignoramus!
