Very underrated and one of the best skaters on youtube, hands down.

The Doelling kickflip is one of utmost pristine quality, and for me personally, a boned out kickflip with the proper back foot catch and the nose angled slightly downward and stomping that shit like trying to focus a board on the bolts can't be beat lmao. You're style reminds me of Chris Wimer, the kickflips are too tasty dude!

Dude has one of the best kickflips i have ever seen. Im 38 and just got back on a skateboard after nearly 2 decades, landing a kickflip and learning to drop in are my 2 goals to have done before the end of this summer and I learned to drop in this week, kickflip is next.

@Zach Doelling Reminds me so much of the well known flying kick of kungfu and tai kwando. Would probably be pretty easy for you to learn at this point

What makes the RU-vid format so appealing for me is that you can watch skaters at their most comfortable level while they warm up, you can watch them battling through a trick, and then the trick. Just showing landed tricks takes away from the format.

Your tip on practicing melon grabs is genius. I have been struggling with upper-body positioning on kickflips, which was messing with my consistency and this really helped.

Hell yeah, I've been working on getting kfs on lock so this should help. My flick is getting stronger though, keep accidentally double flipping

The tighter trucks make a huge difference. Less energy is diverted to the bushings compressing on the sides, so all the force is sent straight to the ground through the tail. My kickflips were WAAAAAY more solid on tighter trucks (7-8 years ago) . Now I’m old and decrepit from all the years of injuries, so my kick flips don’t have so much snap anymore, but I still can flip into some grinds. I’m happy with it. I am going to try out your tips though.

I always think of tre flip with koston I have a vhs of him and tony hawk doing trick tips and koston taught the tre so I associated the tre with him ever since.

Essentially all decks from the 80's were shaped 10" wide. Add to that 9" trucks and 60+mm wheels and there wasn't much style to our kickflips back then. It was just get them over. lol

I'm from Missouri, too, Raytown! I live in Kansas Now, there's a skatepark down the street and I don't know how to skate, but I can sure fingerboard pretty well.

Nice double flipping board of rotating the best trick to extending the trick to be landing it in a session or warm-up practices!

kickflips started in street around 87-89 boards were like 9.5" x30" with small wheel base. It wasn't until late 91 popsicles that we ride now came out fully. Back then people were obsessed with ollies still like kickflips are now, everyone would ask "can you ollie"? That was a thing, not sure how kickflip became the 'it' trick? I think the trick is played out right now, do different tricks imo to be different. I really like those casper stalls you do, or impossibles, Id rather see that then just a straight kickflip. For me it's easier to varial flip or front heel because the boards spins as well as the flip. Too many people are like obsessed with kickflips it's like the only trick they know, and it's starting to get played out.

Hey Zach you are really good at tweaking your board, no question. But are you naturally very flexible? Did you have to work at getting your legs to do that? I can kickflip, albeit poorly, and I have a decent ollie. But I’m not that flexible. I’m an older cat who learned to ollie in the late 80’s, and we sucked our legs up for height cannonball style. Not ideal. But I couldn’t throw that sidekick with a gun to my head. Any tips on the tweak? You stretch your hips? Any particular way? Always a pleasure to watch you skate man.

I fully agree with your kick flip conversation. It's not a warm up, you can't get better at it on busted gear, it's technique and not vertical... don't even bother if it's too windy. Sicc episode. Great skating, great demonstration and at least four extremely hard to match flips off that crazy bump gap. 🛹🧙‍♂️

I just use the knife or razor and poke a hole in the grip where the bubbles are if there are any and that's it, there gone. You prob do the same thing though, I think most do that?

I can bone my Ollie’s good but still can’t melon (haven’t tried in months) but my problem with boned kickflips are having it stay to my feet, I can bone em them it’ll leave my feet or I’ll land it almost like a tail smack instead of just 4 wheels at once
